Here I am playing the JP8000 in all of its vintage beauty. Turn the volume up! I have a little too much fun in the video and end up playing 10 melodies. Oh well. Enjoy!
WOW the sound of Trance from 2000. What's weird at the time this music was popular I couldn't stand that kind of dance music and would be annoyed at the main room always playing it... now I miss it and it instantly brings me back!
So I’m discovering this years later and it is still blowing me away. The synth/sounds is one thing but your talent is very amazing! I have old ‘80s synths like Juno-106 and Jupiter-6 but now I need this one! Thanks for still keeping this video on years later! Roland always had the most amazing machines - thank you Japanese engineers!
I bought the Juno 6 in around 2010 for £250 on ebay its was near mint I kept it for about a year or so, when I sold it i was amazed how much the price did increase it made £650 and their even much more now around £2,000 amazing stuff. The lack of midi was the reason I sold it, not into retro midi conversions.
I watch this video almost every day and it's awesome. I've owned this synthesizer for a few months now. But I still haven't gotten this mega-great sound to this day. Still, it's a great synth.
I always wanted to have synaesthesia. But i don't. But i got a different thing. I can deconstruct musical tracks and songs into their elementary building blocks, separate them in my head and listen to each instrument solo. It's useful, but in no way rare among ppl who play an instrument or have talent for music. But synaesthesia would be nice too. Do the colours stay the same for certain sounds, or do they change with time? Does the colour change for example when filter is applied? I would imagine that slowly opening lowpass cutoff filter must make the colors brighter and vice versa, no?
@@flare242 The pitch can sometimes make the sound brighter or darker depending on if it's higher pitch or lower pitch but it always stays the same over time
Roland engineers really know what they were doing. You feel the electricity coming from their product, it's literally an energy transfer between their fantastic product and you.
While I sort of understand why people thought the video could have been more of a general demo, I think you did a good job of demonstrating that it can sound good. Personally I like trance chords, and don't think this sounds cheesy at all.
@STIG Zero I know how Kebu's setup works. I have a similar setup. I don't have Near the amount of amazing synths that Kebu has. But I do use a bunch of sequencers. I was mainly referring to him playing a lot of live arpeggios. He's a fantastic musician.
Grant, this video greatly influenced my decision to purchase the jp8000. You are amazing on this thing, bro. Keep playing whatever you can get your hands on!
woah...i have one of these on order from japan and just came across this video...pure gorgeousness 😎👌🏻 (and your warmup would be my best attempt at trying to play lol)
I love my JP-8000. When I write my will, I will make it say "Bury me with my JP in my casket." Seriously, it's that awesome of a synth if you love trance! :D
WOW, holy moly!!! you're talented ... you absolutely nailed it ... great, thanks for sharing (PS: I own a SH-201) and work on my primitive skills to get Trance Tunes over the speakers
I had this same synth and decided to sell it and go for the jp8080 modul instead because of its polyphony, and vocoda. You can get the exactly same super saw punchy power from the yamaha an1x which is most certainly a must have synthesizer the CS1X just don't cut it in comparison at all.
Hey Grant... This is so fucking amazing... I listen to it almost every day, cuz its so relaxing and i rly love this synth... Just a fat and warm sound... A wall of sound, to say the least... Hopefully I can get one soon!
Whoa thanks for demonstrating this classic trance sound!!!! Could you please share how you made some of these patches (e.g. the gouryella one)? Thank you!
(Wasn’t sure if the beginning tweaks you did in the first part of the video was how you arrived at the patch, or if it was a completely different preset)
Can someone please explain to me how the sound is set? My JP-8000 doesn't sound that powerful to me. I have the first oscillator at LOWER and UPPER on SUPER SAW, MIX=127, DETUNE=100. The second oscillator at LOWER and UPPER to sawtooth RANGE=-12. How are the effects set here? Thanks in advance.
How do you set the supersaws range +1/-1 octave individually? You can just set the octave of the whole patch this way or? Great demonstration by the way!!!
