I agree. A nice genuine video. I'm subscribing and looking into the ares 2/enyo. How would you discribe the sound signature and instrumental placement?
Having owned the Ares II since 2020 and adding the Iris this past May, I noticed an improvement in soundstage, bass presentation, and greater detail. I upgraded to the Ares 12th when it was released in order to use the I2S connection with the Iris. This combination is pure bliss.
Speaking for myself and I’m guessing most of your RU-vid viewers, you are an audio dealer with the heart of a good friend. Don’t change a thing please!
Got it! That makes perfect sense now. You changed the name to Enyo so there would be no confusion between the new model Ares 12th. Thank you for the explanation. Always look forward to your videos and new products!
Dear Alvin-san, your videos are fine. Also, your English is perfect. Thank-you for all your e-mail & RU-vid updates. Denafrips & Vinshine Audio are excellent, 100% reliable companies. Very best wishes from Japan, (ex. Scotland).
That was a really wonderful explanation of a DDC and the situations where you may benefit from one and also when you may not. Excellent video, and I'm glad you are feeling better! Cheers, Tom
Nice informative video and thanks for the clarification Alvin! Not just another businessman who just sell additional DDC but explaining the real issues and reason!!!
Just received the envoy in mail.after 8 hrs I tested it and WOW it sounds awesome.I upgraded from ifi zen one signature. The Enyo copmpared to the ifi is like limousine to a Hugo.couldn’t be happier.
Your videos are excellent and very informative. I just ordered my Enryo Dac today to replace my Musical Paradise Dac that no longer works. Hoping that I enjoy my music on it as much or even more than my previous Dac.
Your videos are top quality, always have been in my opinion. Your English is just fine, actually better than some Canadians I know. The Aries 12th is getting a few good reviews. I look forward to learning more and possibly will purchase. Thank you... good job explaining the relationship between these 2 audio components and the manner by which one should purchase the DDC. (after the DAC)
Thank you for making this video. I was confused between the two. The Aeres 2, however, does appear to be darker black in color in the video. It might just be the lighting. As far as you not sounding like other RU-vidrs, that is a good thing. This is more genuine, and from what you are saying, it shows that there is integrity behind the company which makes me want to do business with you more now. Thank you again.
Alvin, your English is great as are your videos. You are one of the few honest people in the HIFi business who offers genuine good advice and value to your customers. Thank you!
Excellent and useful video as always. Perhaps next time you could mention the difference between Pontus 2 and Pontus 2 12th and also explain the situation where a DDC may benefit the Pontus. Is the Pontus any better at removing USB imperfections than the Ares?
Sir, I have a question. Should stacking the Ares 12th-1 by physically placing it on top of an amplifier such as the Cayin iHA-8 affect the sound in any way? I could swear that the staging collapses and instrument separation become less apparent. I read up on the amplifier saying that its internal transformer coil design allows for mininal magnetic leakage but i couldn't find anything on the Ares 12th-1. Is magnetic leakage a thing with your DAC and should it affect audio?
I guess the enyo also suffers from lips sync issues when going from TV or processor then. This was the reason I sold my Ares, it had to run double duty and it could not
DENAFRIPS DDC/DAC uses Adaptive FIFO Buffer, and Reclocking. These techniques yield excellent jitter rejection, however, the variable latency is inevitable. The latency may have an effect to video/audio lip sync, commonly known as lip-sync. If you plan to use DDC/DAC mainly for gaming/video streaming, it may not be suitable. If you use the DDC/DAC purely for stereo music listening, it would work perfectly. Some TVs come with a feature to adjust the lip sync delay. Example: www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00026069 If the TV comes with such a setting, it will be a good mitigating option to correct the lip sync for TV/movies.
It really depends on which streamer you’re using. If the streamer outputs high quality digital signals, adding a DDC may yield subtle difference. I would consider the diminishing return in this case :)

Thanks for the video, but should have just kept "Ares II" name, and have "Ares 12th Anniversary Special Edition" for the new product. The way they chose to do it by renaming a very successful product that is like 3 years old with a different name to accommodate a new product is more confusing.
Good job. We dont need to become youtuber. Just stay ... real ! :) BTW, i spot the new Volumio Primo on the bookshelf. I am waiting the past two months for a review but cannot find one here yet. Maybe you will be the first? ;)
Thanks Kostas, i will keep it that way :) I bet review of the Primo will be available soon. Commenting on sound quality is not my strength. All i could do is to explain its function, use-cases, etc. More on the functional parts rather than sound quality :)
I still do not understand the logic behind renaming a very successful product (i.e. Ares II) to something different especially they being identical. IMO, Ares 12th edition should be known as Ares III. Let's keep thing simple to avoid unnecessary confusion to your customers. My 2c.
