The book is fantastic and the the movie is as well. It had 8 Academy Award nominations and won 4. It was one of the 5 films nominated for Best Film in 1984. It's worth watching. Phenomenal cast.

You'd be surprised to know how many actors are conservative or independent. Just look at the actors that aren't overtly vocal in politics nor spout left-wing ideologies, and those are the actors to support.
