Denon's New 2020 AVR/AVC's have an output issue. Both the AVR X4700H and the X6700H have dual outputs that have a bug or worse a physical defect that causes a major issue.
If anyone has any ideas on further trouble shooting this, then please let me know. Otherwise, right now, I can't recommend the New 2020 Denon AVR's X4700H AVR X6700H to anyone using them on two outputs. I'm hoping Denon see this and investigate further and find out it's a bug and fix it.
Why all the mystery in the title and the video. Just come out with it. I fell asleep and had to start it over and realize this is a non-issue for most of us....
Wow i thought i was the only one with this exact same problem. Also the 3700h denon 😉 i run this avc and use both hdmi outs to my sony bravia kd series and optoma uhd40. And it did not work. Flickering, no source, fall out. It drives me crazy. I bought New hdmi cables fiber optic for the projector with zero improvement. If i take one hdmi out al works fine. Can not use the 2 hdmi out ports. I think also its firmware and hope soon for a update. I will follow you and hope there will be an answer... grtz from the netherlands.
This is just great... my wife bought this same Denon AVR receiver for me just a month ago on 3/21. My X-4700H video flickers and it is worse when first turning it on. Gets just a little better after it warms up some.
I've been experiencing this issue same on the 3600H as well from day 1. I found your video because I was thinking about upgrading to the 4700H, that's off the table now. It's disappointing hearing this issue is ongoing across several generations of Denon receivers.
Yes don’t buy the Denin 4700 I’m having the same problem with audio the audio goes out and there’s nothing you can do and then it’ll come back on later so it must be a sign that there’s an issue and eventually it’s not going to come back on it’s terrible
Workaround - you have use output combination and quickselect feature. First you setup output to monitor 1 and save it with quickselect 1preset. Than you do a setup with monitor 2 and save it under quickselect 2. Dual settings causes this problem if you use quickselect to choose between projector and tv problem doesn't happen. It's annoing but that's only way I found to use this device. I had tested 2300, 2600 and 2700 and all of them have same problem,. Sucks.
I thought the 4700 just needed a new hdmi board but your comments along w/ someone else’s who had issues w/ the hdmi bug free version leads me to believe what someone from onkyo said, some companies split the signal internally. This would be a hardware issue and not firmware fixable.
I have this same issue on my x3700h. I can sometimes get around it by switching the input to a non-used input (ex. dvd) then switching back, although that doesn't always fix it. It is VERY annoying. It is a little reassuring you are experience this too as I wasn't sure if it wasn't a bad HDMI cable or something else. Knowing we both have the same issue leads me to believe it is a firmware (or hopefully not, a hardware) issue.
I contacted support who ignored me, then asked what I was connecting and then after a few more weeks said they were working on it and closed my ticket. Submitted a new ticket last weekend. Denon seem to have shocking support. Will do an update video soon.
Firmware issue for sure. I have the 4700 and while I don't have this exact issue I get some quirky behavior as well. The OSD on my copy closes on its own.
I have the Denon AVR4700H and I have no issues. I have it connected to my TV and Projector and both can be on at same time with no problem. Sound more like an HDMI cable issue
Which cables are you using that they might not? I’ve been excited about the 4700 but this video gives me pause. Especially since I was planing to drop 2500 on the complete upgrade
I watched about 30 seconds of this video and it is about as clear as a mud puddle. Don't mean to sound rude but it appeared you were confused with the model numbers as well.
I have a 4k JVC-N5 and a 1080p Samsung plasma hooked up. The active display will blank out briefly if the other display is connected and in standby. This happens because either display occasionally does some kind of internal standy power cycle which causes HDMI to do a handshake. If I power off the display not in use at the plug then there isn't a problem. I believe the handshake is 'normal' and it is simply the design of the displays causing the issue. UPDATE: The N5 is in eco standby mode which causes the problem when watching the plasma. With the N5 in normal standy mode the plasma can be watched without interruption. I can't change any standby power options on the plasma so have to power it off at the mains to watch the N5.
My x3700H did that, but funny enough my X6700H does not. Both are on the latest firmware, so it's not that. I had two displays hooked up, one was a PC monitor with HDMI, and the other is a Barco Cine 9 CRT projector with a HDMI 1.4 MOOME card in it. Didn't seem to matter what resolution was being sent out.
Another thing i have noticed, i used to always use a Dr HDMI device in line so the AVR and my OPPO 103D would instantly sync to that and not have to wait for the MOOME card in the CRT, it seems to be ignored by the Denon AVRs, for what reason i don't know. My older H/K AVR360 used to instantly sync to that Dr HDMI and stay synced no matter what you did on the display end, and the OPPO 103D was exactly the same, but the Denon treats the Dr HDMI like it doesn't exist. Not like it is needed anyway, but it might be loosely relevant.
OMG 🤯 I just started having this problem 2 weeks ago on my X4500H exact same setup tv and projector and the video drops ... I've been searching ever since and considering upgrading to 6700.... I am going to try to connect only one HDMI as I had not tried that.
Had exactly the same issue... Did you try to switch settings from dual to just selecting one single monitor? Works on my old 3600 h. It’s easier than disconnecting the hdmi’s but still annoying..
I'm using both outputs on my AVR-X4700H. One 4k output to my 65" monitor and the other output is 1080i downscaled to a Philips Hue Sync. Check your settings.
I have the x4700h and after 2 weeks began seeing audio and video signal drops intermittently on all hdmi sources. After a few rounds with Denon they had me ship it in for repair. Now after 3 days of use after the repair the issue has returned. Never seen the issue with the same sources connected directly to my TV while the receiver was in for repair.
I was thinking of using this in stereo with the B&W 606 bookshelf anniversary editions. Then over time I would build to a 5.1.2 system, do you think the stereo music listening will be optimal with this?
I had the problem in my denon x6700h just I purchased few days ago I connected hdmi monitor hdmi via to my samsung 40''tv but I will haven't check video settings need check and will do comments regarding this issue
@@hundohan3280 ..I just had a quick look at the video(couldn't remember the problem). I haven't tried to connect to two different outputs at the same time so I don't know if it has that same problem. But using it with the main out to one 4K TV, it has no problem displaying UHD in 4K from my PC and 4k Bluray player. If I was going to complain abut anything is it does make a lot of heat. But I have it up loud for hours gaming and playing movies in a tiny (very insulated) room of only 2m x 2.5m.
BorkBork thanks. That’s good perspective because movies and some tv are the only uses id have for it. I only plan to send everything through the projector so hopefully no issues there. Thanks
I have the Denon AVR-6400H and it's "GARBAGE" i will never buy another denon product as long as I live. It sounds like trash and it's buggy as hell. I have owned many brands and I'm going back to Yamaha
Dont plug Video sources into an Audio processor , i never understood the industry wanting to go this route, i run my video cables to the TV ( or whatever your watching on ), then 1 audio out to the AVR & let it pick up the signal....TOO SIMPLE and just plain works !!!
@@DaveMacpherson lol, ya seems simple for sure....not needed, just creates problems, definitely confuses people, I like the one toslink out from tv, works deadly
It's not a "bug" it's a "chipset mismatch" according to Denon themselves. They put the wrong chip in these revievers. The chip they bought can only process a compressed signal and the xbox and new graphis cards send uncompressed signal. So not a bug.
@@sweetswing1 , I feel like the problem wont fix itself until 2022 at the earliest anyways. I cant wait that long. I'll wait though at least 3+ years for the new LED tech to come out for TV's, and get me a 75" OLED or equivalent EL-QD tech. 8K jump seems pointless now.
