Obligatory ramble comment: If a Christian is someone that wrestles with God, and there is no fully agreed upon interpretation, or way to wrestle with, of the one word we do have from God, then isn’t the journey more important than the destination? If we need to believe the correct thing to be allowed into heaven, if we need to come up with the secret password made from some long dead language to pass through the pearly gates then we are all fucked because we lack the ability to understand, not because we choose not to.

Seeing as you're a psychologist and you've just got this 'paranormality' book (which is at least 10 years old now), i'd like to hear your stance on 'precognition' and 'remote viewing'. Lots and lots of people relate their experiences of precognitive dreaming and later events that they correlate to the previous dream. I've had many such dreams/events myself and i just can't buy the usual 'deja vu' explaination ... basically that things get mixed up in your brain and you feel you've experienced an event/scenario before .. like a vague memory. However people who've had lots of such dreams know that this is not what is happening because they already have the outline of their dream and significant features in mind before any later correlating events happen. And those later correlating events are often very detailed and unmistakable, to be easily dismissed as chance or that events are 'made to fit' or 'harmonised' to prior dreams. So there is ongoing study into these particular phenomena and i think it would be sensible to brush up on the new research. Julia Mossbridge is doing some interesting research in my opinion. Alternatively one could just ignore it in favour of ones skeptical bias.

I have had dream's that either are bs and some that seemed to be predicting the future. But once you really think about it these thing's would be nothing you could not boil down to just chance. Just to give you an example I play gotcha game's in which you pull for new unit's. You may ask " how does this matter to you what you said "? To put it blunt on the eula banner and arataki itto banner I had a dream before I pull on their banner that I would get them. Guess what everytime i had these dream's I got the character's I wanted. But this dream could be boiled down to I wanted the character's and dreamed I would get them. Me getting them though was simply luck.

@hardywatkins7737 Год назад
@@Raiden-the-Goat32 You said that every time you had these dreams you got the characters you wanted, .. i assume you mean you got the characters you dreamed you'd get? So can you explain why that is? Even if an event is the result of random luck it still represents an event in time that can be precognised, or seen in a dream before the event occurs, so 'how' the event came about (luck in this case) isn't central to the issue. It's the fact that it happened that's important. Many experiments into precognition involve the use of random number generators, precisely because of the 'randomness' (luck) of the event, so as to determine the efficacy of precognising such random events.

@Mythvision Derek, On Death... It's not that simple. Read naturalistic/atheist philosopher Tom Clark's essay "Death, Nothingness and Subjectivity". Sam Harris did a Making Sense episode on it "The Paradox Of Death".

It is like the interviewer said. A combination of rhetoric and content is needed to be convincing. A Chr. Hitchens without his outstanding rhetoric skills would have been a nothing. Derek can also talk and is handsome. Not bad. People like these features. Its a kind of modern marketing. I am sure if people saw the real Jesus, many Christians would stop believing at once. His looks,hiis voice, what he did all day. They would be surprised. I liked what John Dewey once said about philosophy and about people, that take all of it too serious. Most problems in philosophy are never solved. They are overcome one day. People lose interest. Same applies for religions. No one ever proved in epistomology whether our mind makes the world or vice versa or whether God exists or not. But: The ones with the good voices, with good looks and some kind of content can make good money. But: they will never beat the ones with good looks, good voices and an ability to comfort others and give them hope in this meaningless, deluted and tormented world. I guess there is not much more to say about the game🎉😢🎉🎉🎉

Hello,James. Is there any book recommendation on the topic of death? Like a must read?

Great question. “The Denial of Death” by Ernest Becker is a *must read* - personal favourite of mine. After reading that, check out Sheldon Solomon & co’s book “The Worm at the Core” to get a modern take on the subject. I had Sheldon on a few months back to discuss his book, check that out also! Let me know how those go!

Yeah.....I was brought up Roman Catholic. At that time, the early 1960s, we were thought the litteral Bible- Noah's arc, tower of Babel, etc. As I got older, I learned about evolution, the big bang and the scientific explanation. At 75- years-old, now, I don't see any proof that there's any supernatural force working in earth's history. So if there is a God,he keeps to himself. And only communicates via the Bible. Christian's always say this:. " we have the Bible". So you have an old book that has been proven at least PARTIALLY wrong.Then they argue that "science isn't always right "Forget that route👎👎 And why does'nt God just show himself. Why are humans b er ing tested I don't even like this kind of god. I just except my death soon to come at 73- years- old.❤❤

Derek Lambert who own prejudices likes to talk to like minded. He was disillusioned about his own views about religion. He lives for what reason. Just destroy anything that goes against his own personal views. Thats the typical media mentality. Let's destroy people's beliefs, and he just never mentioned about being born again.
