I discovered Schopenhauer yesterday (lol), and had to think whether any of these older (c.19th and before) philosophers are relevant enough, nowadays, given all the advances in neurology and so forth - something that Dennett prominently turned his focus towards as I understand.

Key issue I have with philosophy (currently) is when they use chronically simple metaphors to explain something; and then whenever later, deep underground rock-dense use of language, that is almost (seemingly) impermeable to all but a curious breed of goblin! lol. And yes, I guess I would have to include Dennett in that ecosystem.

Dennett’s ‘Consciousness Explained’ explained consciousness badly, haha. A.J. Ayer makes a similar point about language in philosophy acting as a smokescreen.

@@AheadOfTheCurveVideos I have read some of Freedom Evolves and have Darwin's Dangerous Idea, but need to finish The Origin of Species first, i guess.
