Finally someone designs a bumper like this one. Great job. I'd consider purchasing a diy one of these if you had one.

A DIY version would be very possible. We’ll see how this first one turns out. If it does work then I’d willing to sell DIY kits of it.

@@TheOffRoadCorner Just went to your website - no mention of a DIY kit for the rear bumper. Nudge nudge ;)

Would you sell a PDF plan for this? Then the average joe can lay it on on some steel and cut it out with a grinder and weld it up.

Hey, I am following EVERY item that you post for the Cherokee, because I have the parts, but not the skill. because of you I have saved TONS of cash by doing it myself. I just noticed that your buddy with the black XJ from Illinois has rear disc brakes. Any chance that YOU might make a video on that. I like following your No Non-Sense way of getting it done. Thanks for what you share with Jeep community. Stay safe and healthy for yourself, your family, friends and viewers. Thank You.

Yeah I’ll do a video that for sure. I want to do a the rear disc swap on my jeep.

I think you had the hatch to my jeep and i had the hatch to yours. before i painted the jeep it was marroon with silver hatch
@TheOffRoadCorner
@TheOffRoadCorner 3 года назад
Hahaha. I had a hard time finding a sliver hatch when I bent mine and broke the rear glass. Maroon was my only choice

I like the plan over if it were my bumper would try to add a place to put a gas can and instead of D-ring/ shackle mounts I would like to see 2" hitch mount so that I could make different attachments for it. For a tow hitch My thought is to just use OEM hitch that is rated for towing but that may just be me. Also, just an FYI seal up your rear quarter panel ASAP! or you will have to do way more wiring work to get your tail lights to work. love the video!
@TheOffRoadCorner
@TheOffRoadCorner 4 года назад
Thank you for the input man. I think down the road I would add a mount for a gas can. I'm not sure where I would put it but I'd figure something out. The hitch mounted shackle instead of the dedicated D-ring tab would save of space and you only need 1 recover point on the rear. when I built those D-ring mounts I was only thinking about adding a recover point. my only concern what hitches though is that hang down low compared to what I have modeled. Thanks for the tip about the quarter panel. I didn't even think about the wiring for the taillights.

This is cool as heck. I made a series on my channel on doing a rear bumper as well. Similar. Except for that mine wasnt as well planned out. Good luck bro

Looks great! How did you remove the material in the bend to make the tabs? Is this an option in Fusion 360? I'm trying to make a rear bar for a car here in Australia using Solidworks and don't have access to a sheet metal bender. Great idea on using the tabs to man-handle the bends.
@TheOffRoadCorner
@TheOffRoadCorner 3 года назад
I basically had to manually create it. So you have create a plane perpendicular to the bend. Then create a sketch of the bend area you want to remove. Then cut using the sketch you just created. As far as I know there isn’t a option on any modeling software for this.

Looking good. Are you planning on cutting it all as a single piece (with tabs holding it together) and bending it into shape or cutting each flat piece separately?
@TheOffRoadCorner
@TheOffRoadCorner 4 года назад
It will be tab and fold. I’ll probably do it in a couple of pieces so I can squeeze it on to a 5’ sheet

I'm using Fusion 360. it's great software and its free for personal use

@@TheOffRoadCorner What would you rate the learning curve of the software on a scale of 5?
@TheOffRoadCorner
@TheOffRoadCorner 3 года назад
This software is pretty straight forward. That being said I still struggle with something like constraining lines and parametric modeling. Learning to use fusion 360 is on the easy side. I’d say 2 out of 5. Try it out. It’s completely free for personal use.
