Join the crew as we knock out the remainder of a large driveway. It's still hot out, nobody wants to show up and I'm tired of it. We are moving ahead anyway and the jobs WILL get done. Even if I have to do them alone!
@@crazypeoplearoundtheworld304 Life happens, even to "men". I don't believe you have never ever shown up late to work. Either that or you're not a day over 16.
I remember a past video you said to bugs "thought you weren't gunna show" and he quickly responds, "not a chance brother." A man of his word, I smell a raise 😉 edit: I find it hard I have to say this but I'm not implying he doesn't get paid/treated well. c'monn people lighten up
@@anthonymendez7645 "Stop counting people’s pockets and worrying about what they get paid" what other incentive do people have to go to work? Honor? Dignity? The only purpose of work is making money, no less no more. it is the only thing important to a job.....
As a 18 yo kid in 1976 I applied to everyplace I could find for a job. I was laughed at by numerous small businesses, trades etc. Over 70 handwritten applications later, I finally got a job at burger king, part time filling in for the full time. How times have changed.
Eric is the man quick to learn and always just always works hard so u ask me the both of them work as EQUALLY as hard no number one and two with those 2 guys
I would work for you forever. No shows are a no go, you have morals and values and integrity, i know you would go to the ends of the earth 🌎 for your guys as long as they show up and give you the respect you deserve. Good people are hard to find and good bosses even harder, you are an example of what all bosses should try and be. Cheers to you Ryan, your family and the the guys ,all of them. PEACE,CAM.
@@aztodd74 I've had push over bosses and I can assure you I never did the same as the aholes that took advantage. If you actually have self respect and consider yourself a hard worker you show up to work everyday and the days you're sick or have an emergency you call your boss a few hours before the starting time and tell him you won't be in and allow him time to try to find someone to cover for you. Nothing wrong with being a good worker and a respectful employee especially when you get to work for a good boss which is very rare..
I'm 21 and own a lawn care company, and I cant find anyone my age, or any older to stay at work. I needed my workers so bad today, and noone answered calls or texts. Always using excuses not to come in. Its sad. Keep your head up, brother. Like you said, keep the positive attitude. Im struggling pretty bad, and destroying myself working so hard. We just need to keep on keeping on, brother. Good luck, and stay safe.
I'd be there bright and early tbh I love outdoors workeven though I'm a girl. I don't get why people can't atleast lyk like ok your tired I get it but atleast tell me because that disappointment would lessen with some honesty . Most companies look at me and laugh because of that fact that I'm a girl 😅 but I carry my weight and lift so I'm pretty strong and have always worked with my pops outdoors and my father loves a tight lawn.
@@89Ayten I got a chick fil a $20 gift card after single handle supplying 2 hospitals with medical equipment during the first year of the pandemic. I quitted after that.
This is a good boss. Not only smart enough to offer a day off after a hard week but offering a paid day off. That will reset someone burning out. Making your workers feel appreciated is key.
I have three teenage boys. I tell them that the key to success in today's job market is two-fold: show up and do your job. Twenty years ago when I was just getting into the full-time workforce I had several jobs where coworkers would just disappear or get fired for sitting around doing nothing. The boss would complain about how hard it was to find people that would just show up and do the bare minimum. Fast forward to today and it has gotten so much worse.
I would totally for for this dude. Bosses like these that have this work ethic are rare to find. Thank you for showing the love and passion of your trade.
Well they did work very hard the day before and i do believe his wife and him have a newborn so that can be another thing. Nagging wife +crying baby +hard days work =0 sleep for 6 hours
Concrete contractor from Los Angeles here. 39 yrs old. The endless issues and hardships are part of being of boss but when you get that check it all makes sense. Makes you a better man
It is very easy to learn, at least as a laborer. Figuring out the job is another thing altogether. But if your one of the people just pulling concrete its quite easy. Even finishing is quite easy to pick up. The only thing that takes years to master is the forming, design ect.
I worked construction with my dad and his friend, who owned the business, one summer before college. Great memories, your videos remind me so much of that time!
Glad Eric showed up, he’s a good kid. Bugs is an OG. The Daryl(s) need to be fired. If Sr called, said he was coming and still didn’t show up, you need to fire him.Marcel was fired for less. You can’t let him away with this behaviour because you need the guys. That’s exactly why he thinks he can get away with it.
You kind takes care of and takes the guy shopping and they don't even show up fire their asses you too Lenny and their buddy father they don't show up anyway so no call no show
Do you own a contracting company? I'm gonna say no. I understand your points, and in corporate offices, that's a standard practice. This business requires more flexibility...A competent "mechanic" can make you a lot of money and make your projects look good...Which increases business. Sadly; most good or competent "mechanics" are prima donnas...They have you over a barrel...It sucks but; C'est la vie! ... Believe me; the days of just plugging in a new guy are LONNGGGGGG gone! Our kind of work can kill you or kill someone else...That can't be taken lightly.
Just subscribed. I was always dedicated to my job and work ethic. 73 years old now and retired. My attitude was: If I didn't do a good job for the company they wouldn't make money, If they didn't make money, I wouldn't make money and support my family. It worked out great! Love the video!
Bugs You're Awesome dude. I'd give Eric a chance but definitely fire the 2 Darrells. Unacceptable to not even call in to work to say your not coming in or that you no longer want to work for that company. Bad Character on thier part. Edit: glad to see Eric showed up.
Bugs is the most reliable one he has besides Eric. The fact his two kids helps is awesome..if I was in the same area I wouldn't mind helping him for sure
I just started watching ur youtube channel around 2 weeks ago. I really enjoy watching your channel. I am not in your field of work, and you look like you run a very good crew. You have patience and that is a virtue! CONGRATS! It's awesome that you have a family business and wish that I can get mine up to a fraction of yours. Wish you and your family the best! Abel, Miami, FL.
I agree. This man is a winner with his proper mental attitude. Always makes the best of the situation. I run a manufacturing shop and I know first hand what it's like to have no shows.
Pay rate, overtime pay, benefits, a real chance of future raises, profit sharing/bonuses, instilling a sense of future growth. It's all part of the game.
I have so much respect and admiration for the way you acknowledge what your guys mean to you. Bugs is such a solid dude (brother) and having a guy like that is so crucial to being able to survive in the trades. It’s extremely tough to find multiple people that wanna show up and have the same drive to grind through the tough times. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into what it takes on a daily basis.
I am a building contractor and I love to build and see men work their craftsmanship. I grew up swinging a hammer, yeah, back in my time, we swung hammers and not nail guns. I still wear a apron, but learning my limits and mainly supervise and bid jobs, you see, I am 60 years old, and not a young buck, but I still get out there. Only thing I would have done I saw you didn't do, was where the drive meets the asphalt road, code requires a "turn down footer" at that intersection, DOT requirement, but keep up the good work
There is 100% no excuse to why they think it's ok to NO CALL NO SHOW,ESPECIALLY SEEING HOW AWESOME YOU TREAT THEM. sheesh if I was from Wisconsin I'd switch professions in a heart beat and show your crew what it's like to never call out/miss a day of work
Glad Erick turned up, bugs is a legend always there and mostly on time or early man if I lived close by I love to work with a group of guys like you a lot
I love your channel, work, and work ethic. i own and operate an auto body shop and i feel your pain with this one. I went through this same phase several years ago and now I'm just doing it solo. ill probably never really grow as a business but I've been burned too many times by employees that I'm not even interested any more.
This level of precision and finish with something that is inherently sloppy, messy, and heavy is truly the mark of masters. I salute you and will be subscribing and following for the long haul. Thank you for the great content.
Man if I wasn’t Doing Welding as a Trade I’ll Move to your state just to help out the Business, and Been watching for awhile Keep up the Concrete Business
@@aquahero How would you know, There are people out there that want to work hard for their $$$ and that's what concrete is, hard work. If you can follow instructions you could start at any time.
Love the videos, keep em coming, I like your mentality towards the ups and downs, as far as the daryls go, I won’t tell you what to do but I think it’s quite obvious that bugs is the man, anyone that has worked concrete or construction like I have knows that (bugs) are few and far between, keep up the good work
I used to drive concrete wagons in Wales United Kingdom, and once I delivered concrete to a guy on his own and he had the straight edges down just wider than the wagon but he chained a steel beam (heavy duty) to the back of the truck so every time I moved forward the beam was levelling the concrete to a finish it required at the end I must say it was ok. Great videos keep up the great work
Hey bro, Cody here from Michigan. Just wanted to send a comment your way and say I love your content. More importantly your positive attitude and the willingness to push forward. I had no choice but to subscribe and watch your videos. Also just wanted to give your company a compliment in saying your guys work is amazing! To bad I’m all the way in Michigan or I’d ask you to do my driveway haha. Keep up the hard work. Best wishes from Cody in Michigan!
Good job guys, bugs you’re the man and Erik, you hang in there and keep watering those work ethics and morals and you’ll grow into a fine man someday brother!
if i lived in the same country as you i would be happy to help you on days when you need people. But no matter how many people you have, you always deliver top quality.. respect! keep doing what you do.
You are a true inspiration! As an electrical contractor I gave up on relying on employee's. Had 2 crews going at one point nothing but headaches. I'm down to one reliable worker, ME. Luckily I can do this in my trade, if the job is bigger than just me I just pass. I really commend you, love your video's, keep up the great work! Just curious, I'm from the northeast and here we leave the edges left from the edging tools, I personally like the look just wondering why you guys smooth them out/ eliminate them.
Eric deserves some slack when other people don’t show it puts stress on the whole crew, but Bugs and Boss man are grizzled veterans, they know how the handle it all, Eric might be young and strong but if he overworks himself we’re only human.
@@memo134 it’s easy to say that until as a boss you run out of people to hire. You start taking the little imperfections in someone over constantly firing and hiring trying to get a “perfect” employee.
Way to finish the week! You need to ask Bugs if he has any family that are looking for employment, he is reliable and steady. I was glad to see Eric came in too!
Wish I lived where you work!!! Looks like a bunch of fun!! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to learn for myself!❤️ love the channel continue the great work!!❤️
You are an awesome boss. I’ve worked at my job for almost 20 years and I’ve never missed a day, and I’ve never gotten any gratitude or a bonus or anything. Feels bad. Keep up the positivity!!!
Papi what's crazy? In my field also over 20yrs no call no show is termination, you better be a star employee with years under your belt to see another shift after a no call no show
In plumbing to. No call no show = no job.. shows alot about ur character if you dont have 2 minutes to call or text the boss to give a heads up.. Has to be a good reason for that
You’re a great boss man I can’t compute why your employees would do that to you, they must not understand how blessed they are to be able to work for you.
I know it has been happening a lot in my area. Even McDonalds is offering $20 an hour starting on a billboard outside. You see jobs being posted online for $15-$17 requiring education and years of experience and they wonder why no one is applying.
Dannnng, good to see that Eric showed up!! Also, I don't work outside, but I do work in a warehouse 70+ hrs a week so I (kinda) get it. I can't imagine working in the blazing sun all day. Keep up the grind, you and your teams work is top notch!
Glad to see your son got to help and Eric showed up. I'm sure Eric might of helped on a side job after a work day and just burnt out. Life of a finisher always work after work on a side job or help other guys for some extra cash. The older you get the faster it gets old chasing that extra money...
This is what it means to be a boss/owner of a small business. Giving your loyal employees what they deserve and treating them as humans and not as just another name on the payroll. I wish more people ran businesses like you
Damn it man!! Wish i was in the area id hop in and grind with you guys everyday of the week. Keep up the great work. P.s first time viewer and subbed in the first 45 sec of the video
So I was having a strange day at work as a supervisor yesterday. Slept on it woke up still trying to find answers. Then this video appears on my feed as if to say listen to the words. Thank you for the advice and I’m gonna do exactly what you told me at the beginning of the video and I will leave that way as well so I’m sure things happen for a reason. Thanks again.
Yup, not sure if Ryan was joking but he has said multiple times that Bob one of his drivers was Daryl Jrs grandpa and Daryl's dad and he also hasn't been on any of the videos since he also called out sick awhile back. Hopefully its nothing serious but no call no shows really hurt the productivity of team, especially when you can't replace them ahead of time because of the lack of communication.
"nobody wants to show up and I'm tired of it." But how much are you paying them? A lot of people are done working demanding jobs for minnimum wage that can't even pay rent in their area. I don't know your area or specifics but that might be a reason. Beautiful work by the way!
I work in the tree industry as climber and a worker can be x3 a regular person with drive and brains. I can't get anyone to pay me more then 35 (I have 4 years experience) and so I need to work for myself. If someone gave me the chance at 35 I'd bring in far more money. Nobody wants to pay.
It's poor work ethic. You accepted to do the job. Finish what you committed to then negotiate your pay if you feel its deserved. I'll never hire anyone that has walked out on job.
He'll probably last till over 100. Staying active and fit is good for your body and keeps everything running smoothly. The ones who sit around and waste their golden years typically don't last as long.
We have this same problem in our factory. We sometimes have 6 quit in one day. It sucks so much. Treat those guys good that stay long term. I know you do, but they are showing you a lot of love by sticking it through.
This is crazy. Yesterday this saying resonated with me “Life what you make it” and this video is a perfect example of that. Employees did no call no shows, he even said one texted him “on my way” and never showed. As a boss and in his situation I couldn’t imagine. But he kept saying “just gotta stay positive and not let it bother me” And choose that. He choose to make it that way. Life’s what you make it. If you stress and freak, the day will be like that. Keep slaying 💪
