It’s strange that Bitesda didn’t add a logical option to “Father’s” question: What is your motive for destroying the institute. "Why am I doing this? Because the first thing I saw when I woke up was 2 killers who kill my wife (If you are a male character) or husband (if you are a female character) and steal my child, then my own son releases me to freedom and instead of taking me to a safe place, he simply watches me like a laboratory rat, whether I survive or not. And after all this, you ask me why I’m doing this, well, I don’t even know what to answer... " such dialogue would be good. Instead of those that Bitesda inserted!
He had more than 30 years to save his parent , yet he choose keeping his parent as a backup. That was enough to prove Shaun was a cold blood person who obsessed with science, and that was his nature.
It's not clear when Father became Director or learned of the mission in Vault 111. But he likely waited too long i.e. until he realized he would die of cancer.
Bethesda missed a good opportunity for a hidden ending. They should have made it possible to save Father as an in-game secret (maybe not apparent at launch but as months go by the players figure it out).
Thing is, we've known for a while that the Cabot mysterious serum extends natural human lifespan, X6-88 thinks you should give it to the Bioscience guys but this is never possible in-game. We also known the Institute experimented with FEV which originally started out as a pan-immunity project pre-War (ended up creating monsters, but they were immune to disease, radiation and didn't seem to age).
Now that you mention it, he does. It's really just Shaun's voice actor with a simple sound effect. Worth reusing if you ever plan on making a Thanos companion for Fallout lol.
I don't think synths work that way. Now in Fallout lore you can extract brains, are they compatible with a synth body? I don't think anyone's tested it. The synths in Fallout 4 have their own brain.
@@toromontana8290 but some have human memories, so in gen 3 cases is a brain transplant one of the options? one of the farmers was 'replaced' as was the leader of far harbor, or did they extract the memories and somehow transferd them like with Nik
Looking at the robobrains, many people cannot safely have brain transplants as they don't understand/comprehend/are unable to handle being in a different body. Father may be one of the people who couldn't have a brain transplant. If this was a human like body (I.e a synth) then this may be different. However, the institute can manufacture memories for synths. This means that all of Father's memories and his thought process could be added to a synth. But this would be a copy of Father. Father would doe, his copy would live on .
It's also possible to use a modified version of the mysterious serum, but that requires access to the Institute (you can still choose to betray them later)
Institute: murderers. Railroad: self-deluded fools. Brotherhood: fascists. Minutemen: bunglers. No matter how hard I try to make a different story, I always end up helping the bunglers.
I see it more as: Institute - scientific dictatorship/dystopia/communists Railroad - social justice warriors Brotherhood - fascists (got that right) Minutemen - libertarians (albeit some pretty helpless ones)
@@mrcocoloco7200 Not purely but there doesn't seem to be any kind of free market economy, plus they don't even trade with the rest of the Commonwealth, if they want something from a settlement they take it. There is no real freedom, albeit a lot of scientists are too busy with their research to care. You basically do what Father or the Directorate says.
@@toromontana8290 the railroad doesn't care about the people, they only care about the synths and themselves, if you side with the minutemen, they'll reject you because "your people aren't dont like synths"
@@kels98761 it really only has a bunch of crashes if you have bad mods on PC otherwise it has been fine for me. PS4 I can understand because of the errors and bugs
This would have been an awesome ending decision. What would make it even better is if he becomes a new Master for DLC or a future game. Driven mad like Richard Grey before him.
When modders make a better story than Bethesda. The Institute and the Railroad are both loony tunes. What's that leave you with? BoS and the Minutemen and the BoS aren't exactly the best faction either but at least they want order.
The way I see it, the Brotherhood & Minutemen both have something to bring to the table, so an alliance between them would have made quite a bit of sense. The Brotherhood by far has the most resources & manpower available aside from the Institute, but they lack the kind of familiarity with the Commonwealth that the Minutemen have, while the Minutemen may not have the kind of resources or manpower that the Brotherhood does, but they can make do with whatever they can cobble together and the general population of peaceful settlements will at least have heard of them and know that the Minutemen are there to help. So by working together, you could have situations where if the Minutemen learn a settlement is about to come under attack (by Raiders, mutated beasts, Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, etc.), they could send word to the Brotherhood, who could dispatch a Vertibird carrying Power Armored Brotherhood troops to the settlement to help defend it, while the Brotherhood could ask the Minutemen for help locating certain resources and technology that they may be looking for but don't know precisely where to find it while the Minutemen might have a better idea about the most likely places to find what the Brotherhood is looking for.
I wish that someone would make a mod to make it so as the leader of the minutemen a member of the brotherhood of steel an agent of the railroad and the parent of father to convince the rest of the members of the factions to bring them together and make a treaty and alliance with one another
Well there's Project Valkyrie for that and I'm also working on a mod that allows an Institute-Railroad alliance once you become Director. The mod will also allow you to lie to Father that you killed the Railroad, sparing the faction. With the mod I'm working on, you'll be able to have a Minutemen-Railroad-Institute ending but BoS will still have to die.
I think it would be very hard to get the Institute and Railroad together. I can definitely see a Brotherhood-Minutemen alliance though, especially with the mod that makes it an option for Dance to become leader of the Brotherhood.
I just don't see an alliance between anyone but the Minutemen + Railroad, or Minutemen + Institute. The Railroad and Institute just won't work because the Institute doesn't see synths as anything but machines, and the Railroad will never accept that. Brotherhood of Steel views synths as abominations that must be destroyed on sight, going so far as you deem you an enemy for so much as just hanging out with Danse. Even if as Director the Sole Survivor could convince the Insitute to treat synths as equals there would still be those who viewed them as Institute property or attemp a rebellion. And nobody but the Minutemen would back the Sole Survior up.
I know the mod is meant to give Father a second chance but listening to the dialogue in the first 4 minutes of this video pisses me off. When you turn him down he calls you the enemy if you leave, then here when you confront him as to why you're here he goes "well I never thought you'd be one of them". Dude LITERALLY calls you one just because you don't want to join the Institute then turns around and gaslights you. Your spouse would be rolling in their grave knowing how horrible of a person their son grew up to be.
Every woman must also make her own decision and I had no trouble deciding to leave him behind. Using him as an FEV experiment after he treated his own mother as an experiment is pretty cool too, though. I just wouldn't let him hang with me after. I'd prefer to banish him somewhere with only Marcy Long for company.
I took over the common wealth with the institute & now they have their flags flying in diamond city, then I brought the nuka world raiders to the common wealth. It's a mad house
I chose to let Shaun die. The fact he knew you were still frozen and waited decades to release you, then ontop he uses Synth Shaun as bait. Even had the audacity to program Shaun to think your his parent leaving a holotape as a last haha.
Nora has so many lines you can make her say almost anything. I just copied stuff she says in other quests and stitched them together in Audacity. There is some cut content as well.
Ok wth... I've played through FO4 about 6 times and I never even knew you could save Shaun... wow Edit: this mod is amazing. Had me fooled into thinking I missed a hidden ending somehow. Props to whoever made it
A friend fooled me after I had done my first playthrough. He said the mole rat disease serum from vault 88 could cure father. Of course it couldn't, and the Vault 88 people hated me. I told him after and he laughed. He said, "Sorry, I meant Lorenzo's serum. Yeah, that's it. Or was it the medicine for McCready's kid? "
You should have used this mod and the joke's on him. Sort of lol. The Vault 81 cure won't actually help, it's the research that can. So you can save both Austin and Father.
Vault Dweller: I'm a hero, and I had to leave. The Chosen One: I saved my tribe and reunited our long lost relatives from Vault 13 with us in Arroyo Lone Wanderer: I'm just a child that grew up on Vault 101, even though I was never really from there, and my father died too because of the Enclave. Courier: I'm just a nobody Mary sue Courier that got shot in the head then came back to life just to be the Merriest Sue of them all. Sole Survivor: They... Shot my husband... Took my baby... Ruined my family... Alright, take whatever pick you want, it's all up to you to judge who's the best.
I started playing Fallout 4 for the first time in 2024 just a few weeks before the Fallout Series came out. It was fun until recently. My last two play throughs are messed up. As soon as I get in the institute now I can’t fast travel and can’t leave the institute. WTF? I used a cheat to get out but still couldn’t fast travel. Had to go back to a previous save before I was in the institute.
@@Salemchevy I had the conversation with the Dr. She says I’m giving you this chip so you can fast travel in and out anytime you want. Hand me your Pipboy. But she never takes my pipboy and never gives me the chip. I played this before the recent update and it worked fine.
There is another Mod where it's called Father Companion...you give Father your son the mysterious serem from Lazarus you got when you were working for the Cabot house.
@@toromontana8290 LOL, I just realized that and was commenting on the dialogue...but yeah, I checked out the mod and see that it has more than one option....think I like the mysterious serem option....LOL
Really interesting but totally improbable and unrealistic, you must admit. This whole story path puts Nora's sanity into question. What monster of a mother in her right mind would inject her son with FEV knowing fully well what it does? No matter how degenerate and delusional her son has become, this is quite unthinkable. Letting him go is the most humane thing to do. Plus, Shaun joining her after the turning is all the more ridiculous. Becoming a loyal follower of a mad woman who just destroyed his life's work + turned him into an irreversible monstrosity.
ur FEVing wrong your thinking of the old fev this isn't the original FEV Its the version that the insitute made so its reversable and the mind seems to stay mostly intact with it
U won't understand what to feel for a mother to losing her son, and the bigger monster here it still the instutius, thier not saving the humanity future their just lie to themselves to turn the world into the lie and soulless lack of empenty and morality future that human are just act like the machine, humanity can't lose what to called the humanity thing on thier soul their not a machine not a soulless creatures, every resistance members was act more like the human then the instutius human thier act by thier best of emotional soul like character
she injected him with the insitute’s FEV, he needed it to survive the cancer (i suppose). Nora already knows that Institute FEV can be cured if she brought virgil the cure and that thanks to virgil it will soon be available . plus he’s not a monster, he kept all intellectual abilities since his dna was not mutated
So question about the marked for termination mod why remove the ability to remove the chip from the cyborg and why remove it but not the dialogue hinting at it
Sure, after the first Directorate meeting, talk to Dr. Volkert about saving Father. Then bring him Jack Cabot's Mysterious Serum and a copy of the research from Vault 81. He'll make a cure for cancer, then you can destroy the Institute.
The institute ending is the only ending. I hope is the canon one, imagine how good would be life is everyone is important just do the right thing everytime, on the top of that you leading the institute could means the kidnapping will stop if you wanted it.
There is an alternate peaceful ending in the Project Valkyrie mod, I'm also working on a separate one though that's more of an alternate joint Institute+Railroad ending where you take over the Institute as Director and free the synths that way.
@@toromontana8290 I don't want violence but it would be really nice. I'm a pacifist myself so...resolving it without any dead would be awesome. (BOS could die maybe)
@@RonanInLan In my ending, the BoS will have to die. (though peace could still happen, maybe I'll do a questline where the new Elder travels to the Commonwealth for an audience with the Director)
Yeah it’s just the institute doesn’t care about the people of the common wealth and they legit say that they can’t wait until all of the people in the wasteland die
I wanna save Shaun, but not transforming in a Supermutant. I wanna Shaun human but with White Power Armor from Institute. I can have from this mod or another?
@@toromontana8290 I love fallout and it’s lore and mods, but this particular one just seemed random especially since I’ve never watched this channel before haha
I have a mod called genetical Father that makes father look more like Nate and Nora depending on their appearances and skin colors would this mod be compatible with genetical Father?
Destroying the institute is the dumbest decision, yeah...destroy the most advance civilization ever created, in contrast of the bos ,you can be the leader and basically in the future being able of changing many infamous things they were doing...the bos is just stuck and would ever will in time, using outdated machinery from 200 years ago ,and with elder maxson being so young it would be impossible to ever replace that fellow...just in case the player has the wet dream of becoming elder...the deus tell you NO, at the end any decision is quite dumb, you could have an agreement with the institute if you character was good in speaking skills...imagine the recognition and experience power of the bos combine with the technology and wisdom of the institute? America could be restored once more
The most 'advance' civilization wouldn't need to use people as cannon fodder. Nazi Germany was like this history. It is just repeating no matter who's faction is right they all want to save the world but disagree on how...
Not recruitable. He always attacks no matter what you say. But in the vanilla there was another group of Institute survivors you could help in a random event.
I killed the institute and the railroad on every playthrough. I dont think "father" is shaun coz I'm not convinced of his reasoning behind not wanting to release the pc coz "he doesnt know what type of person pc is"...that's bullshyt on so many levels.
