Another great job, Eric! Thank you so much! Nature has its good, bad and ugly sides. Unfortunately, so does mankind.

Hi, Eric! It's so heartbreaking to see the woods all torn up like that. Fires, floods, now this? We're wondering why all that good wood couldn't be donated to needy folks for next year's firewood, artisans to create lovely things with, for fenceposts, building-anything but just lying there, being wasted. That's idiotic, and contributes to fire danger. And we hope that hikers are warned that trees, and limbs are cracked and damaged above still so no one gets hurt. Folks don't seem to think about that after wind and ice storms, especially out of towners. And the heavy tourist season is nearly here! Thanks, Eric for keeping we Smoky lovers updated, for better or worse. Love to your girls! 🙂❤️🌳

I agree with you Eric. Common sense seems to not be a quality they look for in managing our woodlands. I've gone through the park many times and thought the same thing you have. Love your channel.

Oh boy - I'm in Walland and I remember this - lightning bolt struck the apt I rent out on my property - renter had moved but it took out the heater and friend the thermostat......then when the snow hit my pipes under the apartment and in the ceiling of the garage broke - couldn't afford to fix that so I just had to turn off the water and wait until I can get help! What a mess!

😭😭 Were you filming near the big pull out at MM9.78 (just up from The Loop) that goes down to the river? I'm afraid to even know what that looks like now. It was our engagement spot. We went down to the river from the pull out.

Eric my problem with the park service is they charge for the parking permit so they would have money to do more work in the park and that's great. but whoever is in charge should know there is more than one way to clean up a fallen tree. they obviously had a front end loader to push everything over the side with and we know they have dump trucks to haul it off ,, that wood could have been given to people to heat with, and you can contract with people to haul it out but instead just leave it to rot over the next 25 years and make the park look like crap that makes no sense to me as far as habitat there is already plenty there.. this practice of leaving all this laying on the ground added to the fire situation a few years back so what could this add to any future catastrophic fire..why not work with local people and work out a future plan to clean it up instead of piling it up this is just my opinion because we love the smokeys

Several solid takes here Dennis. Hopefully they have some plans for removal. Only time will tell. Thanks as always!

I agree with you. I’ve lived on both sides of the mountain, Sevierville, Tenn. & Swain County, NC. Neither side of the forestry or park officials would sell permits for wood clearing or allow anyone to access the downed lumber. Never made any sense to me.
