I always saw Haibara as Watson. She is good with medicine, Watson was a doctor. Haibara and Conan both are good at sparring with each other just like Holmes & Watson. And Haibara has assisted Conan many times with his cases.

Haibara is my most favorite character in Conan, apart from Shinichi. She's mysterious but very intelligent... Her analytical and deduction skills are almost at par with Shinichi's.

It is really a shame that Detective Conan doesn't have a lot of viewers in North America. Great video except for that evil thumbnail tbh. In later episodes, I think only Rei Furuya has the same character complexity as Haibara, so are you going to do an analysis on Zero in the future? I'm just fascinated with this character, her develop it's in my personal opinion, the best developing arc of this anime. She's a such a gray character, she has been coward but she overcome her fear (authentic streght) she's strong and brave even when she can't fight with martial arts like Ran, this point it's so important bc a lot of people think that a girl who doesn't know how to fight with martial arts it's a synonimous of weak, Haibara shows that's not. She know how to use a gun, she's a genious and a sciencist, she's a tsundere girl (this type of tropo it's so underrated in the female characters). I'm the type of person who thinks it's pretty obvious she has strong feelings for Conan, and even when she knows she has no posibilities she keeps strong, and next of him. This is bc she has a warm and strong heart, and she love him so much. Haibara depends of Conan and her other friends, maybe but again I don't thik so this is a bad thing. I mean, humans are socials animals, we need other people, and love makes us stronger, Haibara it's this type of girl. I first read Detective Conan mangas when I was 6 years old at a friend's place. I think he had up to volume 18 and lend them to me for two weeks that I spent just devouring the storyline. I remember that even back then I adored her character, though mostly because of her badassery and the mystery surrounding her. Over the years it became incredibly interesting to think more about the character's feelings and motivations in Detective Conan and I realized that taking the pill that made her shrink wasn't a ploy to escape and live a new life, but most likely a suicide attempt. She had been separated from most of her family for such a long time, her parents being dead and forced to grow up in the US separated from her sister. She had lost the only person in the world that truly cared for her, and saw no reason to keep going. After her escape she was traumatized and constantly feared that her mere existence endangered those around her, contributing to her incredibly self-sacrificial acts throughout the earlier parts of the show and Movie 5. Only with time and the effort of all those around her did she start opening up to people who didn't know about her past, slowly growing more comfortable with the idea that she did in fact have a future, a life to live and a new and first real childhood to live through. she lost more and more of her weariness and seeing her grow from someone at their very lowest point and building themselves up with a strong and healthy support system around them is just a beautiful storyline. The fact that she can very much keep up with Conan and often helps out with her own expertise and honestly doesn't hide her adult-ness very much also makes her an interesting and fun character to have in an episode to balance out Conan and contrast with other children. Ai has been my favourite character in any anime (and often also just generally all media unless I am hyperfixating on another show with a character going through a similar character arc) for 13 years now, and no matter how the show ends I think it will stay that way for much, much longer afterwards as well.

Its because she is the only one not idiot girl in the story 😂🤣 She literally is the most helpful to conan and cause the less problem to him She complements conan so great and their chemistry is sweet Im sad the most affection she show is the movie 19 and now since then its getting more and more reducing I also love how vermouth is taking care of conan and ran 😆

I agree with you for this analysis. I myself love Ai and a bit unsure why she has seem to be a bit out of character recently, but this analysis made sense. the sorrowful turned to the Loved Ai. Queen of darkness to goddess of Loli (light). But I see her as a Watson to Holmes more than an Irene Adler, but I think she can be both.

I'm currently at the Bourbon arc and it's sad to hear that Amuro is another spy like the Black organization has so much already, kir, Akai (undercover member) lt seems like it needs actual members like Gin vodka and vermouth

You singlehanded restored my faith into aoyama again... i didnt know he changed Bourbons purpose and backstory... now I have some kind of hope again, that he will change shiho/shinichi too... they dont have to get together while the story is still in peogress bur in the end he will hopefully see that ran isnt a real girlfriend. Also ai and conan settling with their knowledge that she loves him and just be content with that to not destroy the friendship is the most wonderful thing to see innthos 20 years i loved them

The person who I think will be sacrificed is Vermouth personally she’s an important ally to Conan, she always helps him out either in secret or not, for example in Movie 13: The Raven Chaser, she just told him about their whole plan of infiltrating the meeting and whatnot and told him everything he needs to know about Irish. She’s an important character and I will be very surprised if she doesn’t die personally.

Personally, I dont think Kudo knows about how Haibara feels about him. While Kudo indeed has an extremely high IQ, theres one thing that hes consistently been shown to have less knowledge about, and thats love. I dont remember the exact case, but there was one where Kudo mistook a man for being someones boyfriend, where that person ended up actually being their dad. In fact, it was Mori Kogoro, the guy whos constally being treated like an idiot in the show, who ended up proving Kudo wrong. I think this also counts as one of Kudos flaws, that despite his nearly unrivaled deduction skill, his knowledge on love is still bested by the average adult.

I actually stopped watching the show because I was angry that she'd never win, but I'll probably come back to it anyway. I'm still angry though.

I just wish that Aoyama would give us an alternate ending where conan and ai end up together

In fact, when I was searching for thumbnails for my Detective Conan's Character Analysis videos, I always searched on Google "*** was paralyzed by Conan", to get a thumbnail. But I didn't expect that there would be such a big difference when I changed this *** from Mōri Kogorō to Haibara Ai...😳😳😳😳 But I think it's fun and can attract viewers, so I just used it as the thumbnail. By the way, when I was doing the Conan analysis video, I couldn't find a photo of Conan being paralyzed by himself, so I just chose one by the way. I know this is like 9 months late, but Gosho didn't actually change Rei to be an undercover agent due to popularity, it was actually stated that when designing his character, he thought it would be really cool if he was a good guy. Though on his original idea he was supposed to be someone who was seriously bad news... (i mean he is but you get the idea)

I've been watching DC ever since I could remember watching TV from when I was a child really so I could practically say that it's been with me my entire lifetime, I'm 25 now and even though it's impossible since Gosho has been pushing the ShinRan agenda way too much recently with them dating and hinting at it every other episode rather than it being once every a few 10s of episodes so yeah he is definitely going to keep it that way but it would be the best thing to happen in my life EVER if CoAi/ShinShi ever happened 😭😭😭😭😭😭 like even as an alternative ending idk😭 I've always loved Haibara and I could relate to her so much and I love her exactly for all the reasons you have mentioned and even after DC ends, Haibara Ai will stay with me forever ❤ Ran is nice and I like her a lot I don't hate her and I do believe that she deserves to be happy as much as Haibara or anyone else does...but they just don't click her and Shinichi like I don't see it nor feel it. They don't really share anything like Shinichi has his own world and she has her own world (personality and preferences wise) and they just don't seem to intersect anywhere other than in the school and neighbourhood setting which really makes her just like any other classmate/neighbour but the difference is that she is a close friend who's very nice, kind, caring and fun to be around which I believe you need way more than that for a relationship and that I find between Haibara ai/Shiho and Conan/Shinichi. Oh God I could vent my frustration about this for years and it wouldn't be enough😂

Ai is a third shot at making a proper heroine. Ran is too out of touch of Shinichi, her personality doesn't go well with him (she acts like a possessive gf most of the time) and can't be "there" with him (she isn't aware of his situation and therefore can't be as supportive as she wants). Ayumi ... she's a child and it would be creepy for Conan (who's mentally a teen) to be romantically attached to a kid half his age. Ai just doesn't have those problems, and is given a lot of opportunity to gain chemistry with Conan (being in the same situation, being a mental and intellectual match with him, can be as supportive as she wants when it comes to solving cases or fighting the Black Org).
