As a Wings fan, I agree with the jersey. I was thinking 6.5 , but the uniform overall was an 8 for me. There's enough black used, without overdoing it. Except it reminds me of the Canes and Hawks slightly.
Really appreciated the artistic take on the room in relation to the jersey. That was interesting. As for the jersey, it has grown on me and I quite like it now, but I personally think it doesn't look too good on the ice (on tv), the black and red clash and it looks quite dull as a result imo. Anyway, it looks great in pictures in uniform and the white lettering pops quite nicely.
I mean I think it was decent but the good thing about this is now that they've used black on a jersey they can now use it for the future and for a potential winter classic or any potential specialty jersey they have black would print money imo like the red wings logo on a black jersey just like the devils would look so good and all you have to do is change the main colour so hoping for that sometime in the future for Detroit. P.s I could be wrong but I feel like this is one of if not the only team where the helmet pants and gloves are the actual color of the jersey and match it so well but someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'd give them bonus points for that.
I wasn't a fan of the jersey when it was first revealed. But I like the uniform as a whole. I also like the close up shots of the jersey. The stripes originally looked printed on. But knowing that it is stitched makes it look better than I first thought.
As a Wings fan, this uniform was *almost* everything I wanted. I didn't like the black as it's not technically an official color. I wish the goalies played along and did something different with their pads. It looks much better as a whole uniform. I agree, how did Adidas let this happen with Chicago? Two of the best/most iconic logos in Hockey both going with a word mark. The difference for me is that Detroit did wear the script Detroit in their history and Chicago did not. Chicago's leaking first totally took the wind out of Detroit's sails, people thought Chicago did it "first".
I actually really like this uniform a lot. I do feel that it's too similar to Chicago, but going back through history, that's kind of how it was. Good take on it.
Jersey might look better if they had the winged wheel as a shoulder patch or the Detroit style 'D' maybe. Still have this ranked in 31st and would give it 4 /10.
This is, in a way, what I wanted them to do the first time around. I do like this jersey and the whole uniform is better. They are kind of limited in what they can do. They haven't changed much about their jerseys since the 1930s and a lot of what they did before that has been rehashed in a specialty jersey. They had to introduce black to this jersey to help distinguish it from past jerseys because they have only ever had a primary (red) and secondary (white) colour, so taking a tertiary colour and making it the primary jersey colour like a lot of teams do with their alternates was off the table. The only other thing I can think of them doing without going completely off-brand would be to substitute the white with an off-white.
I know it's a low bar to clear, but I'm glad they did something much more inspired than they did with RR 1.0. I live in MI, and I don't think I know anybody that has their RR 1.0 jersey. I know a handful of people that either have the 2.0 jersey or intend to get it. I intend to get it as well. I think it'll look great with my black jeans 😆
The thing I don’t understand is why the stripes are black. The jersey this is based off of was white with red stripes so why not do red with white stripes? Why black when that wasn’t the color on the original jersey. If the stripes were white with red fonts in them this would be a 10/10
I actually really like it 8 out of 10 especially after seeing it in person on fans at the recent game I went to. I may be a little biased since they are my favorite team
First take was not positive for me with this jersey. The more i have looked at it, its a thumbs up for me. Jersey by itself is still just okay 7/10 but the whole uniform is really good 8.5/10
5.5/10. Not a fan of the wordmark and no Red Wings logo, but there was full effort and of course, this is way better than their last Reverse Retro. Detroit doesn't have a lot of jerseys in their history because like Montreal, their jerseys have been about the same no matter which company makes their jerseys. I love how the names and numbers fit in the black stripes or in the back numbers case, starts at the bottom of the top stripe and ends at the top of the bottom stripe. I also love the captain and alternate patches. It is unique that the letter is in a diamond. I will make sure to get mine with Larkin's name and number, but I will wait for a price drop as I think they won't sell that well.
I think this is a decent choice. I've always liked the original jersey. And the black edition 👀 Hopefully this opens the door to a black 3rd or RR in the future. However I do think the Chicago one is better, I like the crazy striping over this. Still decent like I said 6/10
if Chicago had not created a similar jersey would we appreciate its call out to the 1991-1992 75th anni sweater more? I don’t love it but at least this is rooted in a real retro/vintage jersey, right?
This I the jersey I really wanted from the Wings, but I think the black doesn’t look as good as it would have with just red and white. I also wish they would’ve done a little bit of black on the collar just to break up all the red and make it look not as empty
Chicago never had a jersey like that besides their striping. Detroit's was a throwback to the 75th anniversary jewelry from 1991 which in itself was a throwback to the original detroit cougars in 26. I wish people would realize this and stop saying detroit copied Chicago.
Adidas hates the Red Wings, it's confirmed haha! I would've loved a Reverse Retro of one of their Winter Classics. Especially the 2014 one. Black has NEVER been a part of the Wings colors.
Does anyone else notice the sewing job on the jersey looks rushed or bad for the Wings? I handle the jerseys for the college team I work for, so maybe it just sticks out for me over an average fan.
The Red Wings Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey is one of the worst one of the 2.0 line but I will say when I saw it in full uniform in photos it doesn't look that bad but I will pick the RR 2.0 jersey over the 1.0 RR the RR 1.0 jersey was basically a practice jersey but looks kinda better with a name and number
Neil did you know this the 1st time Detroit has ever used black in a jersey in history? Between Chicago and Detroit RR 2.0 jersey Detroit did better because Chicagos makes me think of Christmas but also the Devil's Jersey Jersey alternate.

I own every brand, home and away, and every specialty jersey Detroit has used since the early 90's. I will NOT buy this one. It's a Blackhawks jersey with the word Detroit on it. This makes their Reverse Retro 1.0 look like a master piece. If they had used white for the stripes instead of black it would have been brilliant, but black is not, and should never be, in the Red Wings colour palette.
The Red Wings have been around for 95 years. During that time, they were ALWAYS red and white. Nothing else. No black. No blue. No yellow. Red and White. I don't care how many jerseys the NHL or team DESIGN and SELL, but nothing belongs on the team EXCEPT red and white. F this retro, reverse retro, stadium series stuff. RED & WHITE ONLY.
Actually, this is incorrect. From 1930 to 1932 when they were the Detroit Falcons they had the words Detroit Falcons in yellow outlined in red on the front and the numbers on the back were yellow outlined in red.
@@russiancrowe13 TECHNICALLY, yesb but FALCONS are not equal to RED WINGS. Those 2 seasons were before the Winged Wheel logo was designed. There never was a Falcons logo or artwork, just the word. Also the yellow trim was only used in 32...at height of depression as a fan design competition to draw more people into the game.
