Im mad. Honestly this was Detroit's real chance to go ahead and do something crazy without getting backlash. If the ducks can get away with wild wing, if Calgary can get away with blasty, then why cant detroit try something? Like if anyone remembers the 2014 winter classic jersey we had, it would look increadible in cream as the main color. I'D LOVE A CREAM REDWINGS JERSEY. Hell if we're thinking outside the box go ahead and toss a black jersey out there because I've talked to plenty of wings fans who'd absolutely love a black red wings jersey because you truly cannot go wrong with red and black. That old D logo in a red jersey would be awesome. Just so many things we could have done and they said lets just take an away jersey but instead of red on the sleeve lets put silver. Im dissapointed. I am annoyed. Huge swing and a miss. Huge foul ball on a bunt attempt. I expected more from this.

As a Red Wings fan, I completely agree with you: I’m pretty disappointed. The only decent thing about it is the lettering/numbering on the back. But that does very little to save from the lack of, well, anything else on the jersey.

As a die hard/lifelong Wings fan. You don't mess with tradition. Period. You go win the most cups as far as the American Hockey teams and see if you mess with a legacy like ours. I like the jersey.

This was the product of the NHL deciding all 31 teams were going to do a reverse retro. Wings don't need a retro or reverse retro. The home and away are all we need. You don't mess with perfection.

Can't be super competitive forever. Ken Holland takes some blame for making the Play Off streak more important than the future of the team. Once Lidstrom retired, the rebuild should've begun. He screwed the Wings for years.

They should've gone with their jersey from the late 1920s with the horizontal stripes and "Detroit" written across the chest except instead of having a white jersey with red stripes make it a red jersey with white stripes.

I don’t mind this jersey. It looks really clean and from the front the lack of red makes you look at the logo and numbers and I like that. I do wish there was more red though. This jersey will look amazing on the ice if they do add more red to the socks and pants 6/10 just the jersey. But if they do it good (add more red) then 10/10 on the ice.

as a Detroit Red Wings fan I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of effort. Yes we all know there really isnt much that they can do with the original 6 teams. I am no graphic designer or Photoshop editor but I think I could make jerseys better than what we got.

Ride-or-die wings fan; I completely agree. I was so disappointed. I've seen mockups on Reddit that are far better than the actual one. I love collecting Wings jerseys, but this may be one of the few I'm going to pass on. It seems like a less colorful version of the away jersey.

seems i’m the only person in the world who doesn’t mind this jersey. the wings don’t really have a ton of options considering their main jerseys have been the same since the dawn of time... so i get what they were trying to do. would’ve been cooler if they made just a blacked out jersey with red stripes. idk though.

Detroit’s ЯR is a colossal miss. There were so many better options. Respectful does not need to be boring (e.g., Edmonton.) I’ll have to see what the full kit looks like, I guess. The Red Wings and Islanders must have a secret compact to see who can put forth the least effort and still hock the most ЯRs.

As a wings fan, give all the hate. I had hopes they'd bring the winter classic vibe. Basically they took the road white and replaced the red with the silver. If they were honoring '98 i would have wanted the "VK/SM" patch remembering the crash after the 97 Stanley cup win. Vladdy and Sergei should be remembered on this jersey. Juat my opinion. The jersey overall is solid if unremarkable, but that patch would put this over the top.

All they needed to do was make the grey areas red. Which would bring back their original white look before they made the sleeves red with the white stripe like on their whites now. Other than that I like it.

As much as it sucks the one thing I like about this design is that the year has more significant than the design itself. It's inspired from the 1998 season (the same thing worn now) and it was a very important year in franchise history.

I think they should’ve been bold. People are going to hate it if you’re too safe like this and the “purists” are going to hate it if it’s bold, but a bold jersey builds a need to get it because it is so different

its just a DIY jersey. just buy a plain whit jersey, slap on the Detroit logo and numbers and get duct tape for the grey part. boom now you have a reverse retro Detroit Deadwings jersey at a very cheap cost.

When I first saw it I was definitely disappointed...I think they could’ve done something cooler...this jersey is definitely towards the bottom of the retros list but I don’t think it’s the worst one...I like that it’s clean and the collar is the same color as the jersey but they could’ve made it better...not completely awful but disappointing overall

Detroit has 1 of the best logos in team sports, and their reg home/away jerseys are classic...On the other hand this reverse retro is a boring mess...They easily could've done a reverse of the jersey they wore when the NHL had it's 75th Anniversary, or a reverse of what they wore at the 2014 Winter Classic.

As a die-hard Red Wings fan, I'm incredibly disappointed with this uniform. I was hoping to see the old-school Gordie Howe era white jerseys with the red stripes, and an inverted logo, but this isn just bland, boring, unoriginal, and just plain UGLY to look at. 1/10.

Hard to defend this, it’s just nothing to get excited about. My driving force with these is the price. We’re asked as consumers to pay $200 for these jerseys, and if this is all there is... no one should fork out the money. Throw a few red stripes on it. Give me a red collar. Without details there is nothing to enjoy or critique. 1/10
