This week on ‘Has It Aged Well?’ Abbas and Urjita are discussing Anurag Kashyap’s scinitllating Devdas remake ‘Dev D’. Joining them in the studio to discuss the movie is stand-up comedian and teetotaller Chirag Panjwani. Topics discussed include: Chirag’s Chandigarh experience and how this was his first ‘break up movie’, drawing parallels between Bhansali’s Devdas and this one, Abhay Deol being an indie darling, Mahie Gill and Kalki’s striking debuts, how accurate are the Delhi brothels in this movie (we did ahem research), the memorable minor characters, the understated humour, was this the best soundtrack of the 2000’s? 6th Feb,2009 ko Dev D release hui thi and 13 feb,2009 ek fantastic movie release hui this “stoneman murders”. Stoneman murders did not get enough theaters due to wild fire that DeV D created in a weeks time. People, do watch stoneman murders. It is amazing movie.

Dev D 5 stars rating in ToI back then. It's one of those random moments that I remember clearly for no reason. I legit thought there was a printing mistake in the paper, it couldn't be 5 stars. I'd seen Rang De Basanti get 4 stars, so many great movies get 3, 2.5 stars. I was stunned.

according to me the end credits are mirrored as DevD can be considered as an actual opposite/parallel reality of Devdas when it comes to the end of movie, Dev doesn't die, chanda and Devkinda sorta get together, and Paaro is "happily" married to the guy...

Twilight Players are used similarly to the Three Witches/Weird Sisters Shakespearean trope. Vishal Bharadwaj has adapted a similar trope in his Shakespeare adaptations. Variations of such trope, which is a "witness" to the story as observers or subtle nudgers of fate are a common storytelling/cinematic trope.

I know Abbas tries to maintain this troupe of him shitting on bollywood movies and trying to be extra critical about things, that does work most of the times but It falls on its face at times as well like it did today. Did he try to question Kalki’s parents reaction being over the top? 😮 Chirag and Urjita also didn’t agree to it and it looked so childish of him to forcefully try to point finger at something just for the sake of it. 😅

The pod cast was good but, I have a complaint with HIAW team. Someone please teach Mike etiquette to hosts and guests. They do not seem to appreciate that their voice keeps drifting in & out, all the time. It's on RU-vid but the Mike still has to be near your mouth. Either the audio Mike's are F**k all or the participants and the techs are geniuses. It's absolutely annoying. Other IVM podcasts are fine. Something really wrong here. You guys certainly are loosing viewers/ listeners here.

@@abbasmomin So where did you discuss wether this movie has aged well? Just getting guests who are mad fans of the movie being discussed is not enough !! Its just senseless mind-numbing chatter!! Abbas you are the only one who tries to balance the tone of the show….. Urjita is always on her own trip and the guests are very rarely interesting in terms of their input
