At your request, and that of many other people, I updated Mario's damage system to the most current versions. The only thing that will stay the same as Super Mario Bros. is for the camera, I intend to leave it the same as Super Mario Bros. original.
In addition, I will update the warp zone so that you can only get one pipe, so that cheating does not occur. But before you get to the Warp Zone, you'll have an extra level!
In the same video I make a comparison between Super Mario Advance 4 and Super Mario Advance 5.
In the video extras:
Backgrounds that I tested to place in the castle, containing a glossy version of the same final background. I wanted to put this glossy version to resemble the SMA4, but I decided to go for something different and darker. It matched the environment.
And in "Super Mario Bros. Prototype Remix", World 3 complete! I just didn't show everything because time was very short. In world 3 there are new barrel enemies! And another surprise in 3-3 besides the different music. Can you guess what else is there?

I'm trying everything to get something close. It won't be perfect! (just to already making it clear) but it will be really cool. My only fear is Nintendo. I heard that the big N usually removes projects that are involved with one of their games, for example: levels that are the same as the original SMB1, this can cause the company to not like it. That's why Super Mario Bros. Proto Remix levels are different. As this SMA5 project is long, I will release the others first and then, even before Kiddy Kong's Showtime. If it weren't for this fear, I would already make a base for Super Mario Advance 6 - Super Mario Land 2.

There will still be some downgrades, I don't consider this the definitive version. I believe that more fan projects will appear in the future that make this possible.

Really interesting what your doing with SMA5! Idk if this was brought in the last video, but I notice the blocks in the 1-4 ceiling at 6:39 are way too close the pit. May want to move those back a bit. But other than that, I looking forward to seeking more of this one.

I checked the Super Mario All-Stars version and it's the same! I made the levels by measuring the length of each 16x16. Some things will be slightly different, but in this case it's the same.

Não foi substituído! Bowser estará intacto no jogo em todos outros mundos do Proto Remix. Ele não foi substituído por Donkey Kong. Foi quase, mas pensei melhor e mantive. A única diferença será com o verdadeiro Bowser no final. Uma nova ideia aproveitando das etapas de desenvolvimento do Super Mario Bros.

You’re not the only one to think that the title screen box could be used for a SMB3 like semisolid. I used to design mockup images back then using that same logic! Other than that, I do find the Bowser defeat animation at the end of 1-4 to be interesting! (Now you don’t have to use Fire Mario to reveal which enemy is that particular Bowser).

It's just that even though it's a different series, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe counts as the first real Super Mario Advance game. It is technically Super Mario Advance 0. In the pre-release (beta) versions of Super Mario Advance 1, the game was called "Super Mario Bros. 2 Deluxe". Also SMBDX and Super Mario Advance games were devloped by the same Nintendo R&D2.

That's right! It is a fully modified version of the Hello Engine 4 lite source. I made changes that took a lot of work! So much so that when you play, you notice a lot of difference from the way you were before. Little by little you will learn to improve.

I want to point out a mistake with player animation frames. Little Mario goes: idle sprite, inbetween sprite, then full walk sprite, then it starts over. Super Mario goes Full walk sprite, inbetween sprite, then idle sprite then it starts over. Pointing this out so you can be the most accurate

Yes! It's just a setting I need to disable. You can notice that in Super Mario Bros. Proto Remix is disabled. I just didn't deactivate it in SMA5 because I'm trying to get closer to the All-Stars version where the hull disappears just a little further forward. I'm seeing how I'm going to do this.

I still don't know. There are people who like it and people who don't like it. Originally, the damage would make Mario small, but so many people asked me to keep Mario big in the damage system that I decided to make him big.

I think for this series it would really be worth looking into setting up devkitpro with the gba build environment and seeing what you can get from that

He has not been replaced! Bowser will be intact in the game in all other Proto Remix worlds. He wasn't replaced by Donkey Kong. It was close, but I thought better of it and kept he. The only difference will be with the real Bowser at the final world. A new idea taking advantage of the development stages of Super Mario Bros.

I already posted on the community tab about the destiny of "Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels" in Super Mario Advance 5. It will be in the game as more difficult worlds, after world 8.
