Today we are chatting about one of the main skills a witch needs to know and learn: Intuition.
We will cover what intuition means, how to know if your gut feeling is always right, how intuition develops, and what ways there are to strengthen your intuition. We shall also discuss how you can learn to trust your intuition and use it in everyday life as well as in your witchcraft practice and spellwork.
This video is part 1 of a mini-series for witchcraft beginners and advanced witches, that want to broaden their practice and horizon, discussing the often used term of intuition (you might have heard of intuitive witchcraft or reading tarot intuitively before). But of course, being the skeptical witch that I am, I will also be discussing it from a scientific, psychological aspect that hopefully is valuable to the muggles or other spiritual people too :)

As a trained nurse of 30 plus years I often would get a warning regarding a patients condition without any obvious reason. I and many other nurses use our intuition all the time and are usually right. I’ve never thought about it before but I think most healers use their gut feelings alongside the scientific training.

My problem is that my ‘gut feeling’ I really indistinguishable from anxiety or silly worries. I get ‘gut feelings’ even when just going into my kitchen when it’s dark and there is never anything wrong. I find it very tricky to tell what is irrational fear and what is important. Edit: That being said, I have pretty good intuition for using herbs in witchcraft.

I have this issue as well. I try to ask myself whether my feeling coincides with my known anxiety triggers. For example, I know that I have anxiety about job interviews so if I have a feeling that I shouldn’t go to this interview…I know that’s probably anxiety. But I don’t normally have an issue with my health, so if I feel like something is more serious than it appears…I know it’s time to make a doctor appointment.

thank you for mentioning how neurodiversity and mental illness can affect things, and i'm extremely happy to hear you move on to say that stuff like that can be worked around and worked with. i haven't been into witchy content much till recently since the late 00s and those books used to be very ableist about the whole thing. you really brightened up my day with this!

That was really interesting. :) Many years ago I was out with a new boyfriend and the thought came into my head that this man was going to hurt me badly one day. I brushed it aside but unfortunately, my gut feeling was right. I'd assumed that it meant a physical hurt, which I couldn't believe, but instead it was such a bad emotional roller coaster and I got badly burnt to the extent that I had a mental breakdown and needed counselling. After that I got into the habit of writing everything in my diary completely truthfully, no matter how shame-facedly, and that had the unexpected outcome of trusting myself completely. I haven't looked back since and my intuition has always been spot on, thankfully. Interestingly, I remember reading that when Ted Bundy committed those terrible murders, there were some girls who got away and didn't get hurt. In each case they said they had a gut feeling that something was wrong and didn't get into his car. Just goes to show how important it is not to brush aside our feelings! I am so sorry to hear you went through all this heartbreak and trauma - that must have been very hard ❤️ but so glad to read that you are now keeping track off and trusting your intuition! Such an important thing to do ☺️ gut feeling really keeps you save! When I worked in a SW consulting agency in Amsterdam, this is what we always told the girls: if your intuition is telling you something is off, you leave immediately, that second.

I love how you incorporated science and logic into this! My father is a scientist and my mother a spiritualist so I grew up hearing these kinds of correlations. It really helps make sense of it for me. I love how down to earth and knowledgeable you are! I definitely have always been one to trust my gut. But can see instances in my life when past experiences have influenced that intuition.

One of my major complaints since my early teens has been receiving so much (often unrequested) advice from others that I can't hear my own mind. I've been working on making my intuition speak more loudly... and on paying closer attention to what it tells me.

In the fall of 2020, my husband was getting ready to go to mass and was going to take the kids along. I said "don't take them, y'know, b/c of the virus", my gut said something bad would happen. Not 10mins later he calls me to say he was in car accident and that leaving the kids behind was a good idea. A month ago I was getting my sons ready for school and told my oldest to take his bike, it was already sunny and warm. Ordinarily I would've driven him along with his younger brother who is in Pre-K. My gut just said "he needs to ride his bike." On the way to taking my youngest I had a head-on collision on the passenger side, right where my oldest would've been sitting. I would be watching my goddaughter later that day and had my extra carseat in the back. When my son got home he was glad I made him ride his bike to school. I always listen to my intuition. It comes with a feeling and a thought, "don't go there," "take the red one," "these things are linked." I used to have precognitive dreams most nights as well, but motherhood has changed my sleeping patterns.

That gave me chills to read - but yes sometimes we just 'know'. And so lucky you had this!! I also have two times that I remember that I just had these unexplainable knowings. Once just before I got into a car Crash (I just knew minutes before, so I did make sure to drive with looots of distance to the car before us - which saved our lives in the end - and asked my friend if I needed to stretch my legs completely when making a full break. And then another time when I stepped in the elevator in my friend's house, that I had taken like a million times, and I had this strange feeling and said 'we are gonna get stuck' and so we did not a minute later 😅). Weird how it works sometimes.

I can attest to depression dampening intuition, my thinking becomes very slow and muddled and I have a very difficult time making decisions and the smallest of tasks seem nearly insurmountable. Also anxiety makes it very difficult since I'm always afraid and can't really trust my own judgment there. Being mentally ill for me is being trapped in a prison of my own making where everything seems overwhelming and threatening and I'm just exhausted all the time no matter how much I do or do not sleep.

Terry Pratchette is why I love to read. I was never into books. My friend gave me the Colour Of Magick and I fell in love. My friends tell me that I am going to grow up to be like Nanny Ogg. The part about depression dampening your intuition was so eye-opening, together with the negative emotions. Also interesting to hear that looking at your dreams can enhance intuition - would you make a video about that? Dreaming as a witch? My dreams are all over the place. So far I couldn't stick to consistantly writing them down, because I have several dreams per night.

I have found that sometimes we have to accept that we may never know when our intuition has been correct; particularly when it comes to others. At least not straight away anyway. I found it quite frustrating when I was younger (a bit of a shadow there for me, actually). I lost count of the amount of times I had intuitively known something that was denied at the time. I now just smile as I know its our right to not acknowledge things everytime we are asked, especially if its a difficult situation. There has been quite a few times however, when the person has later come to be and said that i had hit the nail on the head and I was 100% "right".

Good morning! Oh this was perfect timing usually my intuition is very accurate guide for me but sometimes it misses too. Good example; Yesterday I was feeling as happy as the fool in the fool card, doing my Monday shopping. Walking right along looking up at sunny sky, I opened the door to the local pet store and was bitten by a dog 🐕 right in the doorway lol. A poor lady struggling with 2 dogs she couldn't control. I swear my intuition says this was a message sent by something. Loved this ❤Thank you

Great video. This has been very interesting, especially the bits how depression can affect one's intuition and how headaches can also tell you when something isn't right. I have been in situations where I knew I shouldn't been doing something and turns out I was right but didn't listen. Also for many years my eyelids have been twitching, especially when I'm stressed!

Because I sometimes struggle with depression and low self-esteem due to my upbringing (they do love their gaslighting), I used to question my intuition quite often. Because it can't be that bad, surely? It's just my fear talking. Well, my intuition was often right and it can and will be that bad. I learned to accept that. What works the best is a higher power like an angel or a boddhisattva. Their guidance was never wrong. The more you work with them, the clearer is their message.

I have a good intonation i work as a security guard and I make people phone me when choosing people for roomates so I can read them better with there voice. I have tarot cards and a pentium board. That i use often with a tigers eye I were to work to protect me.😊thank you for the video

Absolutely wonderful video on intuition. Thank you for this, Bex! As a child I was highly intuitive, naturally. I could see into people’s hearts and minds as to their motivations. This was a gift passed to me from my father and his mother - they spoke of the same thoughts and feelings. Then, as I grew up and fell in love with science (it became my career), I squelched my intuitive feelings…to my detriment. Now I am back to recognizing and honouring my intuition and Tarot has helped me a lot. The best explanation of intuition I have come across is this: Intuition is Reason in a Hurry. Which is how you described it at the beginning of your excellent video. 💕

I’m an ardent follower of your RU-vid channel because of the way you talk about witchcraft. It resonates with me. You aren’t someone who has to have all the current tools that they see. You use what you have and talk about intentions instead of tools. I have questions. Ever since I started this path I’ve been trying to go back as far as I can to understand the beginnings of witchcraft - not Wicca. Those who follow Wicca do that because it’s what they need. I want to research and discover as far back as I can the beginnings of the craft. Here are the questions I have at this time: • Before Wicca, were the terms Beltane, Ostara, Mabon, and Imbolc used? I’m trying to determine if the Wheel of the Year existed prior to Wicca. If so, was it still called that? • The first mention of witches I know of is the Witch of Endor in the Bible but was there a mention of witches before then? Were witches called something else beforehand? • In the area where you live, what is the history of witchcraft there? Do you live in the area that held Nordic beliefs? So happy you enjoy the channel ☺️ so to answer your questions: Yes, the holidays on the wheel of year are rural festivities that did and still do exist throughout Europe (the wheel of year is based on the climate and festivities here). The Wiccan names are the ones derived from Ireland and the UK. Of course they had / have other names in other languages. We also see similar old festivities at the same times of year outside Europe with similar themes. They are based on old rural traditions throughout the year, superstitions of the people, different lore and so on. They don't originally have anything to do with witchcraft - just with farm live and the cycle of life that people observed. I film a vlog for every holiday, where I talk much more about the history and different customs, if you are interested. 2. What we title 'witch' / 'witchcraft' today has nothing to do with the former term. Back in the days people believed evil spirits / witches to be the source of bad harvest, illness, etc. as they didn't know how else to explain those things. So they tried to keep them away with what we nowadays would call 'folk magick'. So what a lot of 'witchcraft' nowadays is built upon is those old folk superstitions that the regular people held. 3. Every country all over the world has a 'history of witchcraft' because that is quite literally the way people thought back then. If you are asking about paganism, my area was settled by the Celtic and Germanic tribes. But of course had big overlap with Nordic paganism too as Europe was very much in motion and connected through the centuries. Hope that helps :)

Wow. That's a lot of science and witchery in one video. I loved it. Luckily, (happily) I come from a long line of matriarchal intuitives. Many of us humans, especially, women have had that "gut feeling" knowledge beaten or suppressed out of us through the generations. It is, in my opinion, one of the reasons for so many of the worlds woes. Climate change comes to mind. Domestic violence, child abuse. Intuition isn't just about having that sort of knowledge but knowing how to react to it. I remember the first time I watched one of your videos, I instantly intuited a kinship with you. So glad I found you and your channel. You're better than a double espresso for my mind, body and spirit. Thank you for your hard work that comes across the screen as just two old friends chatting.

Hello! I always enjoy your videos. I am also a follower of science. I do believe in the mystery of life as well. I would like to grow my intuition but I’ll give an example of how I have used it. Often in college I would do my research then ask my brain to put it all together and write my paper for me then move on to something else. The brain has a wonderful way of simmering and percolating all the info. I then come back later and just trust that I will have the info available that I need. Then I would write my paper which would turn out well for me. Thanks again. ☺️

i cant remember where i heard this but its something about scripting. That you need to be very specific and descriptive to help with the manifestation or it could appear as something else. Like if you want to manifest an apple but instead of a real apple you get a picture.
