The reference to the anime got me. She basically called him to tell him that she was legal now. He slammed the phone back down so fast, I couldn’t help but laugh.
Ehhh she was more saying that because it was a recurring joke in the anime (yes I watched it all the way through) She was always more of a little sister who wanted to tag along with her big brother. She wanted to do adult things like go to bars and drink and hangout with Dante but was too young to do that. She didn't have a crush on him or anything 😑
I was more thinking that it was also a reference to how long the game took. I think Patty was like 7 in the anime? So it took 11 years for the game to come out since then.
The interesting of having V play Paganini is that Paganini was known as the “Devil’s violinist” because he was so good people thought he sold his soul to the devil. Very fitting for a DMC game
13:50 “reasons”? Mundus created her like that to trick Dante to come into the Underworld so he could either kill him or turn him into a black knight like Vergil. Nothing outlandish about that 🤔
Griffin isnt a "reference" to DMC1 he literally IS Griffin from DMC1, he even mentions in the game that back then they were all apart of Vergil's Subconscious
@@nightshade_v76 exactly what I'm saying lol. I wrote that as soon as I heard what he had to say about Griffin, but yeah the same applies to all of them. And I believe in visions of V they tried to get the spider boi
BigBadBessy Tried... nearly killed them but yeah, that was before he got nightmare, and also how he got shadow, he saved shadow from being killed by the spider demon
I noticed 2 things in DMC 5 that could be references to DMC 3, but i'm not quite sure. 1. Right before you fight Artemis as Nero, he says "Without strength, you can't protect anything. I know that". Vergil says almost the same thing to Dante in DMC 3 when he stabs him with Yamato right before taking his amulet. 2. The 1 hit Nero gets on Urizen (The one slice across the palm) is almost identical to the cut Vergil gives Dante in DMC 3 right before falling into the underworld. Anyone else notice these?
Especially the first one. I'm not too fond of remakes, but this one bears a lot of potential imo. A reimagined fight against the T-Rex, with the same fire-ball juggling mechanics but much more involved, a "prologue" as Vergil which links DMC3 and DMC1 together, more bosses, more moves, more weapons etc. The atmosphere of DMC1 is unmatched for me, and it would be cool to see Itsuno's take on it. Or even have Kamiya back for this one !
I knew Morison was from the anime, mainly because my friend told me. He said “he came as the most privileged man in the anime, then suddenly lost all his rights in the 5th game.”
13:45 the REASON is that in DMC 1 mundus created trish exacly like eva(dante's mother) to gain dante's trust and then betray him and kill dante when the time comes. but dante survives and saves trish from a boulder instead, only because she looks like his mother. then trish has a change of heart and decides to help dante against mundus.
When you're fighting for the final form of Urizen, if you get stabbed by his Spike attack it resembles Dante from the Devil May Cry anime when he got stabbed through every single limb.
Two things: For me Urizen (before investigating) sounded more like a different way to say "Your Reason" UR=YOUR Rizen=Reason, because V says your reason so much in the game I thought it was a foreshadowing, but it seems I was wrong. And second Vergil those Judgment in DMC3 when you fight him if I remember correctly unless I really don't remember that game.
You know the phrase that happears on the screen when you give up? Goes by: "... The last judgement draweth nigh." It's another reference to William Blake's sentence "Kill not the Moth nor Butterfly for the Last Judgement draweth nigh" in ‹‹Auguries of Innocence›› if I'm not mistaken.
Nico kicking the jukebox because it didn't work is a direct reference to Devil May Cry 3 where Dante is hitting the broken jukebox in the opening sequence
I'm gonna come in hella late to this video, but the reason for the strawberry sundae is due to the books with Dante as Tony Redgrave. The mercenary bar he frequents, he doesn't order alcohol, he orders strawberry sundaes. it's his staple thing from the original character.
Your pronunciation of “Mundus” and that “remake of DMC1” made me cringe in agony. And out of all the things just how did you manage to also mess up “Urizen”?
Another reference to DMC1: When fighting Shadow in DMC5, it is extremely weak to pistols and shotgun. In DMC1, you're supposed to fight shadows by using pistols or shotgun until it reveals its core. Also, Griffon seems extra weak to Kalina Ann, which may reference the fact that he's the first boss in DMC1 that you fight after getting the grenade launcher (another explosive weapon), and that it's generally a good weapon to use in that fight.
@@CasshernSinz1613 here, there's also other sources just look up "DMC gay cowboy comment" you'll find loads more. amp.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/adhrn1/what_quote_from_ninja_theory_whether_from_dmc_or/
I love how Dante even references fighting Nightmare, Griffin, and Shadow in a previous game. Near the end of the game. The Qliphoth is not just a made up name and thing in the dmc game. It has its roots (no pun intended) in the Jewish religion. It's very interesting and to those interested; just look up Qliphoth in the Zohar.
During the Dante/Vergil fight (dmc5), the cutscene where they're both charging at each other in sdt is a direct callback to dmc3's final fight, even down to the sfx. During the cutscene in the dmc3, the game only plays two sound effects in the entire slow motion sequence, one footstep from vergil, and one from dante. During the cutscene in dmc5, almost the same exact thing happens, one grunt from vergil, one from dante. The only difference being that nero stops them before they kill each other.
You know, a little girl around the character is a symbol of badass character, just like: Kenpachi Zaraki and Yachiru Sesshomaru and Rin Logan and Laura Joel and Ellie Sora and Shiro And now Dante with Patty
It's a worn out writing trope to contrast the hardcore and stoic nature of badass characters by having a happy go lucky and light hearted "little sister" type of character that the hero has to protect and deal with. The DMC anime was pretty meh in execution.
@@CasshernSinz1613 Well the anime was mostly made to just show what Dante's doing whenever Vergil isn't being an ass and some demon isn't trying to take over the world
@Zack Ruise I said what I said: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/devilmaycry/images/3/3e/DMC4SE_Vergil.png/revision/latest?cb=20150419230323 And just a fyi... dmc 3 and dmc 4 vergil is the exact same costume
Yeah and nero was the one who only got anything from the main demons. Excluding Berial. He got it from Beal, Echidna, and Credo. Since his devil bringer absorbs their power. The only devil arm he has is Yamato to which he absorbs.
Why does noone seem to get that the devil arms from 4 came from the hell gates, and not from the bosses? Agnus literaly explains that the hell gate were made using devil arms, and when dante beats the bosses the weapons come from the gates, not the bosses.
Dude I gotta give you fucking props on that miracle Johnson reference, I was literally thinking the exact same thing and then he literally pops up, perfect.
gilgamesh in dmc4 was a weapon the order of the sword used to get power from the demon portal, infact thats what all of the weapons dante gets are used for, the reason is because they didnt have enough time to finish dmc4 to add dante's bosses and missions, so they just put his levels in reverse of nero's and had him refight all the bosses.
I have an idea for the Hotel : Its in italian, the doors are kept by DMC 3 foes of sand, and they are all inspired and named from the seven capitals sins (Greed, anger, etc...). In the Divina Commedia the doors of heaven, the purgatory, is after all those circles of hell. So it could simply be a reference to the purgatory of Dante Alighieri. The way of heaven in the depts of hell, when you've faced all sins.
@@Iffem well I got the feeling that Nevan was personally picked by Sparda to guard the Temen-Ni-Gru and I don't think anyone would want to shittalk someone Sparda chose
Dante Rose taunt is a DMC4 Lucifer Devil Arm reference, both work well against their respective games most annoying lizards. In 4 against Blitz, and in 5 it's instant knockdown on Fury, very useful. The pyro bats remind me most of DMC 1 Plasma with their laser, even though they don't turn humanoid. PS.: I love the stuffed Marionette, nice find!
there are 2 more refrences to dmc in de game: 1) when you get an S rank in the mission 5 you will see a foto of V drinking a virility can 2) when you garb vergil in his DT mode his dobleganger protect him, just like in dmc devil may cry
15:11 I never played the reboot, but this one image makes me already hate it, I don't care what the reasons are for it, I don't care if the developers had a gun to their head when they were told to put it in, but Vergil should NEVER have a gun in his hand!
Phantom is referenced. Mission 11 there’s a round roof where you fight Angelos. Dante says “That’s gonna collapse” which is a reference to the 2nd fight with Phantom where you can make the roof collapse to kill him.
You forgot that Vergil using Doppelganger in his boss fight is a reference to his DmC counterpart version. Because Itsuno actually liked DmC: Devil May Cry
My favorites for DMC is ninja theory's Devil May Cry and Devil May cry 3 se I have all Devil May cry series on Xbox and I don't like Devil May cry or Devil May cry 2 and DMC 5
The reference @ 11:06 was a nod to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was the part where Finn and Ray are repairing the gas leak in the Millennium Falcon.
5:57 there's actually another DmC reference in the game that I don't see people talking about, in the 2nd mission if you look to the left of the first battle arena there's a cafe called "nephilim cafe" and there's a caption underneath the logo that says something like "let our worlds join together"
See this video it's nice, it's good, but a few things The themes aren't references, it's literally IN THE FUCKING TITLE OF THE SONG that it's a remix of the original song The summons are not "references" either, they ARE the enemies from the first game, that is literally stated in 5 Urizen isn't pronounced "er-e-zen", it's literally said like 100+ times in the game and pronounced as "yur-e-zen" or "yur-ih-zen" That is all
You're going to bring up special judgement cancels from the DMC4 special edition but not how the DmC: Devil May Cry version of Vergil is where a lot of the expanded moves Vergil got both in the DMC4 SE version and both his boss and playable version came from? That's pretty weak ngl
I noticed one during the mission where you first play as Dante (I think?) where Lady and Trish run off further into the mission. When you get to the first kind of fight where Trish is waiting if you attack the empusa before it tries to attack Trish she actually does that kind of shrug taunt from dmc4! Not sure if anyone else noticed this but I barely did!
I literally do not get the hatred for dmc2, it's no 3 but neither is 4 or even 5, and one was it's own thing. 2 is fine. Ppl just ... Go with the popular vote, weather it makes sense or not. Weird. Bit sad. Mostly weird.
Maybe you missed one but I don't think they intended it. The hat could also be a reference to the time the devs from the DMC reboot called the main franchise's Dante a "gay cowboy" when facing criticism from old DMC fans
Dude about 10 of these "references" are only blatant facts, like V quoting William Blake or an enemy "resembling" an enemy. I liked the rest of the video but you could've made it a little shorter
El chiaro mondo. Chiaro is the italian term for clear or even something that has light colors and is pronounced like "key-aro", it has the c sound of cat. Il chiaro mondo dei beati... you can read it like the first part of bell, so it would be like "behatee"
I like the reference to DmC reboot where in his banter with vergil dante will say "Not in a million years" a line from reboot dante that stuck with fans.
