He did a good job w the current situation ,got rid of toff who is slow and aging no point of giving him term , got rid of Vitek and got a decent back up for next year

Yeah, right wasnt like Toffoli was our top goalscorer.. all good though. Especially that Colin Miller moove for nobodys awsome.. talk about Goaltenidng.. great choosing 2 goalies with horrible stats. Eric Haula is decent, Segenthaler is horrible, Bahl is decent, Smith is horrible, Palat is horrible, Nate Bastian is literally atrocious!!! What am I missing here?!?!? Luke Huges is bad too!! Stop riding the hype train! His defense is worse the Hamiltons!

@@the_unkowngod_2328not sure what kind of return you were expecting, no one got a 1st for a single player at the deadline; only henrique and carrick with 50% retained got a 1st from edm. The team played better without toffoli

Bahl is not even close to a "shut-down defenseman". Everyone talks about the goaltending situation but the Devils are severely lacking a true, hardnose, physical defender.

I have a strong gut feeling that you’ll be landing Marky in the off season and trust me, as a flames fan it really stings to say it…but as a fan who’s watched every game this season im telling ya guys you should be absolutely stoked if you do land him because I honestly think he’d be top 3 goalie if the team didn’t hang him out to dry with a considerable amount of games this year including the ones we won lol, Shit he was a vezna finalist in the last couple years… And for what it’s worth, the devils are my 2nd go too and I have family in Newark and love NJ… Anyways, cheers🍻

Markstrom is going to be traded to someone, regardless. Dustin Wolf is the goalie of the future for the Flames, and he will no longer be waiver-exempt next year. So they will have to make room for him. They're probably waiting for the summer because they're still in contention for the playoffs, and they know they could get a better haul for him with more teams in the mix.

@@pomerlain8924 💯 and the only crappy thing for the devils is that there’ll probably be a half dozen teams trying to pry him off the flames…but knowing Conroy, he’s a man with integrity and even if the return goes up a little he’ll give the devils the best chance of landing him…

Lifelong Devils fans here. Much more pleased with Fitzy than I am with so many of the other fans in all of the groups I am in, whining about everything. 😂

Usually positive, but here's my gripe. Goaltending performance has been a known issue since November. Fitz ultimately settled on bargain bin options for the remainder of the season. That's fine. However, I think some fans are justified in being upset (myself included) that something this cheap (Kahkonen/Allen) couldn't have been acquired earlier than deadline day - you know, while NJD still had an ACTUAL chance at making the playoffs. I know the acquisition costs for the big fish is a real barrier that ultimately needs to be revisited in the summer, but both can be true.

Last season NJ had veteran defenceman. This season, NJ started children who weren't ready. Also, the goaltending absolutely blows. Tom Fitzgerald BLEW the entire season. He needs to be fired

Fitz was worst GM in the league this year. I said the Sharangovich trade was awful when everyone else was thrilled about it. I didn’t understand with our style of play, why we would send out a penalty killing, fast skater, sniper in our preferred age range for a slow, streaky, non defensive winger with 1 year and wrong side of 30… BONEHEAD move and I’m so upset that I was right. Sharangovich is going to be a great player in this league for a long time and be on very good deals. He’s the perfect Swiss Army Knife player. Once that move was made, it was the beginning of the end. In November it was obvious we needed a new goalie and a new coach. Somehow it took until March…?!?!? What the f*** was Fitz doing all season?!?!?

He didn't have a good year, just like the team. Injuries were a huge problem but, bottom line, Ruff ended up in a rough position (no pun intended) with 20-year-old d-men backed by 22-year-old goalies. They also lack size and, frankly, they lack a mean streak - too many nice guys on this team, which isn't a bad thing unless they're also on the smaller side. Fitz has some work to do.

The Flames weren't trading him unless it was for big haul. And they're still in the playoff race. Trading him would mean they're giving up on the season. And the Flames have more of a shot at making the playoffs than the Devils.

Can't force a team to make a trade and giving away grade A assets who will be on controllable deals for the next 5 years or so isnt a smart move for 2 years of a goalie

Allen had a no trade clause to certain teams and Devils were one of them, he didn't waive it until today. This team is only going to get better when the younger guys get more experience, the new era of Devils Hockey is not far off.

Who else fetched a 1st at the deadline aside from henrique and carrick together with 50% retained? Tarasenko got a 3rd and a 4th, the return is low at face value but fair in the market this year. Gotta get something vs lose him for nothing in 2 months. He also got rid of vanaceks contract and got a bettet goalie, kahkonen in return, not sure how thats terrible
