Wonderful interview. Devin seemed so relaxed, and you asked questions that got unique answers from him. Very insightful stuff, loved it!

I don't know much of Devin's music (I only own Synchestra) but holy cow I can listen to him speak all day. His proficiency in expressing himself makes me want to dive head first into his music. He's no rock 'n roll dummy!

I have seen a lot of interviews with Devin and they all confirm one thing, the man is genius on so many levels, just focus on the way he constructs his sentences when answering.

Devin is doing what a lot of metal bands don't do and thus loses a lot of fans. He evolves and it's a scientific approach to making an awesome sound

Got to meet him at a meet and greet show around this time last year. Such a cool and funny dude. I ask him if he liked trailer Park boys and he was like I fucking love trailer Park boys. Then he went into talking about how he used to live right down the road from the trailer park they filmed it in. Great guy hope to meet him again in the future.

What a genuine and hip dude. He is as modest and genuine as Aekerfeldt imo.

It is his differences that make him so interesting. As a metal fan of several decades, I love that he says and does things that are so much the antithesis of metal. It makes it more interesting to me than the standard pissing contest bravado we see in metal today.

I really appreciate the intelligence and maturity of this interview. The interviewer (Sam) is close to my age and I think it makes a big difference, as opposed to these kids doing interviews. Much more informative, and well done. Kudos.

Devin deserves to be called avant garde metal I think. Even though it's fairly accessible, there's no way to define it. It may not be as free of musical standards as some more crazy bands, but his music is definitely experimental in the way that there's no tag for it. Make a Lock Horns episode for Avant-metal. Put Devin and Strapping Young Lad in it, put Gorguts in it, John Zorn perhaps, and Meshuggah, because before Meshuggah got copied many times, there was no way to define them.

'Transcendence' Is my favorite album from any artist in about a decade. I fall asleep to it every night! Devin is and amazing songwriter / composer. Great interview!!!

Well, he did "make me happy" and laugh like a madman with his spiteful crowd interactions in SYL. I mean who starts a show with "You can suck it" and "You're all gay", calling people ugly pieces of shit and all ha ha. So... he changes yet it always fits who he is, no doubt, but weird that he seems to have forgotten about that. I certainly respect his creative spirits and skills, hell, he INTIMIDATES me because he's so damn good. Yet I still prefer his heavier side such as with SYL. It's normal that a constantly changing artist like him will have some fans prefer period X or Y.

I just watched the interview with Charismatic Voice and got some really surprising deep dive answers about singing, THEN Coffee with Ola, and it was so fun to watch them geek out over guitars. Now this one!

It is 2020. There is a pandemic going on. I am 34 years old. And only now, at this point, I was made aware, by a 4 year old video about a musician, that Vancouver is in the west, not east of Canada. I am humbled by this experience and shall avoid act or feel like I am big connoiseur of things.
