This works for the DW708, showing how to replace the armature bearing when your saw is LOUD! I think it might work for the DW718, DWS779, and DWS780 as well. Here is the link to the parts - www.amazon.com...
*Remember that this saw needs to have adjustments made to make 0 or 90 cuts accurately **MyBest.Tools** I had to use a right angle on the deck and blade and then adjust the bolt to get the correct reading. Once this is done, it works great.*
Thanks for posting this. I had contacted the Dewalt store and they told me that the DW708 was no longer supported or serviceable because of obsolete parts. I followed your parts link and was able to put my 20 year old saw back into service.
I had no idea this was the problem! I have the same saw and it has sounded this way for 2 years. Thank you sooo much!!!! The video was top notch for letting me see exactly what you were doing. I wish more videos would show this much detail also. Well Done!!!
My saw sounds exactly like yours did, thanks to you I now know exactly how to fix it. My saw was purchased in 2005 so its an oldie, but I love that saw. Thank you for posting this very well put together video.
It's a better saw, can also cut wider boards. I also prefer the vertical slide rails vs the horizontal when it comes to doing set depth cut notches/ lap cuts, there's less flex which keeps the depth cuts more accurate! It's a bit heavier than the newer ones but i love it@@claytonkeates2614
once you had the bearing splitter secured under the outer race of the bearing you could have used a simple two legged puller with bolts into the threaded holes on the splitter to pull the bearing off without risking damage to the fan or the windings behind it.
Cheers mate! I watched your vid and fixed my Dewalt 708-lx, hardest part of job for me was the spring clip on the spindle/shaft that was proper tricky. I used a bearing puller kit off Amazon(£25($30?)) similar to the one you used to move fan down, but it had the puller part on top so bearing came off no probs. Great video thanks again for posting 👍
Thanks for this! I have same old saw with same problem. Great to see how someone else fixed it. Need to find bearings to replace them. I have some helpful videos too.
Well I thought it was going to be MUCH easier when I started it, didn't know I was going to have to run out and rent any tools... I do have a few things in the garage that are torn down that have been that way for quite some time! my problem is mostly time/motivation though.
Thanks for this video, this is exactly what I need to do for my saw. Now I have the parts ordered (my bearing blew apart and the shrapnel cut up the belt) and I have a friend that has the tools I need to do the job. I liked the trick for the brushes and I've been using this saw since new and never knew about the blade lock button...... Ok take away my man pass
For anyone doing this in the future, Dewalt may say the parts are obsolete, but the bearings are a standard size. The numbers are stamped on the one I have, which is a DW708, type 3. I think all DW708 use the same bearings but I'm not 100% sure. The smaller bearing on the rear of the armature is a 6001Z. The larger bearing shown in this video is a 6302. I notice the bearing says 6302L, I don't know exactly what the L stands for, but it does look like it is a double sealed bearing.
Well it's not that terrible in real time but does look really irritating when sped up. AIso just didn't know where I wanted to mount the dang thing yet at the time.
maddmatt02 but it's not really a DIY channel or anything it's just where I put videos of my RC truck, ATV, kids, etc... I mostly use it to upload things to share with family but over the years have put a few up about cars or reviews...
