Take apart a DW708 Sliding Compound Miter saw to fix a Bevel Center Stop that was not engaging.
When you remove the Bevel Adjustment Lock handle you cannot pull the top assembly from the table as there is a push on retainer ring which is out of reach. Removing the drive pin allows the removal.
Removes the sliding rail assembly with the motor and other parts above the deck.
Taking this apart would be used for:
Table Replacement
Access to the Bevel ping

Second time visiting. This time I needed to find out why my bevel stops allow me to swing clockwise from 90° to 45°, but not counterclockwise. Your detailed explanation super helpful. It’s been a while since I needed to do anything other than simple miter cut; today I needed to make right and left compound cuts for some hip and valley rafters. The saw was in my brother’s possession for a while and I’d forgotten what the black handle in the back, above the locking handle, was for. Interestingly, at least on of my stops is working well - I can always bring the blade up to full vertical. Now with your information I can lube it properly. By the way, your answer to my previous question was spot on. Thank you.

Can you tell me about your dust collection setup?

You cannot collect dust off this design. I basically have a box built around it and I use the overhead for storage. My brother has this design and he has an narrower box behind his to reduce dust. The dual rail overhead models are great. The dust shoots right up the center making easier to capture. I do have a vacuum attachment in the back of the box to incent airflow direction.

Thanks! Very informative. This is the same saw I have. Haven’t had your problem. But my detents on the table no longer engage. I can’t quite tell what’s broken or missing. Any idea? Also, the table seems very stiff to turn. Where should I lube? Finally, I’ll be replacing the kerf plates. Have you ever done that?

Dedents are engaged by the handle pushing the bar which pushes a plate with a bend in it into the dedent. The pressure on the plate from a spring in front of the plate is held in place by a slip on clip. Pushing the handle compresses the spring which engages the plate. Could also be the handle lock if the spring looks functional. If your clip has rusted or broken the spring would be sliding loosely when not engaged and maybe even when engaged. Just did my kerf plates. Had a broken one that kept pinching me. Lube you’re screws now to make removal later easier. The ones in the back required adjusting the saw to gain access to them. There is a center bolt just under the saw blade usually encased in dust. I would lubricate that first.

Great video but I really can't believe that you didn't blow off all the sawdust before disassembling the unit. Sawdust in the grease is a bad combination.
