Watch a repair of a Dewalt Double Bevel Miter Saw (Model DW706) to tighten the loose play in the table and replace a worn kerf plate. After years of use and abuse, my saw needed a little TLC! These repairs are easy to do and parts are generally available from third party distributors.

I am grateful for RU-vidrs such as yourself that deliver usable content. My wear plate actually broke after only six months. it was under warranty, but it was easier just to spend 20 bucks on a new Ware plate and do it myself.

My brand new dws716 has the same wobble in the base, it's only a couple weeks old. I may try tightening that nut in the center, I can't imagine the wear plate is worn after 2 weeks

That's disappointing to hear. I must say, I have had many problems with the quality of new tools and materials in the last few years, especially since the pandemic. I'm afraid this may be the new normal.

Wish you could do one on Hitachi. Mine takes a lot of strength to turn and can hear the degree down in there but it doesn't come apart as easily as this unless it's rusted together which I don't see any but is a pain to get the top off.

Hi there, on my one I cannot get the housing off more than 4mm. I pull and it just won't budge further, any ideas? I made a video. I'll post it under Dewalt armature housing won't budge,.Any ideas?

Little tough to see in your video, but you should remove the screws completely and make sure the belt on the other side is removed. Then wiggle the housing free.

There are several websites which sell parts for tools and most of them have diagrams as well. I can't say what's wrong with your particular saw from a distance, but you may find some ideas by looking at these diagrams.

I broke that pin that keeps the upper saw head locked down for transporting it. I cant seem to see how to replace it other than knocking out that big pin that holds the upper part of the saw together with the lower saw. The big pivot pin seems to be in there pretty darn good, or is there another way ?

The sliding pin is "captured" in the hole by some mechanism. It may be a one-time assembly. Look online to see if you can even buy the pin, and that may be a clue. Or, just do what I do, which is to loop a bungee cord through the handle and hook both ends on the saw base. It's stronger anyway.

@@enduringcharm I did order the sliding pin already. I watched another video and there is 2 set screws that hold that big pin in place, they are keeping that big pin from being knocked out, so I did end up knocking that big pin out and removing the big spring in order to remove that small pin. Wasn't that big of a job knowing how its done now lol

Interesting--I didn't see the set screw, but both my saws were covered in sawdust so it might be under all that. I'd still recommend the bungee cord, though. That's how I keep my saw in the trailer from opening up in transport and it doesn't rely on the pin.
