was playing d2 4 years ago too. still playing every once in a while. I miss this Blizzard so much. Starcraft brood war and RTS warcraft were awesome games too.
you know you play too much diablo II when it snows and you go to take out the trash, then this song plays in your head. Seems like an enigma, too bad I couldn't just teleport to the dump so I didin't have to feel the feels of nostalgia. lol
Fantastic example of a good game standing on the shoulders of great ideas without the focus group research bullshit, no marketing stunts, no ripping off the players to create more revenue - the game created revenue by being well done! This is how you define sustainability. Even after 17 years people still play it, should tell you everything.
Can't edit this message apparently... just wanted to add I've also been playing Diablo 1 for an insane amount of time for the last years. There's a mod called the Hell 2 which adds a crazy amount of new content; new classes, spells, perks and synergies, item types (even slots for gloves, boots and belt), enemies, et cetera, without it feeling out of place or clunky. A true testament of dedication by the creator; and a constant work of progress. if I understand correctly he's working on a new version (The hell 3) as we speak... I can't wait to see what will be added still. Highly recommend it to anyone who played the old game. Probably not for the casual player though as it can be a bit daunting - once you know all the ins and outs there are many advantages for the player that will counter the much higher difficulty compared to the base game, but it does require an investment on the players side. It's definitely worth it once it 'clicks'
"So sad, yet so glorious" is what this song portrays to me. It's like, I can feel everyone's spirit and determination crushed as Baal's army advances, and yet, there's still a small glimmer of hope as long as we keep fighting.
I hope D4 can come a lot closer to the soul that D2 used to have. So far, the footage seems to indicate it's more or less going on the right way, but there's still a lot to improve.
@@dragishawk9564 Agree!!! Sounds like the "Secret of the Steel" scene... Just say "You cannot trust in anyone Conan... man, women or beast... in this, you can trust" while you hear it jejejeej
+Tim Tomczyk hahahaha me too, trying to kill monsters, to get coins, and find some "cool" rare weapon to buy for my zealot whose zeal attack used to last 5 seconds hahaha
at 1:13 when the violins kick in.. man i just get goosebumps. so much nostalgia.. so beautiful.. so painful.. it's everything. Kudos to you old Blizzard
''Our bravest, strongest heroes hobble back to me begging for help. I do what I can -- healing and bandaging some, preparing the others for what lies ahead'' The quality of this quote combined with this music in the background can send shivers down your spine.
"Oh yes... I remember our warriors as children. Malah would set their broken bones and give them powders for their fevers. Now, they return to her with wounds that will _never_ heal. I am tired... Please... leave me."
Simply fantastic....never gets old....i played D2 when its came out...still playing it today. Every little part of this game is flawless....especially the music. Long live Matt Uelmen.
We are the spirits of the Nephalem, the Ancient Ones. We have been chosen to guard sacred Mount Arreat, wherein the Worldstone rests. Few are worthy to stand in its presence. Fewer still can comprehend its true purpose. Before you enter, you must defeat us.
777Skeptic really?? :D one of my friends told me that necro is the only one character who can finish the game on hell literally without items (summoner necro ofc)
Épico, me acuerdo cuando lo jugaba online con mis amigos y eramos muy malos (todavía no jugabamos pvp con buenos items y builds...) Y en ese momento decíamos, WOW, tan lejos llegamos? y sonaba esta hermosa musica
Music makes me sad, i remeber years ago being a young teenager and this was my weeknights and weekends for years. so many friends, all but forgotten, the music brings back so many good memories, dont think ill feel like that about a game again , d2 was tops
I use to get on and sit in Harrogath just to listen this music. I knew of no other way to listen to this song. I spent so much time just sitting in town and at my computer listening to this song.
"The oath of compassion I have taken as a healer extends only to humankind. Cut them down, warrior. All of them!" - Malah the voice acting was so good just reading the words now still gives me goosebumps
ahhhhhhhh to be young again, and be able to experience the first generation of fantastic video gaming, truly appreciating it. we didn't know how good we had it back then
This music is AMAZING, it illustrates so perfectly what was happening in the game, in Harrogath even though graphics were so limited back then, such a masterpiece.
My prefered track from Matt Uelmen and also Diablo series. It made Harrogath so homy and beautiful. After fought bravely in hells and defeated Diablo, this city became the most awesome place for the hero relax a bit. I miss this epic game... :(
The way i look back on D2 when i listen to this song is like every aspect of my life, i enjoyed myself when it happend, and i enjoy looking back on the memories. Just like being a kid, you wish you could still do these things but you know they have come and gone =) . But wow what memories D2 has left. Any one else do like 100 Meph runs in a night and then die to lag ? LoL
Been playing this game for close to 20 years now. One of the nicest memories I have had with this game and now I have to take parts with it. Thank you, Diablo 1&2 makers. So long and thanks for all the fond memories.
suddenly my life flashes before my eyes, back when i was 9 years old playing this game....oh my goodness....i think im about to shed tears.... *sigh* :')
Diablo 3 is a good and fun game but Diablo 2 is a masterpiece. I played the shit out of it when i was a kid, when i was a teen and nowdays as an adult i'm still not tired of it, One of my Top 3 favorite games of all time.
Do any of you guys think the new D4 will be at least half as good as D2? I personally liked the aesthetics shown so far, but we'll see what happens to the game as the years pass.
So many wonderful memories of holding the fresh bought Diablo 2 Collector's Edition in my hands when I was a kid, not knowing I will be addicted to it for the rest of my life. One of the masterpieces ever created.
@Lelekv In addition to agreeing with you, that last part made this comment gold. The Diablo LoD soundtrack is sprinkled quite liberally with quotes from actual classical music, such as Gustav Holst and Edward Elgar.
The best track from the best video game ever made. This song stands alone as a masterpiece all its own. I still get chills from 4:22 - 4:46 every single time.
been playing this again pretty hard. Its still just as fun 20 years later. Timeless masterpiece. The atmosphere - music/graphics are amazing. Its so well done.
This music is a part of the game - that game is a part of my youth. Nostalgic video - reminds me the childhood free from cares... The feeling will not be the same again.
i cant stop watching this, all the pictures bring back a thousand memories, i remeber play this from word go, when umes lamet and rare drops meant something. Its such a shame these games get forgotten by blizzard . Maybe im just getting to old now =o
Surely I'm not the only one who used to sit in town just to listen to the music on this game. This song was by far my favorite, though. I used to go kill the Ancients and then just sit there looking over the edge of the Arreat Summit while this song played. I don't know if there will ever be another game made that I will love as much as I loved this one. It is a true masterpiece. Diablo 3 has a LOT to live up to.
I share the same memories that most people did from playing this game. I woke up at 7:00 am and played till 8:00 pm when I was a kid back then carefree on a saturday free to level up haha. (The legit way no baal runs back then and only half of the population had the Expansion) but the game still exists for people who wanna play again. You can still feel the same feeling you had back then. (rare) I pulled an allnight like a year ago even tho i've grown lol. First all nighter ever. GL.
Beautiful fantasy music that evokes a venerable civilization in its autumn days.... majestic but somber music that invites you to imagine a world where people have seen too much struggled for too long. That's the kind of layered fantasy feeling I get from this wonderful, well orchestrated piece.
God this was so epic. Being a barbarian and finally getting in to the expansion and returning to your homeland with this music in the background, ready to take some names.
This is so epic... it's very close to a spiritual experience. One of the greatest things ever to have happened in my childhood, if not the greatest. Incredible memories, filled with nobility and grace.
