I've noticed that if you make everything have cool down reduction it makes this build faster

Rhykker, you said that the wave of force element depends on the rune you choose for archon but if I recall correctly, it depends on the highest elemental dmg % on your gear. Great guide as always, thanks.

quick food for thought for people stuck with the firebirds set: The season start for me was pretty average at best, felt very lackluster due to our starter set this season. At some point i thought about just using all the random ancients i found instead of the set and using the trusted meteor shower/etched sigil/desintegrate build until i get my Vyrs going. The season buff definitely helps out with this mediocre starting set - ditch it and see the results yourself.

You mentioned about choosing slow time for the archon to trigger the cold-based attacks. I thought I was wrong, but I noticed that the bracers' elemental damage buff determines the type of archon damage.

Playing this build now in 2.6.8. First time I have leveled a Wizard, and this build with the items is a machine, and a lot of fun.

Just saw this and need to Correct something: You do NOT want ANY Area damage on your Gear, The WoD is a Procc and Area Damage too, in Diablo Proccs dont Procc other Proccs so the WoD will NOT Apply Area DMG

I use gogok of swiftness instead of pain enhancer. That extra dodge has saved my ass many times.

Looks like it changed to squirts necklace / convention of elements combo this season (at least what I'm seeing on Xbox) I just broken GR 100 with the travelers/compass though so it still works pretty decently. Thanks for the inspiration to make a Wizard this season, it's been fun!

I was using this build but it works fine until you reach GR 107 or something like that, then you need to change a bit for a more defensive build, with Storm armor/shocking aspect, familiar/sparkflint and using Halo of Karini, and Ashnaggar as bracer. The passive Galvanizing ward and Unbreakable will are good choises too. Also Gogok is a lot better than Esoteric or Pain Enhancer since Gogok can help you with the CDR and the atk speed and doesn't matter if you're fighting a lot of monsters or the Guardian, the speed is the same.

Usually the build uses the armor bracers and a gogok instead of a pain enhancer

If I may make a suggestion, swap out Pain Enhancer for Gogok of Swiftness. Pain Enhancer hard-caps at level 25 since it is only really there for the level 25 ability. The bleed damage doesn't amount to much, and no mater how much you buff the damage by leveling the gem, it never really compares to the damage you're dealing with Archon and the destructive waves. With Gogok, you get a solid, consistent 15% attack speed buff in all situations, whether you're facing mobs or a single target, but you ALSO get a survivability boost from it's additional dodge chance that can easily be brought up to almost 20% at level 80, plus the level 25 bonus giving 15% cooldown reduction makes getting back into Archon even easier. The attack speed buff works triple-time by letting you gain Chantodo stacks faster, which lets you go into Archon sooner, which allows the Archon stacks from the previous transformation to overlap for longer, which means more higher damage and more kills, and the attack speed buffs Chantodo waves. Plus, faster attack speed versus bosses also translates into upkeeping "Deflection" stacks more efficiently. Pros: -Consistent, all-situation attack speed buff -Higher attack speed buff during single-target encounters -About 20% dodge chance at all times -15% more cooldown reduction -No positioning (e.g. "within X yards") requirements Cons: -Overall lower attack speed buff during mob encounters Also, what about swapping Furnace in the cube for Orb of Infinite Depth, and swapping Black Hole for Explosion - Chain Reaction? Less situational. Black Hole requires large mobs to get a decent buff, but OoID gives a fairly solid 40% damage buff and 80% defense buff, and all you have to do is hit any enemy, which keeps it consistent between mobs and bosses. Plus, it has generally higher damage buffing since grabbing 14 enemies in a Black Hole isn't as common as one would think, and it gives another defense buff that Black Hole lacks. Black Hole lasts almost twice as long, but is far less consistently useful AND doesn't give a defense buff. The damage lost from the cubed Furnace doesn't make any difference because most rift bosses are solo fights, meaning that Furnace + 1 BH stack = 53% damage buff, which is only very slightly lower than OoID's 40% damage buff and the latter also provides 80% defense on top of that, AND Chain Reaction counts toward resource-spending attacks to cooldown Archon and add Chantodo stacks faster. PLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSS, it deals fire damage, so boom, throw cold damage on your weapon and that's all four elements for Elemental Exposure.

I got power leveled yesterday, finished this build in a very basic form, roughly 5hrs game time later, instantly facerolled a gr 70... this build is disgusting, I’m going to have fun pushing with it.

The gems, and legendary gem you have in the builder don't match the video. In the builder you have swiftness, and no mention of it in the video.

@Rhykker the link to the reference for the build in the description seems to be out of date and is different to the image you are using in the video, would you mind sharing the more up to date version? Thanks for the awesome content.

this build is insane, if you got enough CDR and get the hang of timing archon right, you never dip below 300mil thoughness, peaking at around 4-5billion toughness, and dmg peaking around 3mil.

Using this build right now and it's amazing, easily hit 90+ grifts A few things I changed around personally

Could you stop using a old video and just update the title? Even when the newer builds have different items ?

5 years ago me doing 100k-ish damage be like Wow! that's a lot. Now with billions dmg spam and mobs still stand like nothing happen ,WTF?!

I am at best an average player but I have played a host of different ARPGs since the original Diablo game came out. I just came back playing D3 playing Season 20 which I've been playing on and off since its release. I used this build since I got the first four pieces and basically stuck to the boilerplate recommendations including many good roll upgrades. Currently at GR82, although I will go higher. I've also done the T13

The build reference guide and the build you discuss in this video has slight variations.... for Season 18 should we go off the video or the build in the link?

Tried playing this build based off the video guide on switch version and got wrecked.

It would be helpful to recommend an alternative to the convention of elements for all the builds. I've noticed you usually include a COE and many of us choose not to use it.

MESSERSCHMIDT'S Reaver , is what I use on my cube weapon slot. When I come out of archon I can go instantly back into archon. (Reduce cool down by 1 second when an enemy is killed)

When I first tried the Vyr Set without Chantodo's, I was actually expecting it to be amazing right out the box. I mean the bonuses all sound amazing! But when I tested it I was like, "This is the worst set!". Then, I noticed the Chantodo's Wand set bonus and was amazed how much of a difference it makes. Problem is, it feels like the Chantodo's might as well just be a part of the whole damn set! By itself, it doesn't do enough damage. It actually feels pretty pitiful. Then, I dropped some new gear into building a Meteor build and found its far more consistent (maybe faster in some cases) since you don't need to rely on getting those annoying 20 stacks outside of Archon mode - which can be scary. I just wish they would stop adding 'sets' to cover the fact that they just don't know how to truly allow for build diversity. Everything they introduce just has to be some ridiculous multiplier to make a skill viable and then? It just feels like you're playing with another set piece - even if its using legendaries over set pieces. Just the way I see it, though. The meteors are impressive and much easier to build and use CoE/SoJ for big dmg boost to elites.

How come the linked planner build doesn't match what you review in the video?

I just finished up getting my gears for the Vyr set. (Chantodo was a pain to get...). I'm still missing some of the items you mention, especially rings, and mostly the freaking sockets (I have the right item but no socket.). But I am excited to try it out now that I've match most of what you mention. THANKS!

Advice for getting the furnace? Have been trying via Kadala and upgrading rates via the cube for 2 weeks....nothing!

How do you deal with resource usage? I tend to run out of Arcane power before Archon can come back and before I can build 20 stacks

The S18 updated build uses Strongarm Bracers. How does the build benefit from them? Am I missing something? Also, why Slow Time over Teleport? Also, how exactly does the build benefit from Elemental Exposure? As far as I can understand, you get 1 stack from the obvious Cold damage, and you can have a weapon with Fire damage for another stack. I can see no Arcane damage, and the periodic Lightning strike from the Storm Armor affects only 1 enemy, so it seems it's not worth it. IcyVeins uses Unraveling Will instead. Please enlighten me.

Mr. Rhykker, Thanks for all of the videos. Learning the game has been very helpful thanks to your videos and the videos of many others. I'm noticing that after I leave Archon and I have my stacks, my Arcane Torrent drains my Arcane Power EXTREMELY quickly. Have you noticed this? Is it a bug? It only drains very fast after I get my stacks. Once their gone, it's slow again. It makes it really difficult to get your Chantodo stacks back between Archon cooldowns.

I think you give the best overall videos for D3. Very informative, and you break down the specifics of items, skills and tips for certain builds. Keep up the good work rhykker!

Hey Rhykker, great video but i gotta ask why have OROZ in the Cube and COE in your main slot when COE has a 150-200% increase and OROZ doesn't make any difference? You also get CDR and attack speed from OROZ, so why not? other than that, great video, loved it!

I'm a bit confused you said that to maintain the elemental exposure you need fire on your weapon but when you showed the gear the weapon was cold, as well as the bracers. So does that mean we will not get the extra 5% from a fire resource?

Is you have to choose between a slot. Or cdr so you can put your legendary gems on what's more important? And the ring if zodiac. Say you disintegration and it hits 10 enemies. Is that 10 seconds off cooldown?

Would the combustion effect of archon contribute to the fire portion of the elemental exposure passive? Or does that only effect the mobs that are in range when archon is activation. i tried cubing the grand vizier and used meteors and worked pretty well

Optional (as I did so): Swap Vyr's Sightless Skull helmet with Crown of the Primus wizard hat and equip Ring of Royal Grandeur so you can have the Slow Time skill gain the effect of every rune. ❤️

Why are the bracers in the video different than the one in the build guide? Also, why dont you mention the 3rd archon ability? (the one that lets you do a small explosion around you)

First big fan of your builds. I have a question: in this video you say use the compass rose and traveler's pledge but in your D3 planner you say use squirts necklace and the halo of karini...could you explain which is the correct one please??

It becomes real squishy with CoE though. Very hard compared to storm armor build. demands some proper fishing. Im up to 113 so far on storm armor version and I get absolutely shredded with CoE version. Pain Enhancer is worthless compared to Gogok.

I have been playing for many years, just built this wizard build and with paragon 1470. While people complete Grifts from 110-120's I can't even do Grift 100. Also my Impale DH can't even do Grift 110...I'm on the verge of quiting a game I really like.

Hi Rhykker thanks for yours vids Wizard+Chantodo weapon build season 17 is more powerful than the last season. Black hole rune is it necessary?

Doing this set on season 21, but I'm having an issue with archon uptime. What skill am I supposed to be using to proc the orz? Every skill seems to have a cooldown. For now I am subbing in ray of frost and that seems to do it ok, but otherwise I have almost 30-40 seconds of downtime and that of course drops the archon stacks.

Why are you presenting a very unpopular version of the build instead of the one pretty much everyone is running currently (with ashnagarr's) Also worth mentioning is that in most cases Gogok of Swiftness is far superior to Pain Enhancer in solo. Haven't seen anyone run PE outside meta 4-man groups. Also unwavering will is better than elemental exposure in most cases.

I agree that this is the best build for the season. Perhaps another build that pays respect to the theme of this season? LON Meteor or something ? Thanks.

It's so stupid that they nerfed the captain america sader last minute. I had a blast on the PTR and now it feels A LOT weaker.

Hey i have another question, how do i suvive with energie armor? i sill manged to beat 123 rift with kitari ring but now i need concection of elements ring for more damage. there is no way ever i suvive big pulls even with strengh gems and blur together. i just die like a fly even with much archon stacks. thx for answers

Hey Rhykker! I put the cold rune (slow time) on archon but the waves from chandoto still come out red like fire I'm not sure if it's just visual shit and the waves are actually cold can u tell me if that happens to you too? I can send you a video if u want.

Mage has tons of cool skills. Ray of frost, hydras... Yet blizzard buffs a build thats about floating and releasing magic farts... This is why I cant enjoy this game. All meta builds are like that.

Hey Ryker, is there a ring that would be worth swapping convention of elements for? Im one of the few people who dont follow the rotation of the elements so to me its almost a waste of a ring slot. I know you had said just have it on "Auto Pilot" but is there anything that would be a good swap without taking a huge hit in damage?

How is this build being impacted by the nerf?

Im so thrown off man lol. Why does your reference build look so different from your video build. I collected all the reference stuff. Then came to rewatch the video to see how to play the build and noticed the gyms and items dont match up. Which should I go after? The video build or the refence build? Thanks for the videos btw.

After checking Leaderboard, first uses Gogok instead of Pain Enhancer :) Probably he misses some cooldown. (don't have in the weapon) he has lightning skill on amulet and fire skill on bracer (but only 19% on purpose I think)

Can you do guide's for bazooka wiz and thorns necro after you've had your well deserved break? I feel like those builds have a lack of guide's on youtube

Do you have any good references or do a review builds for consoles? You can match a lot but I know a lot of the builds are not posible on console.
