What made me go with the Diablo Sport Trinity T2 over the intune i3, bullydog & HP Tuner? In this I explain why the Trinity T2 was the best fit for what I want to do.
100% agree with you. The more I thought about it the more I was like this is kind of a no brainer. Every shop I called their 1st choice was Diablo to work with, which opens the door for me to pick/choose which kind of direction I want to go in.
The Trinity T2 is a solid choice, great explanation of how you arrived there!! I do believe this will aid in developing interesting and relevant content.
I agree - I think it would be interesting to see what the Diablo info is saying in comparison to the performance pages. Hopefully some of this content clears up some info about performance page accuracy I've received in the past.
Just got one for my 2014 Silverado 5.3L EcoTec. Great tuner, my original one messed up though, got stuck on the Logo Screen so I contacted Diablo and they shipped me a new one via UPS 2 Day Air no charge. Their Tech Support is amazing, they’re on top of everything and very helpful. Other than that I haven’t had any problems.
Yah it just seems like if you want custom tunes the Diablo brand is going to give you the most flexibility. Plus it does look like the best product quality wise on the market.
Man I cannot wait to see how things go with the unlocked pcm. I'm probably gonna go the same route myself with my challenger. Keep up the informative videos man I look forward to them.
Excellent vid man. I really like how you broke down the defferences with the tuners. I also like how you explain your decision process when deciding which tuner to go with. Great stuff man. Looking forward to seeing how much it wakes up your 5.7🤔
I try providing as much info as possible to help everyone with their mods. Hopefully some of this stuff helps & it's always nice to hear what someones intentions are because I might like a product for one reason & another person my not like it for that very reason. I got it to unlock the Hemi & it seems to be the best looking option along with most universal for further tuning. Some might just want the best tune out of the box tune which I can't confirm this has. We will see how it plays out though, should be interesting. More info/testing coming soon! Thanks man I appreciate the continued support
I think this is probably the best route for anyone looking into these tuners. At least from what I've learned they seem to be the most popular & most tuners can use them easily.
Yeah... The looks and feel of the t2 are so much better than the original Trinity as well as what I've seen from the other tuners.... It was a good time to be looking for a tuner for sure!
You made a very wise choice. Kudos for exploring all options, but there’s a reason Diablo is almost universally used and suggested. Enjoy the tune when it happens. I had great results using Sean aka Hemifever. Great guy all around.
I always like seeing what options are out there - then making a choice. You're right though there is a reason everyone goes with a diablo. We will see though on the tune, looking into a few options - Hemifever is certainly one of them.
Once you get your unlocked PCM, I would highly recommend getting a Jay Green Racing PCM and TCM tune. I have his tune installed on my wife's 2015 RT wow what a difference blows the can tunes out of the water. I heard good thing about Hemifever but found so many videos showing that Green Racing had the superior tune. I ran 4.7 0-60 go up a slight incline 1st try with no issue. I think her car could easily hit 4.5 to 4.6 seconds. Best of luck with your ride modding is very addictive, also Green Racing customer service is second to none
That is who I will likely end up going with. Thank you for the feedback, it def confirms the overwhelming amount of positive reviews about his tune. You're getting me pumped man! With my current setup & headers on the way, a greene tune will bring the RT to another level of awesome.
Might just be the shops around me. Jay Green & Hemifever both prefer Diablo so that's what I'm going with. hey man congrats on that pedal commander! Dude 1st drive put it in sport+ x4 & just have some fun! Find some open road
R/T Life yeah might be and I think they are really comfortable with Diablo! I bet you are going to love it! Thanks man! Ok I am definitely going to do some videos on it and I will give that a shot!
Thank you I appreciate it - I will be providing plenty of feeback on what to expect from this device & the out of the box tune soon. So far so good though.
Awesome man. It makes perfect sense going with the T2. Excited to see what you can get out of your car with the tuner. I'll live vicariously through you because I don't think I got the Gahones (sp?) to do it. Haha.
hahahah you're funny man - Well I'm certainly happy to be the one that tests this stuff out & you can pick/choose what you think will work for you. It's about having fun - thanks man I appreciate the continued support!
It will be very interesting to see the difference between the performance pages and the t2. I like diablo programmers, I had a predator for my Lightning and loved it. Im sure u will be more than happy with it!
Thanks man - yah I'm def looking forward to messing around this this T2. I think it will help provide some interesting content long with answering some questions. Should be interesting none the less.
Thanks for outlining the differences and I think you made the right choice because of your content creation requirements. Just curious - where are you thinking of mounting that display? I use an extra/old phone sometimes for DashCommand/Torque and I've found that it rests nicely in the open storage bin beneath the uconnect console (where the cig lighter/12v port is). It makes it look like a continuation of the dash, especially at night. Only negative is that it may restrict use of that 12v port, so you have to use the one in the center arm rest.
I will likely mount the cup on the left hand side of the driver, on the front glass likely. Very close to where you see people with turbos mount their pillar guages. We will see for sure at some point hopefully this week.
Same here! I really want to compare the scat PCM vs diablo out of the box tune. several months ago that was a big choice for me. Going to be interesting if my research was accurate. If my research is accurate it should be almost the exact same in performance
Did you ever do any before and after videos yet? I can see where the gauges and monitoring could be a great benefit, but no one has come out and said if this unit makes much of a difference at the drag strip. Not looking to make a 9 second runner out of my truck, just looking to see if there is any measurable benefits (not from the tuner itself) gained. Thanks
Love the channel but try a seatbelt over your shoulder and lap, it’s not that bad and it will make your sound judgement look better. Just waiting for this video to end like an after school special. ;)
Thanks man I appreciate the support & concern. I buckle up but throw that strap behind me because it's super annoying, probably not the smartest move on my part ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jYEyFD4WvFI.html
Hey, no worries and not trying to be downer boy, just came to mind when I recently smacked my 300 head on into a concrete barrier going about 70-80mph during a downpour. never thought it would happen to me since never been in an accident. No brain damage that I can think of yet. :-| Had belt on though. Keep up the good work.
Not to rain on the parade, but the Scat Pack 1 may be similar to the 91 canned tune horsepower wise. Best thing about the Trinity is the ability to monitor and adjust the tune instead of a PCM upgrade.
That's what I'm thinking as well. It would basically confirm my research but we will see how it plays out. T2 should make for some interesting content though - it's a solid product
Thanks for all the content, man!! Im looking to buy a tuner cant decide if should swap pcms. Big price difference! Im still under warranty only 15k miles. Cant decide of should swap or buy seperate pcm? Thx
Great video with good info. Wondering if you would know, I own a 2020 Rt , with the upgrade of an unlocked Diablo sport pcm and an i3 can the MDS 4 cyl mode be turned off so the car runs with 8 cylinders always in normal mode?
Hey man I'm in desperate need of advice here..... I was going to do heads, cam, and Gutted Cats, and Tune on my R/T. But here's a Curve Ball. I have a FACTORY Unlimited Miles, Unlimited Year Powertrain Warranty from the Factory. I didn't know my car had it, but it does. And they don't offer it anymore, so if It voids it's gone forever. Of course if I tune it, that voids the warranty. But What would You do? Would you Send it, and Mod on? Or would you stay Warranty Friendly? And my Third question, If I went with Diablo, and restored Stock Tune before going in for Warranty work, would they know it's been tuned? Bc I just don't want to mess up this warranty, if keeping it is worth it.
that's a big decision. I chose to mod because I wanted to have some fun. You have to look at your $$$ situation & make that decision. Is it worth the fun? If yes, time to mod. Yes you can always restore a tune back to factory - but they will know you have been messing with the car. Depends on the dealer if they want to have a blind eye to it or not.
@@RTLife You're right. Im going to ask my car club what the dealerships are like in this area as far dealing with lightly modded cars to get an idea of who is cool and who isn't
@@RTLife I saw this message, but I been injured and under drugs 🤦🏾♂️ forgot to reply back lol. But that's very true! I'm going to go ahead and make the purchase but what has me hung up NOW, is reviews....... HAVE YOU HAD ANY ISSUES? Freezing? Gauges Not working? Error messages and shit? Any of that? People has been going mad on Diablo because of the bugs and issues. Have you experienced any? Because if Im going to spend 600 bucks that bitch need to work! If not I'll get the I3 Lol
When PCM is swapped it creates a “P1400-AFTERMARKET CALIBRATION DETECTED/WARRANTY COVERAGE CONFIRMATION REQUIRED”. When dealer installs Scat Pack PCM a code is attached to your VIN which confirms warranty coverage. Now we can swap PCMs and tune at will. Just reinstall Scat PCM 1 for warranty work or just show receipt from install. I doubt they would know the difference since the same P1400 diagnostic code is sent 😎
Hey RT got a quick question for you I just put JBA catless mid pipes On my 2012 charger RT and I have Defouler On but still throwing a check engine light ordered another set should be here this week hopefully those will work but if they don’t would the Diablo tuner just buying it out of the box shut that light off for me permanently thank you
So I’m on the ropes about buying a tuner. When it comes to the trinity t2, if you get one without CMR does that mean you’re stuck? If you get one with CMR does it still work the same but with more custom ability within the tunes? Like say I add bigger fuel injectors, if I have a trinity t2 without CMR, would that effect it?
Well there you go. I have received many questions on the accuracy of the performance pages, but if the Diablo is using the same signal they would both be feeding me the same info.
PCM/ECU both the same - just the engine computer. Diablo refers to it as PCM so I just stuck with it. This is what I got www.diablosport.com/shop/trinity-2-pcm-swap-dodge-chrysler-car-2015-v8-platinum.html
Instead of sitting on the seatbelt why dont you just disable the annoying chime? Key off buckle seat belt, push button twice to run, wait until seat belt light goes off, unbuckle and rebuckle atleast 3 times(within 30 seconds) ending with it buckled, push button to turn off you should hear 1 single chime, the end. To turn it back on is the same sequence.
Do you still like the T2? I'm needing a tuner because I'm getting a cam kit and was wandering if you think the t2 is good? I can buy one new for $420. Thanks
The i2 is def a great product but if you're into monitoring the performance I think the T2 is the clear choice. Do you use a out of the box tune? If so what do you think?
R/T Life I'm currently running the canned Diablo Tune which is the 93 octane tune and I have the Corsa cold air intake. There is a noticeable difference between the tune and stock. Canned tunes are good for minimum mods like exhaust and cold air intakes. Custom tunes are best when mods like headers are installed
I'm wanting to get the T2 for my 2003 dodge ram 2500 with the 5.7 hemi. I have 35" and 4.56 gears ratio so I'd like to adjust my transmission shifting and correct the speedometer. Plus the extra power would be nice as I already use 91 octane fuel because it's ethanol free and I see the results in gas mileage. But I'm really hoping for the gauges.. I hate having dummy gauges that just say if your oil pressure is good or bad. I want numbers and I want to see my trans temp when I haul stuff, as well as oil temp if possible. I'm really hoping the T2 has all these features. I've seen some bad reviews saying there is a bit of false advertising with it saying it can do something and then finding out it can't. I'm on the fence still.
That Hemi will very much enjoy getting a tune - the 93 Diablo tune will have that thing screaming. You should get a custom tune - that is really what you want. An emailed Jay Greene or Hemifever tune
Gee, I guess you don't realize that all gas has ethanol in it unless it states... Non - Ethanol. In Florida I buy Non - Ethanol gas for my HEMI pickup truck. 89,91,93 all have about 10 percent Ethanol in the gas.
@@skylersmall6322 I stand corrected, I guess you have to dig deeper on Internet. Here in Florida it's just called non ethanol. The landscapers love it too because it is what should be used in small engines too. The government is always screwing with us and it always costs us more money. I want my beef cows fed corn and I want 100 percent oil used to make my gas. I should have asked how the tuner worked out ,as I want one for my 2012.
Nope. You just take the unlocked pcm and put under the hood. Then plug the tuner into the obd2 port to begin loading up the tunes. I will def do a video to make it clearer.
They give you an unlocked PCM that you apply a tune to using the hand held. The only issue you will run into maybe at your dealer if you try claiming warranty work.
No diablo is not better HPtuners for gasoline vehicles is best has way more settings & parimeters then any hand held if you dont know what to do with hptuners id suggest you have a professional tune your vehicle for you
The main reason there are tuners that prefer Diablo at this point is because you as an end consumer can't check there tuning. They can tell you anything and you will never know it to be true or not. HP tuners offer a whole other level of tunability including trans tuning. These statements are from experience.
How much did this all cost? I'm in the market for a tuner on a 2016 Dodge Charger rt. I know it's more pricy having to get the unlocked pcm so I'm assuming it's around $1000+. I've heard good things about hptuners that lot of known shops use that but I'm new to tuning so diablo would probably a good starter tuner.
The package I got was $699 - it included the handheld & a PCM swap. I had 2 PCM's so I didn't mind the swap. If you want to hang onto your stock PCM then there is a couple of packages that include the handheld & unlocked PCM, both are a shade under $1000
R/T Life Oh okay yah it gets kinda pricey if you want to keep the locked pcm because I want to maintain my warranty. It might have been little more expensive because I was looking on hemifevertuning.com for a tune. And they have a zf8 transmission tune as well
In order to get the Hemi fever you need to get the diablo 1st - Sean needs your PCM to be unlocked so he can send you a custom tune to load up. if you're going to get a custom tune anyway there is a diablo itune2 that is $899 with an unlocked PCM. It's def expensive getting into tuning but well worth it for the HP
R/T Life I think they have updated their website because they now have a Diablo Trinity t2 with a custom stage one tuning package now through hemifever which is $1099 which is pretty cool
If you're planning on getting a custom emailed or dyno tune it doesn't really matter. They're both devices that load tunes onto the PCM/ECU of the car. if you're looking for just canned tunes the Trinty would likely be better because it's newer & likely has more up to day tune files for better performance.
R/T Life ohhh so basically the only thing different is the screen and device itself for the trinity ? I’d still be getting almost the same performance tunes
No - usually you get the tune after a hard upgrade like headers. That being said I really want to compare my current setup with a out of the box diablo tune. This way if someone asks I can tell them if the scat pack stage 1 is close or not.
I've been very weary of going back to diablo. The trinity 1 I had actually caught fire while making an update to my custom tune. Freaked the hell out of me, Support was useless from them too. The device was slow and clunky. This new one looks much better, My fear is just ending up in the same shit situation lol. But one question I have is can we finally use Mac's for the software???? Or do I need to fire up my PC just to do a simple job ??
I would be a little sketched about using the product again, I have really nothing bad to say though. It has done a good job so far for me. Nope you need a PC. I tried on both of my Macs.
