We found an old Caprice wagon and diagnosed some problems to get it back on the road. After getting it running, we head to the hills of Kentucky for the Pineville Hill Climb, a grassroots racing event that adds some local flair.

Some of my best childhood memories are family trips in our 1980 Caprice station wagon. Parents upfront, sisters in the middle, and I sat in the rear facing seat. Of course, “air-conditioning” was provided by a trucker fan mdad had mounted on the passenger side C pillar.

Rock Auto are a great supplier…….we love them here in the UK…get parts quicker from the US cheaper and faster than in the UK….love the fridge magnets too!!

I can’t stress enough how much I love rock auto !! From my 2013 pilot to my 1991 civic si I can find pretty much everything I need. And for the things I need asap i still support my local parts stores

We had an 80s vintage Caprice Estate wagon. Took my HS sweetheart to prom in it. The 350 finally gave out at about 160,000 miles.

These wagons are amazing! Gave my folks a 1987 Pontiac Parisienne Safari wagon. We're going to replace the Olds 307 with an Olds 455. A little more grunt to pull the 21' trailer. Was thinking about a Duramax. Also thought about awd. Can fit huge tores without tubbing. Lots of realestate under the hood for powerplants. Can carry a washer and dryer in the back. Or take 7 of your buddies if you have your rear facing seat!

Live 20 minutes away and never know when this is coming to town. There isn’t enough advertisement or the locals would make this the biggest event of the year

21 seconds in, and I see myself in my little BMW 2002! It was so awesome meeting you guys at the hillclimb, and hanging out having a great time! You need to come to Norton, VA in a couple weeks, and bring a car with you to race this time! 😉😁 Thank you so much for attending, and providing coverage of our little grassroots family of hillclimbers, not only the drivers, & their crew, but all of the amazing volunteers that make events like this possible! That’s a fail for the glass inline fuel filter. You guys need to use something else if you don’t want the vehicle to catch fire.

Plastic isn't much better if you want a filter you can see though. Heat and chemical resistance isn't there with plastic. I'd use the see through filter if I didn't change the tank for a while just to see how bad the system is. People bring up crashes and that's a valid point. Although with a horrible crash it might not matter either way if you think about it. Someone brought up it being less dangerous with a mechanical fuel pump vs electric but it really might not matter. A little bit of gas can set a lot of stuff on fire in an engine bay...

I had one and used the wagon to do food deliveries and take ppl to their jobs, in the 90s, and made very good money, but i fixed the carb to run only with 2 barrels, that way saved lots of gas plus living in a small village in Wisconsin the max speed is 35 mp hr, and the cops love to hand over tickets little too much so all that power wasn't needed,

@@bmstylee good to know you side with places that are into generating sales and profit instead of helping people in getting vehicle going at a doable cost. Some...some of the brick and mortar are in debt and high overhead that they rather gouge you than help you. I know now that every student in high school should take automotive courses to learn about a vehicle so as not to get gouged. Buyer beware!

@@FranciscoJimenez-bb7fk right........ because Internet based businesses aren't putting profit at the top of the list. God your naive. Brick and mortar and web based pay the same amount for product. But web based have lower overhead generally but charge the same as b&m. So who's gouging who now.

The problem with rock auto is the customer service. I had a part lost getting to me, and it took over a month to fix the issue. It was a 2014 explorer pre pandemic

I'd watch you guys build this car but make it a low buck everyday driver/cruise-in/Cars and Coffee car. Clean up the interior, "paintjob rebuild" the engine, throw a cheap paint job on it with some Vinyl Pinstripes/80's style decals, Paint the original steel wheels either Black or Body color, throw a set of decent Baby Moons on it and show people that you can have a cool classic car for not much money that you can still have some fun with the family with on the weekend and get the kids interested in cars.

I gotta say rockauto is my go to unless I need it now. Did a full brake and suspension bushing job plus some egr/ignition work on my Mercury Sable a while back. My car is a weird mix between the premium and base models and they had it down on what I needed exactly. 2 years or so later I have no complaints other than my own choice on brake pads. I went with ceramics because I live in the mountains and I wanted something more heat resistant for long, heavy and frequent braking applications. But man they're dusty lol. I clean my front wheels more often than the rest of my car 😂

Ceramic pads do not create dust or if they do they create very little dust. I always use Akebono brake pads. Best ceramic pads in my opinion.

I use the local parts stores. Sorry, old school like the GM car in this Rock Auto ad. I don't like taking parts back to the local auto stores, much less repacking and taking a Rock Auto part back to the FedEx or UPS stores to send back.
