You are the only one on the whole RU-vid to make a proper video (with sound example) to identify that exact sound and frequency. (not with wheels speed, but faster) with the drive shaft at very low speed then disappears.
Just got done changing my brakes on my 2019 Chevy Colorado, drive around the block..still squeaking. Straight to RU-vid and found this video. Thank you sir.
Thank you. Ive been trying to figure this squeek out for a year. Now it all makes sense. Only squeeks when moving, coincided with wheel speed, worse in reverse. Time to change my u joints
Man I was already thinking I needed a whole new drive line or leaf springs for my 1995 Chevy K1500 but hopefully this is it. Same exact squeak. Subscribed
Thank you, you helped me locate the squeaking sounds from the rear of my escalade the shop want to change the drive shaft, but hey it's just the U- joints
Good info. I have a 2009 gmc shortbox with both squeeks happening. Going to replace front and rear u joints and grease the leafs in april when i take it out of winter storage. Lol i am in sudbury ontario canada 🇨🇦.. winter sucks here with the amount of salt used up here. And will destroy your vehicles.
So, I basically have the same squeaky sound, it also follows the wheels speed, so it speeds up as I move faster, and no sound when it is stationary. But I have a sentra 2004 (so no 4x4) so, do you have an idea of what I should check? It shouldn’t be the belt since there isn’t any noise when stationary, right? any ideas? Great video btw!
Jack it up and spin each wheel individually, see if you can isolate which corner it is, most obvious would be brakes but if a wheel bearing is going out they’ll sometimes squeal also. Don’t forget to check the CV shaft, very uncommon to squeak but I’ve seen it happen.
New sub ty will this noise also mainly happen in reverse it going very slow in forward I have a 2010 Silverado I already have the u joints I'm praying that's the issue
@@Ashsmash822 I haven’t changed out my U joints. The squeaking happens mostly now in forward at low speeds. I imagine that the grease is just kind of getting stuck and then releasing into the joint. definitely need to be replaced. I am just nursing it as I don’t drive very much miles to and fro in my truck. But definitely plan on replacing the joints, just hopefully before one snaps off.
Can be a seized cup, but while it can cause a harmonic vibration it’s usually one that’s starting to come apart and is off center. Check u-joints first but if you have a carrier bearing make sure it’s not loose, bad joints can knock out the rubber in the carrier.
If it’s a rapid, repetitive high-pitched squeak that only happens while moving very slowly then I would take one end of the driveshaft loose and check the U joints for stiffness.
@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 its a skoda fabia 1.4 16v. I don't think it has u joints. I installed a new drive shaft 2 years ago the bolts come loose and lost abit grease not much tho I torqued up them properly and with locktite do you think it lost more grease as the passenger side inner drive shaft is hot but ok to touch but the driver side is so hot can't keep my hand on it
@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 yes, I understand this fundamentally but there is value in an baseline estimate so that I understand if the shop I call is being fair.
