Thank you for taking the time for this head-to-head! Those nail set slots have always had me on the fence. We've always offered a proper bit index for $20 and hope to have that added to the website soon. That goes for a lot of the options we've had since the beginning. And we can do pretty much anything here at our custom shop.Thanks again!

Thought about it with all the customizations, but I just wanted solid all arounders for what I gave out for Christmas. I'll be playing around with little custom things on them as time goes... Thanks for chiming in, for real.

I have been using the Badger Carpenter setup, the Carpenter setup has more lower bags which is better then the setup you got. I also tried the Diamondback, I very much prefer the Badgers, they are slightly shorter in height, the hammer holster works better for grippier hammer handles, and the bags are better suited to my setup, which for me is much better. I lost over 20lbs recently, which is awesome, but now the Badger belt I got is too large, because of this I have been running my Diamondback belt with Badger bags, and while I Very much prefer the Badge bags, the point where the belt and the padding are attached together is much better on the Diamondback. The pad cannot try to roll up from the bottom out from under the belt on theirs. If it still fit I would get a loop and a metal clip sewn to the pad in the same way as Diamondbacks. I know several people that have Diamondbacks that work on the same crew as Badger bag guys and that is their main complaint about Badgers. Did you ever consider it that way, it is far superior?

I got the diamondback a while back, same kit with eagle/miter. The fact that they lay flat is why i wanted them. I can sneak through studs and rafters swiftly. It took a while to break it in, but im happy with it. My old belt was like rigidly bubbled out and id get caught on everything.

Right on dude. I like the level of "tech" that the dB pouches have. Started making my own pouches and belts lately. There's a few videos up on the prototypes I've come up with if interested. I find myself teetering on a bit to open. Still needs some tweaks, but I'm getting there. Thanks for dropping a comment. Maybe I'll see you around again.

Thanks for the vid! I've been running occidental leather bags for over 10 years now. The weight is starting to really mess with my comfort so I've been contemplating the switch to nylon bags. Obviously it's either badger or diamondback. Being a framer I'm thinking of going with the side by side carpenter set from badger. Ive recently seen some questionable quality control vids on diamondback. You're a good dude to hook up your guys with fresh setups! I work in a crew of 3 with the boss. He buys coffee though
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Right on. It's just a good idea to keep in mind that the side by side has nothing on the outside other than the 2 fastener pouches. Each dude would have gotten the s×s set, but I prioritized tools over fasteners... there is going to be give and take with all that. Badger will sew in a bit index on a fastener pouch for 20 bucks.... diamondback does make good pouches and offers a good amount of options. Badgers padded belt literally can't be beat by any other nylon companies belt...

Great video. I have a that diamondback setup and after watching this will probably buy the Badger SXS bag. I think the Diamondback pouches are too thin and I don't have big hands but I'm grabbing for screws all day long as a concrete form setter.

Good setups. Since I'm a lefty for quite a bit of tools(mostly finish carpentry), and my heavier fastener days are nothing like a drywall guy or something, it's all good. If I was in and out of the bottom of my bags all day, I don't think it would be too comfy on the knuckles. Once everyone i got sets of Badgers for got used to the tool sides(more so sleeves rather than little pockets), they all really like them. I'm glad you got something out of it. Thanks for the view and the comment. I started making my own pouches recently. Got a few vids up on it all if interested in checking them out.

Interesting discussion on bags. I have an Oxydental Leather set up and looking for a lighter option. I like the open bottom on the badger tool bag and the lips are more open for easier access.

Great review...how do the belts compare. I tried one of the diamondback belts and wasn't fond of the cobra buckle but didn't give it much time. I run occi's adjust to fit and custom mcrose sets. Both have traditional buckle
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Did a belt vid about the same time as this one. Same cobra buckle, but other then that, pretty different. Most notably, Badgers foam is much stiffer and thicker. Construction all around is more robust. I always do better with a click style belt. Always too skinny for the older style belts. To each their own. Thanks for dropping a comment.

On the badgers do you have any issues with the hammer sliding out the sleeve? Im thinking of getting badgers because i already have holes on the outside pockets of my grrandes.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Everybody that I got them for has rubber handled hammers, so no. I could see there being a possible issue if you have a wood handle.

What do you think about Atlas46 tool pouches? Thx.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy 9 месяцев назад
I'm certainly not hating on them or anything. I like how they are more open at the bottom. Never used any of their pouches. Was ultimately turned off by the price point. I knew i was never going to be interested in opening the bottom of my pouches to dump them out, so why bother buy into it... You definitely pay a premium for the modular design of their setups. There is probably 2× the amount of sewing in a belt setup, then any other company even close to the price range. I have, and use their hammer sleeve. It's definitely VERY sturdy. The attachment style is a bit bulky for my taste.

Had the DB Artisan(Miter and Eagle). Pouches too small. Bit index a great idea but poorly designed. I have the Badger trim set and it’s got a better design and the quality is better in my opinion. Plus it’s way more comfortable
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
You're not going to beat the padded belt that Badger has... Their products really are about as bulletproof as nylon can get. Bought my son's all badger setups, and after seeing them breaking in up close, I went ahead and ordered a padded belt for myself. You are 100% on point, in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully, you have subscribed.

@@clovisprojectdiy yeah the Badger suspenders are awesome as well. I wish I had known about Badger before investing in DB. Fortunately I was able to sell most of it. I too really liked the idea of the bit index on the Mitre but found it lacking

@Tom Forward miter on the left, wrangle on the right for me. Chopped off the hammer loop up top, and the miter pouch is working beautifully for me. Tape stays on the right, so tape pocket is open for screws and whatnot on the left.... thanks for the comments, dude. For real.

I tried the Artisan set as well and could not get used to them. The tool storage is nice, but it is very difficult to get into pouches. Also I found them to not be very comfortable. I went back to my occi's 7 bag green nylon.

@kalebmakley1133 11 месяцев назад
Can you fit a full size speed square in the miter pouch?
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy 11 месяцев назад
Yeah, you can. There are 3 tight partition pockets on the back "wall," then a full width pocket(typical spot for dB to allow a speed square), then 3 tight pockets in front of the panel. Might be pretty crowded if you want a bunch of tools on that side as well...
@kalebmakley1133
@kalebmakley1133 11 месяцев назад
@@clovisprojectdiy does the speed square ever get caught up in those smaller pockets? Seems like there’s a lot going on there
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy 11 месяцев назад
@kalebmakley1133 for me specifically, being left handed for a pencil, I use my square and tape on the right. I chose the miter for the left because I'm a bit more heavy handed for tools on the left. Basically I need 2 strong side pouches. Why I went with the whole build your own thing that diamondback can offer. There's a guy on RU-vid who's handed the same way I am, and uses the miter for the side he runs the square on. Amayerican is his channel name if you want a better point of reference. To answer your question as best I can... I'm sure it gets a bit crowded.

I run a Fiskers price, actually🤣. I was referring to when it's empty, there is still metal there. There have been times when I'm leaning in, or picking things up where I have found that the bolts are rubbing or close to rubbing on things. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate your time.
