And if you could see the foam in our belt, you'd see a big difference in it as well. We use a microcelllular foam that just won't break down. Got my carpenter set Badger toolbelt about a year ago because at 32 years old I already couldn't deal with suspenders anymore after only 2 years being a carpenter (finished every shift with red, sore and itchy shoulders) and not a work day goes by where I regret it.

Went with this because I bought my sons each and a kid that's working with me daily full setups. I've been able to get really up close and personal with them as they're all breaking in. The way they wrap around the buckle away from your body as apposed to turning in is awesome. No fancy edging. No need for it. These guys have a REALLY good thing going on with the padded belt itself. Awesome video! Everything you talked about Ive experienced with the Martinez belt, all that money and it was a disappointment. I went back to my diamond back but am currently considering badger.
Really stinks that happened with you as well. I had some pretty high hopes for it... If you go with Badger, they have 2 color ways that are typically in-stock, but anything custom color you obviously will need to wait a few weeks for. That chrome keeper on the Martinez belt was seriously kicking my ass....
I just this year got the occidental fat lip bag and I keep seeing this badger belt. Kinda bummed I didn’t get the badger honestly. But I’m in it almost 500 with the extra pouches and the suspenders so I’m stuck with it lol.

Atlas46 makes cool stuff, but the price gouging is absolutely insane, their carpenter tool belt is like $700+ absolutely insane, when you could get a fully loaded oxy, badger, diamondback, or akribis set for half that money, I buy anything American made that I can, boots, jeans, whatever. And I feel like they probably use that as an excuse for their pricing oh it’s American made, well so is everyone of those brands listed above except akribis is made in Canada, solid review, going with the badger trimmer. Since uploading this video, I started making my own pouches(was planning on it at the time which is why I had the yellow material), and after really taking a look at various companies products I have come to some realizations if you will. You already obviously understand that you're paying for labor for the most part with any of the mentioned belt/pouch companies. One thing that is pretty apparent with atlas compared to all others mentioned is that they lean very heavy toward doing things the most complicated ways possible. With the modular design, each item needs to be a finished piece. Velcro attachments(up to 3 a pouch), the ability to dump the bottom of pouches(more cutting, more velcro, more time, more labor), webbing to attach more to said pouch, and the layering of pieces to achieve a little stripe of red, so on and so forth. SUPER complicated.... with that said, sadly the belt was uncomfortable after breaking it in, which is why it got a bad review. If diamondback ever decides to put a dump flap on a bag(which I'm pretty confident they won't), I'm sure it will cost more than a pouch where everything simply gets sewn down to a point. Would certainly be nice to see atlas come out with more simple designs and cut the fluff. If interested, like I stated, I'm making pouches now. I bought a Diamond Back tool belt 2 years ago.Because I chose a wrong size (I am from Spain and it was hard and expensive to return it) I decided to buy a Badger belt.Now I wear a Badger belt with the DB pouches,but how I wish to have bought a whole Badger tool belt because despite DB quality is amazing,Badger´s is even better.
25 yrs plus in carpenter trades , have same scars from pinch points , glad I didn't buy Martinez belt . Great job on review outstanding content My old husky web belt is better than that garbage ,crinkle cut

I bought into the Atlas46 Saratoga vest system years ago. I used it for a few months and haven't touched it since. I thought the vest would be nice for getting some tools off my hips but I found that anything I moved onto my torso just restricted my movement and crowded me. The vest is pretty stiff and uncomfortable too. The bags are pretty nice and I still use one on my climbing harness (I build treehouses and cliffhouses), but otherwise it was a waste of money. I've learned that any company that advertises that much has their focus in the wrong place. They are all about selling an image. Good products speak for themselves. Martinez seems even more ridiculous charging hundreds of dollars for hammers and speed squares. I can't believe people buy into that nonsense. An aluminum speed square weighs nothing; how much better can a titanium one be? And who the hell wants a hammer with a detachable head? Its purpose is to beat things, it shouldn't have separable parts.
I don't have the Saratoga, but I can say I agree with you on your opinions here. I'll use a vest at times(diamondback), but it needs to be some pretty cold conditions, as I will only set it up for if I'm wearing a whole heck of a lot up top. Your line of work sounds fun, by the way!

very informal video, honestly this belt looks completely half ass in comparison to a badger, or a Diamon Back ToolBelt. The fact that they did not use a real cobra buckle. scream to me, that they are cutting corners
Started making my own toolbelts recently, and yeah it's pretty bad. The foam inside is less then a 5 pound foam. The lighter weight foams are gonsidered "craft" grade. The more I learn about material and products the more damning it all gets with this specific belt... literally put out a video yesterday of my first padded belt build... Ps, I will have to disagree with you about buckle choice. The Cobra is certainly not the only suitable thing for a higher end product. (While typing this I remembered that the buckle was actually sized for 1 3/4 webbing and they still used it on 2 inch webbing, so yeah your on it...🤣) The big issue is with the keeper getting loose to easily. But yeah, you're looking at a real flop of a product that should get revamped big time.

I wouldn’t pay 100 for either one. Maybe $65 for belts and $60 per pouch at MOST. People are crazy but hey. If you don’t care about the details and you want to just fork out money do it.
I hear you on the price point to an extent. You CAN go to a big box store(home depot or where ever) and get something comfortable and durable... I have on the other hand started building things like this myself, and I get it now. Everybody needs to make a living. Cost of living is high for a craftsmen in America... As a craftsman you do need to make sure it's "worth" buying though. People pay 100's on a saw expecting it to last years if not decades. Same for this type of thing. Yea, you just need to play and tweak with it to find your comfort zone. Also the right positioning for it. I also had the same problem about the bottom part of the padding rolling over on the hips but I just rolled them right back to natural position like twice on a 10 hour day.
I simply prefer no suspenders. Probably due to my size. 30-31 inch waist, standing at 5'6" and 145 on a fat month. Things are simply NEVER sized to fit the smaller guys... I used to wear suspenders when I was framing in my 20's, and was almost pushed off a roof one time when a guy was handing up a sheet. Corner got right under a strap when I was grabbing for it. I get the heeby jeebys... I'm currently designing a line of toolbelts, because of issues I want to work out with all that if interested in checking out some of my newer vids. To each his own... Buckle is sewn in - stuck with placement outside of padded area. Pinch points at the heavy hit sewn in the area right at the front of the right hip. 1/4 inch pad - only as thick as husky belts. Belt webbing is somewhat flimsy and soft. Good keepers, pad is actually sewn into the edging, and all the cool guys have it, so why not... I did a video comparing dB and badger if interested(belt and suspenders). @Mark Strickland right on. There's good and "bad" with everything. I would like to see badger tighten up the belt loops and actually run the velcro all the way around. Wasn't meant to offend if I did...

Absolutely ZERO issues with Martinez stuff, used the Badger garbage for 4 weeks and it literally fell apart. Stitching was so low grade it frayed in spots after 3 days. Badger is so trashy, their gear was like putting a 2x6 on my back, painful within a few hours. On top of the seriously low quality materials Badger uses, trying to adjust ANYTHING On the belt with gloves on was beyond pointless. Will NEVER buy Badger trash again!!!!!!
I wouldn’t consider badger low grade since he’s the one that sold diamond back and started his own company just to get bought out by the most durable tool belts, occidental leather. Maybe you had a bad experience but I had a positive experience. However I only got the belt. Still use diamond back pouches so I cannot speak on the pouches.
