Another very thoughtful review which I appreciate very much. We take so much pride in our belts. And that is too much space on the belt loop. You're right. I don't think most have that much slack. It should be a tighter fit. Happy to put a few stitches down on that if you'd like to send it in. And we do put d-rings on all suspenders now. We've put them on custom sets when requested. But they add them at Occidental now. We don't edge anything! I feel the same way about that type of construction. It takes longer to sew and flip to conceal the stitch line. But it makes for a better product. Again, thank you for the honest and thoughtful review! It's a pleasure to listen to a review by someone with experience in sewing and materials as well.
I am NOT AN EXPERT by any means with sewing! I will be working toward something here, though. Starting with some smaller pouches for flooring and painting... We'll see where it winds up. I'm going to shamelessly pin all of your comments, by the way. Thanks for stopping by. Much appreciated.
Dude..brother: I would like to say five stars on the clarity in conciseness of your review style. I enjoy watching a review on a product that I am very much so trying to gain ground towards a decision and I can walk away from that review without any questions. I also like how you made it a point to make sure the viewer understands that you find the diamond back to be a professional quality product in light of the excellence of Badgers. Thank you for taking the time to put the effort in because it allowed me to come away having made a decision.
Thank you for this video brother, I own a set of the Diamondback belt/bags and suspenders and am going to custom order some Badgers, and a lot of your opinions on the Diamondbacks match my own. Super happy to see that Joel watches customer reviews!
100%. I have a Diamondback rig I've been running since 2017 that's at home now. Started bringing my old Occidental rig to work when i started a new job since the DB pouches were too small. My back has been killing me since i put the leather belt back on and i pull them up 100 times a day. Picked up a Badger belt for them a couple days ago and it's immediately comfy. I remember the DB having a gnarly break in period and even now after 6 years it still isn't as comfy as a brand new Badger. Can't change my mind that DB still have the best pouches though
I've acquired a bit of a collection myself.. The only reason I won't be wearing the badger belt anymore is because I started making my own gear, and feel weird about having somebody else's branding on anymore. Great belt. Really does make a difference. What i made is similar to badgers belt, but a bit closer to db's overall shape. Its killin it. Got some vids on the build/prototype process if interested in checking out at some point. Thanks for the comment and the view. Much appreciated.
I have one as well. I realistically would have a tough time during summer, but great outside in winter for me. I'm in the beginning stages for a custom pouch line up that at some point will have a vest option. Been doing updates, and just put up my first wearable prototype vid if interested. Thanks for the comment.
I just got my badger suspenders today and like your son I'm not the bulkiest up top and I find they rub the shit out of the sides of my neck...does he experience the same? Kind of disappointed.
He's wearing ones I made now. Check out the channel... making custom toolbelts now. They have a return policy, but not sure of the exacts. Sorry you are disappointed. He liked them, but at the time the chest strap wasn't adjustable up and down. That was his only gripe. I spend more time posting to Instagram right now if interested...
I tried the diamondback belt and deluxe suspenders and I hated them. Returned them right away. Very uncomfortable all the way around. Adjustments were terrible and didn’t hold, then the straps were in the way. Stupid. The suspenders (especially for the price) were basically garbage. Terrible design with cheap plastic buckles. I ended up getting the diamondback 701 vest and I actually really like it, but not sure about it’s viability for summertime yet. If I have to get a belt and suspenders for summer, I’m definitely going to get the badger setup and just roll my diamondback pouches on it. Love the diamondback pouches though
Never had any pricier leather setups. Really it's because of how I'm handed. Lefty for pencil, and many fine motor skill tools, but still right handed for "power". Hammer, snips, bigger stuff. Always was able to find a fairly cheap build your own setup at home depot or where ever with nylon stuff. Later came across diamond back.... tough to find a "tech" setup in leather...
Really it's all about preference. I personally don't wear suspenders anymore. 3 point for me, but everybody around me prefers 4... I still need to put up a vid for my finished belt/pad design. Went 4 point. Too many others around me that actually wear suspenders can't all be wrong. Thanks for the comment dude.
Personally, I do not use suspenders. Current personal setup is, Badger padded belt, Diamondback pouches- left is the miter, and on the right is the wrangle. In the video is my son's setup(badger), and his buddies(Diamondback). If I ever decide to get suspenders again, they will be badger...
I ordered off of Badgers site. Anything custom colors will be a couple of weeks, but they have some options ready to go. When I ordered, I left a note at check out about color, and they actually gave me a call to make sure before they sewed it all up. If you wind up having trouble figuring out how to get certain things ordered the way you want it, simply email them through their site, and they'll get back to you with what you need to do. Hope that helped.
Thanks for the review. I went diamondback bags with badger belt and suspenders a few months ago. This video reassures me that I made the right choice 🤘
@Salient pic a video or a short of me working, and you will see it in action. The owner of Badger is one of the og's at diamondback... they are the exact same as far as how they hang .
Both will have a sizing guide on their website. "Belt" size is the length of the pad itself. You want a gap in front at your belly. I'm a 31 inch waist, and my pad is 27(extra small). A guy i work next to each day is about a 34, and he's rocking a small(30 inch)... pretty sure both companies say that you want to shoot for about a 5 or so inch gap if you can make that happen. There is wiggle room with it all. When I was using the badger belt, it was a small(30), and it worked out just fine, but now I have been building my own, so im able to achieve a bit more of a tailored fit for myself... if you are pretty skinny like me and you feel that you really need an extra small(27), diamondback carries that but badger only goes down to 30. Hopefully that helps. Definitely reference their sites for the full sizing charts though.
