REST IN PEACE ROY HARGROVE...what an honor to have met you during my show at the Ritz Carlton Shanghai China and thank you for sitting in on AUTUMN LEAVES. I'll always cherish that. Loretta Holloway
Wow...she is just awesome... And she is currently bringing the house down with her amazing rendition of 'Don't Explain'. Her voice is like fine wine...
Thanks to Diana Ross' interpretation of Billie Holliday's music in "Lady Sings the Blues" an entire generation knows the words of the greatest jazz songs...except I can only sing this song in the harmony as she did! (go figure!) kick-ass band!
Her voice is perfect for this song. Just because someone is an original doesn't necessarily mean they own the song in all its forms. The Island is best sung by Sarah Vaughan not its original composer and singer. Diana Ross is superb here. Love it!
this was a spectacular video, I remember watching it over and over being blown away by the superb quality of the music and the vibe of the whole show was amazing. Should have gotten more press. it was a one of kind project.
Anyway, the second tenor playing was Ralph Moore. The baritone may have been Ronnie Cuber. I'm not sure about that. Diana was looking beautiful. Nice arrangement, too.
You took my kisses and all my love You taught me how to care Am I to be just remnant of a one side love affair All you took I gladly gave There is nothing left for me to save All of me Why not take all of me Can't you see I'm no good without you Take my lips I want to lose them Take my arms I'll never use them Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry How can I go on dear without you You took the part that once was my heart So why not take all of me
All of me Why not take all of me Can't you see I'm no good without you Take my lips I want to lose them Take my arms I never use them Your goodbye Left me with eyes that cry How can I go on dear without you You took the part That once was my heart So why not take all of me All of me Why not take all of me Can't you see I'm no good without you Take my lips I want to lose them Take my arms I never use them
While Ross is no Ella, she does well with the talents she has. Frankly, I can't imagine Ellla pulling off Ross songs like The Boss, I'm Coming Out or Stop in the Name of Love.
+Mi B. The band, the arrangements and Diana couldn't possibly be any better. Pity to those who only eat at McDonalds and shop at Wallmart for everything. Diana is a class act and not meant for these low life's anyway!
Hersheykisss03 yes Hershey , I liked the slower version by Dinah , but have to give Mrs. . Ross her props she wasn't bad at all , but damn I loved that band , would like to go to a concert like that today , probably find one like it in Philly . Thks for comment , a eye-opener.
That's what I thought! The band was totally amazing and she was simply not present. She breezes through this half heartedly with a lazy and lethargic pitch void of energy and urgency or fervor . She even fails to add that amazing show stopper ending like she does in the movie. The band kills it especially at the end and she is not even present. Stop posing and throwing the hair Diana and sing for us sing for your fans! We Love you. Love us back through the music.
