He was a great human! I met him and we chatted about journalism and comedy and carrot juice! Wish our meeting had been longer! The interviews with him on line in every era are great. Health is our greatest wealth and laughter is good medicine, best to you!
If you wanna live longer, get 10 hours sleep; if you wanna take pressure off your kidneys and liver, drink pure water; if you want better skin conditions, eat good food and if you want to get fit, exercise regularly. All these things and many more are all connected, but we don't react until there's a problem, which, in most cases, is too late!
This dude is a quack! How long did he lived for? I guarantee not longer than 85 years old. My grandpa smoked cigars and drank Puerto Rican moonshine everyday and he passed away when he was 97.
He's right about going to sleep after the sun goes down, I semi grew up in the village in Africa before moving to the States, without electricity people naturally goes to bed after the sun goes down and they are rejuvenated very early in the morning waking up with the sun feeling strong and energized to go farming, hunting, etc. Your body will naturally follow nature's universal clock without all the lights that keeps us up in the city.
Wow this is heavy. Elder Gregory opened my eyes to something I didn't realize. I thought 8 hrs of sleep was all you need. 9 hours seems far fetched and impossible until he spoke about how electricity totally created our discourse. He said we should be in bed 90 minutes after the sun goes down. If you think that's far fetched think about a young child. A child will go to sleep 7p-8p at night and won't wake up until sunrise. That's at least 9 hrs. Makes a lot of sense. The law of nature is always a great reference for understanding. God bless our great leader 🤴🏾✊🏾
@King James man Mr. Gregory is so correct IMO sleep is def King, my youngest boy 3 months old get sleepy right around sunset and sure enough he starts get anxious around day break he may wake to feed but he’s definitely dialed in to the world and universe much better than you and I, man if we Could start over with all this knowledge and understanding we would be invincible
@@kaizersoze2606 right on brother. Congrats on your new prince. It's the little things we take for granted now because we're so conditioned by the system of technology. Something as simple as sleep is a thing of the past we take for granted. I saw the same in my baby girl. It was like clock work. I have buddies who work the night shift and sleep during the day. They're so thrown off. It's unhealthy
@@1Scital1 just seeing your response. I actually have so I'm not getting your angle. I'm a little illiterate when it comes to hater lingual. It ain't in me so I can't comprehend. Please elaborate so I can laugh with the "Tickle Me Elmo" below. Two goofballs can't spoil the batch
He was right about Africa. Look at their teeth. Show me an African with bad teeth. Their soil has to be 10x as rich and naturally fertilized. The farmers here in America have no incentive to make the land rich anymore, then factor in the big corporations Monsanto and even Scott's Miracle Grow. Think Round Up... like seriously those children aren't eating chips, pizza, soda, candy, etc.. some probably never seen dental floss, yet some of the poorest countries, dont have major dental problems. Absolutely amazing it truly is
This interview may be the reason why Dick Gregory started going off on folks for interrupting and giving their unsolicited opinions. I low key wanted him to. Rest In Peace Baba Gregory.
@@charlesjohnson2475, same thing my brother said. I would have never thought that, because of the way he talk to this guy on the internet in some of those interviews. I can take my brother's word though. So I believe he is humble. When I said this guy, I don't mean armstrong, I just can't remember the guy's name off the top of my head.
This is what happens when you have people who are full of themselves. Thus is HIS show and the point for the interviewer is at every turn remind the viewer. He would have appeared to be much more smarter than he is if he asked a question and then just listened.
TESSI ТЯФ ...i agree. That brown man is a puppet for the pale faced animal. He is thee devils advocate. He is lovin this shit. Tryn is damnest to git him tripped up.
Truly irreplaceable, he was a straightforward genius. Takes genuine observations and creates repeatable methods to orientate us all. You will never be forgotten Dick Gregory.
Yeah especially when he swore he was right, (saying did you hear what i said), about pat buchanon even though he was totally wrong. Later in his life he used to get really combative, would insult interviewers intelligence and never admit when he was wrong.
I met him in Atlanta and i didn't even know who he was i went to talk to him for two days straight after the first day. I just knew he had my attention and i was feeling his knowledge it was 2000 i am glad to meet him in person
He does ruin the interview by constantly interrupting. Mr Gregory is a deliberate speaker that can’t finish his thought because the interviewer interjects his thoughts
I am so grateful to know my Grandpa was friends with this great, knowledgable man through the Civil Rights Movement into the 2000s! God Bless him and Dick Gregory! Much love, from Brooklyn NYC!
There's something really interesting about this man, he seems too know so much about every topic , i would have loved to have sat and listened to him in person, such a mysterious wise person, whether he's right or wrong , I can't quit listening to him
Knowledge is one thing but right knowledge is a totally different animal all together ppl! Know thyself & thy universe because it's all we need to get rid of this curse!!!
Lost my mother to Sleep Apnea and She was only 44yrs old. Wish I had heard of Dr. Dick Gregory before I lost her. I’m now 44 myself I was 21 when I lost my mom. I was too young an dum to do anything to help her. Sleep deprecation is real. It causes oxygen levels in blood to decrease. The less oxygen you get to your brain over a period of time, you become lethargic, disoriented, and the more deprived of 02 to your brain, you will eventually suffocate. 🙏🏼😢❤️
He's a guy no matter what generation it is world will always miss him. so full of knowledge and just a good person been through it all. Dick Gregory rest in peace buddy
@Eber Yahuan Exactly and people took it literally. Again, while people are sleeping, some are getting up 4 or 5 a.m. getting things done. Just try to think of it in different aspects. For example, working out. Most claim they don't have time to do it. Some will wake up earlier than they use to make it happen or they will let go of something to fit working out in their schedule. The statement was literally about people sleeping.
So glad my Dad introduced me to the voice of Dick Gregory in 1968 after the Kent State massacre and introduced schools in Germany to one of his books in the mid 70's. Always profound as only Dick Gregory knew how to deliver after his days as a comedian. Thanks Armstrong Williams!
Mr Dick would of had to smoke a splif Infront of a mirror at the end of the show just to lower the stress levels, blood pressure and blood acidity the host was causing him.
I really enjoyed the camaraderie between both Gregory and Williams! He showed deference to Gregory & Gregory appreciated it. Williams also showed his love for learning all that Gregory had to teach him!
He is a brother, but MOST of what he says is actually BS. 1) God does not have to come down physically to fix the earth and when God created the earth, He did not come down physically, and he is not a Person. Biblical narration is simply an allegory 2) God made every person differently. Some are short, some tall, some need 9 hours to sleep, others need only three hours.
RU-vid deleted my comment. Wont type it all out AGAIN. But this lowkey explains why a lot of soliders develop PTSD ON DEPLOYMENTS.. JUST THINK OF THE SITUATIONS, AND HOW BUSY THEY'RE ON A DEPLOYMENT.. NOW FACTOR IN STRESS LEVELS. NOW PUT A TIME FRAME OF 1YR ON IT.. presto magic, PTSD
@@tamarikfitzpatrick3745 yea that was my point. Lower ranking unless in infantry dont have time to sleep. We didnt have those white air conditioning trailers when I did my 13 months. The weight loss is laughable.. I deployed at 199, barely 5 months in I was 185 and I was swole already.. a fifth or pint of cheap brown liquor is going cost you $50... you sleeping on a cot for a year plus, no sex, can barely masterbate due to privacy lmao... Then of course trying to call home smh it's like 6 or 8hr difference I forget.... we stayed.up til 4am-430 just to make them calls standing in long azz lines or get a hold of them satellite phones, AT&T made a killing off them calling cards. But we found a workout around once we got wifi and laptops set up, made life a little easier. But once you up that late, might as well stay up for breakfast I was trying to be 1st in that chow line.. good memories, but bad times..
Why is this dude so focused on the 9 hours of sleep..... Dick Gregory would be on a thread and he stopped him “BUT YOU’RE TELLING ME I NEED 9 HOURS?!?”
While I was still a child Dick Gregory's statement about cow's milk and its inappropriate place in our nutrition (because it's meant to nourish a weaning cow into a 500 lbs. beast) supplanted him in my mind from the great comedian he was to the teller of great truths he became. Glad to see he had kept his humor to the end. If you can laugh at the ironies of your own life you keep your mental health and agility. I dislike the interviewer's, Armstrong Williams', constant interruptions usually just before Gregory is about to make his point. He was about to tell us what happens to us after midnight, but the moderator couldn't wait for this. Did he forget about to whom he was speaking?
No, ur totally wrong about the interviewer. The interviewer (Mr Williams) is in a situation where someone ( Dick Gregory) tells u something & it is so far fetched from what u know or believe that u are confused / perplexed. I think the interviewers fault is that he fell into having a conversation with Mr Gregory & forgot that he was interviewing Mr Gregory. Like most listeners of Mr Gregory, we are so thirsty for his information that we get annoyed when someone interrupts him & we don't get the full understanding of his message
The repair stage of the body comes between 2-4 AM. If you don't go to sleep early enough to get into the deep REM sleep by 2AM you will miss the repair stage. Possibly part of the cause of tumors, cancers etc...
I never get tired of listening to Dick Gregory. He came to ECU when I was there in 2006. I thought for sure this man would see 100. I think he was taken out because he knew too much.
Sleep is how the body rejuvenates when you reduce your sleep time you reduce your rejuvenation time, sleep allows everything in your body to work in a natural way because during the day your body is in a constant battle with your conscious mind which likes to do all sorts of unhealthy things to the body.
Damn the man answering the questions cant comprehend... so basically 9pm when I was a child perfect timing. But I would sneak and watch late nite ESPN, monday night football etc. insulin spikes we eaten getting fat....
I agree with him because I have to wake up 5am everyday and I go to sleep at 11 every night because I’m told that I’m always sleeping early. I realize that I need way more hours of rest than 6 hours, I need more rest than 8 hours as well. I’m anemic and I rather fall asleep at 8:30 at night. That gives me like 9 hours which feels a lot longer and I don’t wake up with headaches. I think something is wrong with people who don’t sleep or sleep for like four hours or so. It’s not healthy and the immune system becomes weak because of the lack of sleep. I know a lot of people like that and they tell me I sleep way too much and that they just can’t sleep for that long. In my opinion, that’s a problem. How is your body healing internally? Sleep does wonders. When I get a full night rest, I wake up feeling rejuvenated, energetic and feeling like I can get a lot of work done. When I don’t get rest, im off, I feel sluggish, weak, my eyes are dim. I think that people who can’t sleep for that long have a lot on their minds, and it won’t try to stand still, because then if it does will put more stress on that individual. I know this because people I speak to that don’t sleep for much hours says that it’s things they gotta do and take care of and if they don’t nobody else will so they operate like an energizer bunny really and truly is because they wanna keep busy all the time to slow down thinking or just breathing in and out while the world just stand still. I feel like those people are chasing everything in the material world and not focusing on the internal. Idk but I need lots of time to be alone. People drain my energy. I need to recover by believing that nothing is moving and time is not even a factor. This world is crazy. The things they will have you do will take you off edge. This why everyone runs to star bucks and Dunkin getting ice coffee smh. I drink none of those stuff. Herbal tea, work out, detox body and sleep. That’s my strategy!
The computers and phones are big part of this problem. And the inventors knew/know. They were fully aware of all the bad effects of the "blue screen" tech. Its a deep subject.
I'M NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH IT AND I'M LEAVING BECAUSE HE IS JUST INTERRUPTING AND EVERYTHING LIKE HE KNOW EVERYTHING I WONDER WHY I DID GREGORY'S NOT SCREAMING AT HIM LIKE HE DO THAT ONE INTERVIEW 😂
Am I tripping 🧐 or did that man who wear glasses take his glasses off and read perfectly then put his glasses back on after he finished reading 👀🤣🤣🤣 classic
Sam De Roeck thank you! Why people feel the need to make a problem out of nothing behooves me. Reading and having bad eye sight is two different things as you stated. Thank you for your common sense. The world needs more of it 💯
For real thou, what's up with that?? Near seen an optical problem like that???? Maybe he needed bifocals for reading???? He didnt even read it he kept looking up at the camera??
