Two great things came out of this episode. One, Furonda actually did end up becoming a human rights attorney. Two, Joanie gave one the best quotes in the history of the show! 🤣

nigel was like "nnenna you can also always say no" but then when other girls on other cycles were harassed/touched against their wills, it was the model's fault. oh ok.

You know this show is messed up when there’s so much craziness, that you don’t even notice the kind of racist set up of Nnena’s shoot. She wants to be a chemist. Is the background a laboratory? No, it’s the African savanna and they’ve dressed her in jungle prints.

RN here. Sexualizing nurses is infuriating and very common. However, ANTM was disrespectful to all the "professions."

I felt bad for Nnenna's boyfriend but based on their interactions throughout the season, it honestly seemed inevitable that they were gonna break up even if she never kissed another guy lol. I think the producers saw one of the contestants in an already rocky relationship and decided to stoke the flames for a story.

This photoshoot had more of a soft adult movie setup in how cheap everything looked.

It's interesting how they even had this concept for a photoshoot when Tyra got so upset with Elyse in season one or two for wanting to be a doctor if modelling didn't work out

I wouldn’t care of my man/woman had to kiss someone for work, but nnena’s reaction to kissing that guy and her comments about not missing her man would be what set me over and make me really angry.

Why have they put the model who wanted to be drug researcher anywhere other than a lab? WHY DID THEY PUT HER IN THE AFRICAN SAVANNAH? This feels hella racist.

I think this is a great concept with the WORST execution. The styling was ridiculous, it looked like they were shooting an adult calendar or like adult toy campaign or something. They definitely made this one overtly s*xual just to get a rise out of the models and to sabotage the one with the boyfriend. Edit: THE LOOK IN THE MALE MODEL’S EYES, LMAO. There’s no way they didn’t offer him a raise for that kiss. I wonder how much they paid him.

My bf and I are both actors. We don't even blink an eye when the other has to kiss someone. He even produced a film that I was cast in, and my entire scene was kissing and simulated other stuff. He was on set and watched some of it. It was perfectly fine and professional. That being said, he's in my industry, so he knows the deal. Also, it's something we talked about beforehand. The problem with this show is that it put these women into these situations and never gave them training in what could be expected of them, what to speak with their partners about beforehand to establish boundaries for their relationship, and what boundaries they should set for themselves. That's because this show didn't want them to have boundaries because you can't exploit people who have boundaries and are informed of their rights. Any training that actually cares about the models would have had those conversations with them before doing anything else. And let's be real, if Nnenna had strong boundaries and had not gotten steamy with the model, they would have found a way to penalize her for that too. They would have told her that her relationship kept her from having true passion for the modeling industry. These girls were always between a rock and a hard place.

As a nurse, their idea of what we look like is seriously comical! Lol! But I would also be lying if I said I was ever surprised by anything that ANTM tries to pass off as acceptable! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

There was another episode where the model actually ended up sleeping with a male model and it did ruin her relationship, the episode showed her telling her boyfriend and they were all crying.

"you should be able to model a garbage bag" Okay but it's not about that. It's about the fact that they know that the purpose is to embarrass them, make them look bad on national television

I'm actually surprised the setup wasn't "girls, what are your future aspirations? what are your goals?" which would turn into *_"WHAAAAT?! YOU HAVE GOALS OTHER THAN MODELLING?! AWAY WITH THESE PEASANT GIRLS! AWAY!_* 😂😂😂

They knew exactly what to do. This also reminds me of Shandi (season 2) who cheated her boyfriend during the show, and they aired everything. She even had a conversation with Tyra about this.

I think it seems safe to say that Mr. Jay and likely other production team members have a pornography addiction and no longer understand the difference between appropriate real world conduct and the grotesque conduct they view in pornography?

You notice how they dismissed Gina’s comment during deliberation - it was because they were over it and knew she was going home. Had she been staying, they would have pried to know more info but they didn’t care anymore.

Yes!! I was waiting for this! These producers knew EXACTLY what they were doing. Nnenna was having arguments with her boyfriend over the weeks, so this is what they did. You can't tell me otherwise. Too coincidental. Then Tyra brought Vaughn and her boyfriend on her talk show at the same time with Nnenna.

it's really interesting how Tyra tried to create a situation between Sara & Joannie , if you remember " the elephant photoshoot" they also put Sara & Joannie against each other 🤷🏻‍♂️ I've just noticed that

My issue is this just fetishizes powerful women in these industries and they want to bring them down a peg. Like I say with all of these concepts, I can see fun ideas here. For the PI and prosecutor, i can see them in beautiful power suits or a nice blouse with a blazer and a pencil skirt that is comfortable and pictures of them deliberating with a coworker. For example, they have a legal pad or folder with paperwork and fin poses of them going over the case. There can be a meeting room with a couple of other models with the main one. I mean, what is this?

This photoshoot seemed designed around a primary purpose of undermining the models. Like yes that's usually INVOLVED in this show, but it seemed like the dominant motive here: They took these girls' authentic dreams and then made them take immortalized photos in pornographied versions of them, degrading and disgracing those dreams and degrading the girls who cherished those dreams. And then they CLEARLY instructed the male models to try to get the girls to cooperate with something sexual on camera, because no WAY a male model extra on a show like this would risk violating his contract by crossing the line of professional conduct he's been given. So... kissing her neck and gradually trying to get her to kiss him back, was part of the contract and conduct he was hired to deliver on. Again, purpose being to undermine the girls. Just gross.

Honestly, the way her bf sounded on the phone... it didn't seem like this was the first time she's done something shady with someone else. You said "why would he ask her that?" Well, sounds like it might be a recurring thing, especially when she said "I hate relationships" 👀

I guarantee the producers/Tyra/whoever told that male model to kiss Nnenna to stir up drama in her "insecure boyfriend" storyline/trope. Personally, it felt like the male model kissed her without consent and of course when you're young and under pressure, you go along with it. Then years later after realization, you see it was assault. The most disturbing part is they set her up to get SAd, so they could make her seem like a cheater, "promiscuous", etc. then have the AUDACITY to say "Nnena you can also always say no" when the assault happened so quickly, she was probably in shock. Just foul and evil, they will pay

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure the male model with Gina became an actor, it's bothering me that I can't remember which movie/show he was in Update: he was the older brother in perks of being a wall flower!

I have a suspicion that most of the photographers on this show don't actually edit and retouch the pictures themselves or something, at least up until the later seasons. Almost all of the photos have the exact same style of post-processing, regardless of who shot them, and it looks like the same person or team of people edit all of the photos after the photographer is done shooting. I dont know a whole lot about photography, but I know that different photographers have their own style, and the photos in this show always have the same characteristics. Skin is overly smoothed, color grading and contrast looks off sometimes, and there's often weird little issues like funky edges or wonky looking hands and stuff.

The idea that you can say no any time is true--in real life But this show doesn't create safe situations in which ANY the models feel comfortable doing that. They're probably scared that they will get kicked off. There was that episode you covered where the one model said she was uncomfortable posing nude, and it didn't go well for her. So how are these models supposed to feel empowered to say no, or state their preferences when they are scared it will get them kicked out?

I don't think they paid him extra (they're probably very cheap), but I do think they definitely told him to try to kiss her. I personally wouldn't be mad if my boyfriend kissed a girl for a photoshoot. It's like a film kiss. It's not real. But I would be mad about the things she said about not missing her boyfriend (although I'm sure they just edited that) and only calling because the other girls made a big deal out of it.

Gina is a sweet girl but you have to leave your drama at the door when you get to a shoot. When I modeled, it didn’t matter how bad my day was, I was there to do my job. I feel bad for her, but I do agree that she had the worst picture.

Jade and Gina did not get along at all. And I really feel like Jade was picking and intimidating Gina on purpose. And Janice only made it worse.

Gina really did let Jade’s head games get to her and that was really sad. I don’t know if she should have been eliminated this round, but I did like who ended up winning. It did sort of seem like the male models were part of a setup, that’s definitely possible. In retrospect, a lot of the photo shoots look ridiculous, including this one.

My goal is to sleep all the time so I guess I'd just get up there and go to bed lol

Like what each party is ok with etc given that modeling is the one person’s job. But to do it out of nowhere, it would be taken pretty hard. When just talk to your partner about it first. Communication is key to a good relationship

Honestly, they clearly never consulted ANYONE who works in healthcare! I would never wear white, it would get covered in yucky stuff within 5 seconds of a shift! 😂

I don't agree with the execution. But when I did modelling (i now do acting) my partner is always advised when a character interaction may become intimate. And in the event i don't get time to tell him of a scene or shoot (i may not have the information) i call him right after to explain. It's trust. He knows the industry he knows it isn't real and if it becomes real we cross that bridge and have that discussion. It isn't uncommon to have to show "chemistry" in a shoot or film. But the way it is dealt with and presented in ANTM is the issue.

Loved the concept of this photoshoot. The styling was a little on the nose...but the girls all looked gorgeous!

"You could always say no"... Uh, no? If these girls had watched any of the previous seasons (which I'm sure most of them did) they knew what usually happened to girls who said no on this show. It was NEVER ok for them to say no. They were treated like property, and property does what the owner wants, or it's bye-bye.

With Dani, it looked like they were using pics of Iman and David Bowie as inspiration for her shot.
