Krit is still a dope artist that’s really one of the few real artist you can tell loves and really does music. His music is always well thought out and put together, just unfortunate he didn’t get the right label support, or fit in the era he was dropped into like other artist.
Man KRIT is still dropping timeless music to this day and still producing quality music. He actually just sold out his last tour his fan base is still there
U really did ur best to ignore His Texas influence HuH? Known fact He influenced mainly by Pimp C. Production n sound. U steady avoided sayn Pimp C or UGK. SMH. Y'all Hate Texas cuz we don't need y'all sales. Need to do Z-Ro. A real nigga n Hoover Gangster Crip.
Man, in my mind, KRIT is one of the biggest artists I listen to. He makes very region heavy music in an era where every regions sound is kind of identical due to the internet.
Definitely underrated. Krit similar to Currensy are better as Independent Artists. No need to make a radio hit but making quality music that he wants to make. One of the best Artists of the decade. The 2009-2010 Wave brought us incredible Artists such as Kendrick, Cole, Wale, Freddie Gibbs, Currensy, Krit, Jay Rock etc.
Currensey brings back old great southern rap production. Big krit has that outkast feel in his production. Both artist should've been supported more by us listeners during the dominance of trap. Emergence of drill music, emo and mumble rap.
K.R.I.T. Is still one of the great and most solid artists, and honestly one of my favorite. I think going independent was one of his best moves, but I would never say he fell off , he is still holding his crown high
I remember watching the whole Krit saga play out. The label messed him up so bad with the sample clearance issues. I thought he was going to bounce back with the Mt Olympus moment, but the buzz came and went. His 2017 album after he went indie was one of the best rap albums of the 2010s, but his mainstream buzz was completely gone by that point. He fit the mold for a star rapper in the early 2010s, but by about 2015 he didn't fit at all.
I think you also have to add the fact that he matured at a rate that most didn’t and he changed his sound. It took most of us time to get used to it. Also, he has more of a producer personality.
Krit definitely didn’t stunt his growth he just built a cult underground fan base and he dropped an amazing album last year in 2022 if people go check it out I promise you he still sounds amazing
He is criminally underrated. People love these wack MC's yet when you want to hear good music, they get brushed to the side. Plus, KRIT on the real is so dope yet they don't like genius-style music.
Krit will always be in the "underrated" lane. He would've struggled so badly on a label, especially in today's era of music. His talent and skill level definitely puts him in the Drake, Kendrick, Cole conversations, and tbh.....I wish they'd collab with him more, just to keep him in those convos
@Syonide 187 the fact that Krit sings, produces, raps, and mixes his own songs, TDE might either work him to death or it would be the greatest move of all time
A King Remembered In Time…that says it all. Things don’t always happen when they are expected to. Nonetheless, he will forever be a legend in my eyes. Already. Discography still gets hella spins. He got slappers and joints that mean something. Respect, my brotha…
#BigKrit #BigSean #JCole #Drake #WizKhalifa #NipseyHustle #FrenchMontana #KendrickLamar #Currensy All were apart of that 2010 era where the game shifted and in my opinion is the best era of rap right after the Golden era ... I was so tapped in with hip-hop at this time and it was super dope hearing all these fresh new artist !!! Krit will always be underrated but was a major part of the movement no cap 🔥💙💪🏾✊🏾💯✌🏾
Me being born and raised in Mississippi, being from the that state in general is one of the biggest challenges on why artists like Big K.R.I.T. didn’t get enough recognition. Cause people that never been there gets this assumption that we still living in the 40s, 50s and 60s and movies like “The Mississippi Burning” and other things like what happened recently to Rasheem Carter (RIP) is making it no better. There’s talent in that state but people from the outside are either afraid to take that risk or they just ignorant and still think we still living in the past!!!
He’s probably one of the most underated rap artists i ever seen. The fact he maken his own Beats makes him allready of a greater kind of musician compared to 95% of other rappers and he got the gift of touching you with his lyrics what is something even a lot of the biggest names can’t. When it comes to hip hop it’s all 90’s for me, Krit is one of the very few newer generation artists that does it for me.
Just saw him in concert in the A and it was crazy. Sold out show and he was headlining. I wouldn’t say fell off, more like his timing was never matched with what the mainstream was doing.
He hasn’t fallen off he is still great and the ones that need to hear him do. I fell off from listening to rap in 2020 and boy was that a mistake, Krit and Cole are still my faves!
Although I wasn’t into KRIT in his early days, I will say that the reasons his growth is “stunted” is why I like him. I like that 90’s southern vibe. I like that I don’t hear of him getting into a lot of drama or popping off on social media.
I asked for this Krit is one of my favorite rappers please check out all his projects especially those classic mixtapes. This man is a true legend and should get more recognition but real ones know bout Krit. "Respect"
Krit is 1 of my favs... his music is timeless and i think hes jus to soulful and to lyrical for this generation of music rite now Like this 1 stunted 💥💥💥
Love your content and I appreciate all the hard work you put into the facts! I would love to see a story on Nappy Roots and the down fall of the DJ album … like DJ Clue , funk flex , Tony touch etc… I know we got Khalid but what really happened to the DJ album with exclusives and freestyles that were so popular in the 90s and early 2000s. Thank you for all you do.
Krit cool with the underground love, these new cats need to be tapping in for collabs with him lke how trippie red did the joint w curren$y. He a early 2010 legend
Krit was fire. I always chalk shit up like this to industry politics. Theres always a fire ass artist that fade off from the mainstream but definitely didn't fall off
I fck with Krit the long way... but I realized that I am "Mississippi boy" that grew up listening to Ball & G and Ugk thing wasn't going to crossover...The real know about him tho....
Music is food for the soul but can also be very strange and misleading. It’s an industry where even if someone obviously has skills and creativity and passion doesn’t mean they’ll blow up into mainstream stars. It can be unfortunate and can feel discouraging especially to someone who truly cares about their craft. But krit is a dope artist and to be a dope artist in today’s era doesn’t mean having to be a mainstream “star” like it used to be back in the day
Whoever think that Krit fell off or his music is stunted doesn't understand that every artist doesn't need a major label backing to be successful. His music still appears in video games & movies. He was recently on tour, so how did he fall off?
Krit & Cyhi are probably the only two southern lyricists from the last decade that i love & i hate that I’ll never get the same vibes from this new generation
Big K.R.I.T. Was the J. Cole with no co sign a rapper from the south who rapped over his own beats he produced the era he came out up and coming rappers needed a co sign to further their careers Big Sean had Kanye Drake and Nicki had Wayne J. Cole had Jay Z Kendrick had Dr. Dre Meek and Wale had Rick Ross
Krit is my favorite artist of all times. , the label issues really hurt him then also he’s one of those artist the mixtapes been better than the albums besides 4eva a mighty long time
My favorite from the 2010's hands down. You can also throw in Tito Lopez. Currently it's Larry June for me. I'm 45 and just can't really do a lot these newer cat's, too many similar cadences and beats.
You I definitely agree with u on this one, Big Krit is definitely in the wrong era and it's sad because he's top in my book lyrically and on the beats. Now days rappers rap offbeat, wack lyrics, or don't write for themselves and get all the fame for plagiarism, cappin, and snitchin.😢
I love K.R.I.T., he was great most of the time, but he was confusing too much of the time. He did conscious, gangster, pimp, and gospel rap. The quality of the music was always good, but I’m one of those “pick a lane” people. I’m still upset that Mos Def did a track with Jim Jones. 😢😢
A good artist touches on all aspects of humanity. We as human beings don't feel the same way all the time. KRIT's albums and mixtapes will take you on a journey.
He's not trying to be a radio or Tiktok rapper with his sound. He's a phenomenal artist with a successful career and tons of fans who respect his artistry. What more could you ask for? I hate the mentality some people have that you have to be a superstar in order to be respected as an artist.
