I personally don't think he got a fair shake, but I also feel the Giants did it to themselves as well by overpaying him when they could have just let him go. The franchise has been in true dysfunction for over a decade, and aside from Barkley, they really had no real serious weapons on offense.

Why it makes sense to move on from Daniel Jones. For what it's worth, I believe the injury history is hard to ignore. Also, he always played behind a bad offense and an even worse offensive line, so I'm not so sure a better QB would have played much better than DJ for the same Giants offense and behind the same offensive line. Conclusion: he never really go a fair shake. In the end it's time to move on from him, probably after the 2024 season. I wish him the best as a future backup QB in the league. I just hope he stays healthy.

A better QB definitely adds more than 6 wins. DJ is not good. Good guy. But not an elite football talent. Can run fast, but not an NFL runner. Has prototypical size, not an elite arm. This is before we talk about his play processing and college pedigree.

I agree. He's a player you can win with but not because of; in other words, he needs a complete team around him to shine. Worse QB's than DJ have won championships, but they always had a really good supporting cast (Trent Dilfer comes to mind). Anyway, let's hope the GM gets the rebuild right this time. We really need him to make it work, especially now that Saquon just signed a big money deal with the Eagles.@@GhostZombieLife

Mixed Bag. The Giants did try to give him weapons and a big contact. They even cleaned house and hired Daboll for Jones. The problem is Jones wasn't going to improve in a timely enough manner. It's certainly not DJs fault the Giants looked terrible this year. The Oline and defense literally collapsed

Give player one coach: "Maybe coaching wasn't great" Try to give player multiple coaches to fix it: "OMG how could anyone have succeeded?!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 People need to just realize sometimes a QB just isn't that great on their own and going to another organization isn't going to magically fix it in most cases

Brian Daboll took that same team with the same roster and got them to the playoffs when they were 4-13 the year prior. And there were rumors circulating that Jones wanted to retire and wasn't liking football anymore the year before Daboll came

It clearly didn't translate to past season in any event, when you'd think he'd get better, right. In his 'peak' year he didn't even do what Russell Wilson did this year performance wise. If you want to argue he can be a QB that at his best is mid, fine whatever - he's never demonstrated to be a great QB by any stretch at any point.

That's not what the market says unfortunately. I think there are several QBs that deserve $40 million plus. Now for the $50 million plus? Nope. I really only put Mahomes there because of his Superbowl wins but that's it. The Giants made a mistake drafting him and doubled down when they gave him that contract extension. Forget about the Superbowl. Can he even win the division? Seriously, does anyone think he can win the NFC East? No one does. If you do not think your QB is capable of winning the division then management and ownership need to dump him and move on. As for them talking about Kenny Pickett. I believe Kenny is definitely a better QB than Daniel and Kenny is still at best a good backup QB.

Daniel Jones got drafted 6th overall in 2019. He's had 1 decent season in 5 years. He then got overpaid and played terrible before getting injured. So YES he got more than a fair shake.

@@T2Pgaming it's been proven that when he has an open wr he doesn't pull the trigger because he's trying to find an open WR instead of throwing a ball with anticipation. Once the bootleg runs are under control with a spy, it's over. The guy can't manage a high volume of passing plays in a row with minimal blocking without making a mistake. You can blame the skill players from not being explosive enough but that's not what's keeping Jones from making smart placement throws off smart reads.

what they aren’t understanding is that the front office who took jones at 6 is not the same front we have today. Every giants fan knows that jones was the owners pick bc he reminded him of Eli. Literally no one wanted jones BUT Mara. And joe schoen and Daboll are essentially stuck with him.

Omg yes, not every player is an entirely organizational failure that can be redeemed into a top QB on a different team like people want to do these days with every 1st round QB. Lots of QBs end up not working out, at some point there's enough years/coaches to see they're just not good. When they have one coach - "Well maybe the coaching wasn't that good" When they have multiple coaches "Well how could you expect anyone to succeed with that?!" Calm down, a lot of the QB's just end up not being good.

Give Danny Dimes an Andy Reid, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, Kevin Stafanski and he would be a consistent top 10 level type of QB. These analysts go after Daniel Jones but in the same breath will fall on the sword for Russell Wilson & Justin Fields. I bet if Wilson went to the Giants these analysts would hype them up as a playoff contender like they did with Denver.

Daniel Jones is an ok at best QB. What made it worse for him is that the Giants attempted to give Jones weapons through the draft over his tenure…however they missed on every offensive piece they wanted to have…every…single…time. Giants drafted good defensive pieces but through trade or through draft..every piece people thought were promising and could give Jones help..just flopped 🤷🏾‍♂️. The organization tried, but failed. So honestly, Jones wasnt good, and the organization is even worse.

To be fair, North Dakota State is a powerhouse in Div. 1 FCS football.. they’ve won like 9 national championships since 2011.. So even though it’s not the highest level, they are a “football school”.. And before injury and a bunch of other stuff, Carson Wentz was tearing the whole league to shreds..

As the SUPREME NYGANGSTAS fan I will say there is a lot of truth and a lot of 🧢 in what they were saying… Yes I agree that Daniel Jones wasn’t the answer and paying him was a big mistake, but the media moves the goalposts for the Giants more than any other team in the NFL… 1) If everyone knew that the Vikings were fraudulent, why were they favored so heavily before they played us in the playoffs??? Everyone thought that the Vikings were one of the most competitive teams in the NFL the way they had back to back historical comebacks 🤷🏾‍♂️ so that’s where Joy TaylorGang is wrong 2) THE GIANTS HAVE BEATEN GOOD TEAMS as well in the past 2 years…???? When you top that off with all of the injuries from this season, you realize that the Giants were on the side of misfortune in this past year. Sure he never should have been as high as he was but he did technically put Duke on the map. But the main point is that he never had help at WR or OL at all! Also Barkley was hurt more than not really having consistent help

Got Daniel Jones paid.. Jones by far had his best season last year & coincidentally it happened when Saquon was healthy.. teams game plan to stop #26 & they dare #8 to beat them by throwing

Look up Jones Record without Saquon. Jones actually has better Record without Saquon. Jones is not a elite QB, but the guy took all the heat and that Oline took zero. What did Saquon do last season?

Giants didn’t pick up his 5th year option and his giant career was on the line. The Giants made the playoffs and won the playoff game because of him and he got paid. His giant career is on the line again because the giants can draft a QB and they can cut him after the 2024 season. Let’s see what he does this season.

Joy mentioned the offense and how low they ranked, and that was with Barkley. So it would make sense that they don't overpay him just as the Eagles did. Once they move on from Jones, which will come after this season, unless they are able to move him sooner, they will have fixed a mistake.

If you asking me that question, my answer would be, during the Gettlemen era, no. Because during that period, he was setup for failure with how Gettlemen failed to buikd around him and did not maintain a stable environment with the coaching staff, having to play for Pat Shumur for just one year then with Joe Judge for two years. He was essentially damaged goods by the time he got to Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen

There’s a reason why the Giants in reality only gave Jones a two-year contract with an option for two more… Jones will be on the roster this year and gone by next off season. If I were the Giants, I’d go HARD after Russell Wilson and draft a project QB.
