The fact that she actually accepted coming on judge Judy to be exposed nationwide instead of just giving the lady back her 200 dollars shows such bad decision making
She was just a stupid person. The plaintiff knew she had her by the balls that's she went for the kill knowing it was a case of false pretense but the pretender ought to have negotiated her way out first by returning the sum collected and then returning all documents in her possession.
Desperate scammer… since production pays the plaintiff she obviously assumed coming to the show would benefit her because she doesn’t have to actually pay the plaintiff anything back… just pathetic if that’s her reason..
I can honestly say that I've never seen him do that except this one. Maybe I just never noticed but he's the antithesis of nosy; he's lazy. 🙂 He's stated that himself, BTW, so no hate.
@@michelleprieur1 Byrd has always come across like he’s put out to do his job. He does look lazy. He _always_ looks at evidence before handing it to JJ. Always.
He's not nosy. Sometimes you'll see him go back before giving papers to JJ because he knows what she asked for and if it's not correct, then he won't waste her time. 35 years experience he has. So definitely not nosy.
It is illegal to claim to be an attorney, and is punishable by law. How in the world is the defendant getting away with this? I wonder if JJ has reported her???
If you say you are an attorney and take money to perform as an attorney for someone you have to have graduates from law school and passed the Bar exam otherwise you are a fraud.
I can't find any info that she was charged, but there are some Facebook comments (including on the official Judge Judy page) that she is a known scammer. It does catch up to her, that she does have to move when "it gets too hot".
It’s so easy to find out if someone is a real attorney. Each state has a bar website. Type in the name and if they are a licensed attorney they will be there.
@@lescobrandon9693 it’s amazing how many ppl don’t know that but I get it, some are older and too trusting. Same with funeral homes having funeral rights but ppl are talked into, almost intimidated into buying extra stuff that’s not legally required.
True, and you SHOULD look that up before you hire someone, but I think it’s reasonable for someone to not even consider the fact that she’s lying, because; well, who does that??? Who puts a whole ad out when they’re not legally qualified to do the job? Scammers is the answer, of course. But inherently it’s in our nature to assume the best from other humans.
Frfr! Like it’s on your card ma’am! Even if you didn’t say it out of your mouth, that’s what you go by. When you give your cards out, people contact you bc they are looking for an attorney!!! Like what is really wrong with Lopez!!! Must be loco! 🤣🤣
I love it! It reminds me of a time when a defendent, approximately 18 years old, presented herself as an "accountant". JJ asked her if she was a "CPA" and she said Yes. Then JJ asked her what CPA stood for and she didn't have a clue!
Very true. I guess with some of the litigants who appear before JJ, they only carry a degree in bovine scatology so they will make up a story they believe JJ will fall for (this usually backfires).
Judge Judy operates on pure common sense and facts. That's why I love watching her. She taught me always to have proof in hand when trying to prove anything of importance.
I feel bad for Byrd. He wasn't even asked to be on the new version of her show. Never even told he wouldn't be continuing. She's a heartless egomaniac.
@@PhyrexJ Money has nothing to do with having integrity and it's clear she has none to have handled the situation as she did, especially considering his wife (a JJ producer) was battling brain cancer at the time. And you think money makes all that okay?
Bloody cheek of Ms Lopez! Telling the lady she's an attorney when she's nothing of the sort is literally Criminal! JJs look of disgust is understandable and I bet she went backstage and had a rant about it.
Yeah it would have been nice if this heartless piece of work would have told him he wouldn't be on for the new version of her show. And while his wife was battling brain cancer too. She's disgusting.
I love the faces the fake attorney keeps making...LOL. She actually has the personality of a lawyer. Many Lawyers lie for a living. What was she supposed to be proving with her rebuttal evidence?!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
First thing that came to my mind when I saw the defendant's name on-screen (admitting she wasn't an attorney) was _"Lucy you got some 'splainin' to do!"_
If a patron writes "refused" and takes the documents in question, USPS either will not let you leave or will write out a lengthy incident report(for theft). They don't let you refuse to sign AND take the certified mail. That 100 percent defeats the purpose.
So it looks like she has her J.D and she can definitely do a lot of legal services that attorneys provide; but she cannot say she's an attorney..she must can't pass the bar cause if you get your JD you might as well sit for and pass the bar...but now if she sits, this can go into her character screening.
Love the way Judy smirks a few seconds in, after the first words Lucy...' the attorney' says. The smug look on Lucy's face gets wiped off pretty quickly!
Hello Michele how are you doing? I was going through some comments here when I stumbled on your profile, I got caught by that wonderful smile and couldn't just pass you by without saying hi 😊
When she claimed she's an attorney the lady should of verified it on Google or an attorney site that legally looks up certified attorneys. A little ground work goes along way. Research everything b4 u committ specially in bogus FB stuff
Some people aren’t technologically savvy irrespective of how modernized the world is. Many Facebook users are still too trusting and view businesses on FB as legitimate. 🤷♀️
She blindly trusted everyone in the Facebook group they were in simply because it was a closed, private group which made her believe that everyone was credible and no random weirdos like Lopez could get in. Common sense should've told her that you don't truly know who you are talking to on the internet if you don't know them in the real world.
Wow that is definitely fraud I don't know how she could do that so the lady may be able to press charges for that now that she has confirmed that she is not an attorney. I wonder if she pursues that probably will.
You can tell the defendant was nervous as hell because she’s gulping before she even says anything. I am not sure how she thought she’d outsmart JJ. She couldn’t outsmart the dumbest person on earth, especially because there’s clear evidence she’s got ads out there that say she’s an attorney
The 'Attorney at Law' Trying to settle the score Made decisions that were really horrendous. But knowing what's legal, With an eye like an eagle, Judy's response to it all was stupendous.
Lol, first time I used an attorney when i was 19, he shook my hand, gave me to his legal assistant, who printed up some forms for me to fill out and return with all the fees. When i did they filed them at the court. lol, I did all the work, then paid them for allowing me to do the work, and then paid them to take the forms to the court! L 4 me! If you can read AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, 90% of stuff can be handled by yourself, even the forms are free from the courthouse all you pay are filing fees..
Lucy's actual name is Lucia and her current professional listed online seems legit.... "Lucia served in the US Army for a Transportation Battalion then worked as Military Police overseas. Lucia worked as Regional Human Resources Director and Manager for both large and small global organizations. Lucia’s experience is supported by a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in English and Irish Literature, a Post-Graduate Degree in Law (JD) and a Masters in Human Resources Management Degree and currently is enrolled at Harvard University completing her PhD."
D9esnt mean she passed the bar to practice law. You can pass Nursing school but if you don't take and pass the RN exam then you cannot work as a Nurse.
I am surprised Jude Judy didn't call her out on the "Lucy Lopez, JD, MSHRM" because JD is juris doctorate which is the degree you obtain when you are an attorney. So she is lying in her signature in that email that she, herself, gave to Jude Judy to "prove" she isn't hoodwinking the plantiff.
@@alecberrg Judge Judy is an arbitrator who can only award money judgements. If the defendant really lied about being an attorney this blatantly the case probably belongs in a criminal court.
“Don’t use social media to conduct business”! I’m 35 and don’t have social media such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! I do my research thoroughly before using any business especially for personal matters!
Despite the fact that I told the plaintiff I was an attorney and despite the fact that there is a flyer with my name on it stating I am an attorney, that doesn’t mean I was saying that I was an attorney when I’m not an attorney but I told her I was an attorney because my flyer says I am an attorney.
Judge Judy should’ve forwarded this case to the district attorney in her jurisdiction and had her prosecuted for practicepracticing law without a license
FORMER FEDERAL FRAUD AGENT/INVESTIGATOR HERE!!! What I recommend that the Plaintiff does is to take this matter to a Criminal Court. Fill out the appropriate forms to request that a Judge approves an Arrest Warrant for the Defendant. If approved, they will arrest her and she can pursue criminal charges. It's obvious, as Judge Judy speculated, that she's a hustler. I can assure you that this was NOT the Defendant's first rodeo and that there are other victims that she preyed upon. This is the only way to stop her illegal activity. I believe that Judge Judge should've awarded the Plaintiff Punitive Damages, if permitted in this program, to further show the Defendant that this type of behavior will NOT be tolerated. Best wishes to the Plaintiff!!!
This is what happens when you're trying to cheap out rather than look up a real law firm. You have social Media do all the work for you rather than do it your self by calling around. That's why I rather do things the old fashioned way. Too unfortunate.
