Gentlemen, I bought a 2023 F350 nearly identical to the red truck. I use it primarily to tow a 40', 16k lb 5th wheel. I have no issues pulling through the mountains in Georgia and North Carolina. In fact we have driven some pretty scary mountain roads with ridiculous grades with no issue going up or down. I would love to have a diesel but don't need one and I've eliminated all of the emission issues and high cost of maintenance. Totally happy with my decision.

I’m happy you love your gasser but how much extra maintenance do you think a diesel has? Mine uses 13 quarts of oil vs 6 or 7 for the gasser and I have to change the fuel filters every 20k miles. I buy a Ford filter kit from Amazon for about $60 and replace them myself in 45 minutes. Outside of that and DEF every 3k miles please tell me about the extra maintenance that a diesel requires, maybe I’m missing something.

I have a 2020 XLT w 7.3. I now have 165,000 miles on it. It runs like a champ. I'm in the construction industry and I regularly tow 10k-16,000 lbs. A lot of people underestimate these trucks. I tow this weight at times up to over 100+miles. Ford knocked it out of the park with the 7.3 motor. I'm hoping to hit 300k miles.

I have a 2023 F250 with the 7.3L gas. Use it to tow a 35' 5th wheel trailer. No problems towing. Love driving with the cruise control on. The 10 speed transmission does its job keep the speed consistent. The truck shifts down on hill decents to keep the speed under control. Don't need to use the brakes. Averaging about 8.8 mile per gallon when towing. Not as good as diesel, but gas is a lot cheaper. I think gas is a more cost effective solution (intial cost, fuel, and maintanence) if your trailer is within the capacity of the truck.

I have a ‘17 F250 XLT with the 6.2L gasser and it tows our 10k pound gooseneck horse trailer beautifully; never had a problem. I’d like to upgrade to the 7.3L, but the prices are crazy. I also have a '17 F250 XLT with the 6.2L gasser with the 6 speed tranny I had purchased new in late'17 just before the '18s were coming out and it tows our 14k lb. 5th wheel quite nicely. Other than the death wobble (fixed) , I have never had an issue with the truck. I am a little anal about maintenance, so I change the oil/filter every 4k and the trans fluid/filter every 25k. I now have 78k miles on the truck. I have changed the brake pads at 50k with Akebono pads which have proven to be superior to the OEM pads. Outstanding braking with no brake fade when towing in the mountains and I need to be on/off the brakes more frequently. The only modifications I have done to it are: installed AirLift Air Bags, a Hellwig Big Wig Rear Sway Bar, a K&N Throttle Control Module and a K&N Replacement Air Filter. For a short time, I installed the K&N CAI but went back to the factory air box b/c my wife couldn't tolerate the loud intake noise it made when towing hard. I am researching which other CAI's will give me performance without the loud noise. (BTW, the K&N CAI is for sale if anyone is interested in it), I installed a PMF Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit with the Bilstein 5100, I swapped out the stock Rancho Shocks for Bilstein's (Bilstein never again - they are too stiff) and I added the OEM keyless starting system. Overall I am very pleased with this truck.

I've towed our 9000lb GVWR 34' travel trailer nearly 25,000 miles with our '21 F-250 Lariat FX4 w/ the 7.3. I've towed it over the Rockies four times, including the Teton pass and the Ike Tunnel on I-70 in Colorado. The engine is a workhorse. I live in the southeast so I'm usually towing in a lot flatter territory, but I can tell you my truck has had zero problems getting up hills or even engine braking on downgrades. I usually climb grades at 3000rpm at the speed limit. I installed a Transfer-Flow 58-gallon replacement fuel tank which helps tremendously with range. For the curious, I average 9mpg towing the camper. By all accounts, the powerstroke gets about 12mpg towing the same camper. That's about 25% better fuel economy with the turbo diesel, but just checking average fuel prices on AAA, diesel is 23% more expensive on an average basis than gasoline, so fuel cost per mile is very, very close. The only thing that really sucks with this truck is the cruise control when towing -- it's too laggy and results in large downshifts when on rolling hills.
@stgibson2810

Modern diesels have lost every single advantage thanks to fuel prices and the EPA. Diesel is $1 more per gallon where I live so you will never offset those initial costs with slightly better fuel economy.

TFL needs to do a max Ike with the 6.8 super duty with 4.30 gears. For people who are looking for an even more affordable truck with heavy towing and payload capability. There's not any RU-vid videos anywhere with the 6.8 towing, just the initial reveal and test drive when it first came out. Let's see with the 4.30 gears how it stacks up against the 6.6 GM with the 3.73s. At least a 16k gooseneck trailer to keep it within the same weight test as previous testers

@257Tony true, but alot of people go with the STX package, which you can get with a 6.8 since it's based off an XL. With the super dutys also having the XL offroad option, it also gives buyers an option to get a base model truck with offroad capabilities that people may want without all the extra bells and whistles. Diesel is just too much of a premium for man card excuses. That Godzilla engine is used in class A motor homes that are Very heavy and it's one tough hombre and relatively cheap to own and maintain by comparison to pricey diesels that can have massive repair costs, especially the DEF exhaust system if it goes south...

Get what I got. XL Crew cab long bed 4x4 7.3 with 4.30 gears and 48 gallon gas tank. It’s got every available option on an XL, including remote start, up fitter switches, bed liner, nice screen, bed lights, tailgate man step, and countless other options. It’s got vinyl floors (a must) and vinyl seats that everyone thinks are leather. Sticker was $56,000 and I got over $6,5000 off with ford a plan, so $49,500 plus tax. I added a level kit, new front shocks, an upgraded track bar, 20” black wheels and 35x12.50 mud tires. Then I sold my stock wheels for $1200. It looks better than this red truck and would cost you $60,000. If you take good care of it you could sell it for $30,000 7 years later. Heavy duty trucks hold their value extra well. I don’t care about all these extra features I don’t need. Ford is charging people an extra $25,000 for leather, sunroof, led headlights, and other stuff I don’t care about.

My 2021 Titan Pro-4X (all options except the sunroof and cooled seats) was $46k new when I bought it. The reverse camera is awesome (all of the cameras actually) but the reverse lights suck. I don't know if that's for the camera's sake or what but if you need to see anything outside of the camera view you can forget it. I am getting ready to put in some bumper mounted reverse lights to really light up the night in back of me to help out when reversing (especially with the multiple different kinds of trailers I am backing up).

The Super Duty recalls are a real problem. All mfg have recalls, but it is the quantity and how they are handled by the dealers that is important. I have lost significant use on my 2023 Super Duty because of the time of repair that has been extensive because of the lack of parts even though Ford says they are available. I think I will consider another brand because of the recalls while paying attention to the recall rate. Ford recalls are horribly mismanaged not to mention the quantity..

The bigger issue is which truck will give you the bigger return at trade-in time? I’m betting the 6.7 diesel will by a larger margin.

For between $800 to about $4000 you can supercharge the gasser and get 600hp and 650ish ft lbs of torque to around 850 hp and 875 to 880 ft lbs of torque and still have reasonable longevity bet lower mpg. You can go all out and spend around $10000 to boost the hp and torque to 1200 and 1065 but mpg will be 4 or 6 max and the engine will ware out fast.
