Try and make the argument as to why DJ deserved that kind of money, but whatever your argument is, it doesn’t erase the fact that DJ is a below average QB

Jones definitely got overpaid. I’m so sick of this political stuff. Are you confident that your QB can get you to the SB and win it. Mahomes=yes, Burrow=yes, Rodgers=yes, Jackson=yes, Lawrence=yes, Allen=yes…so you pay them. Dak=no, Jones=no, Cousins=no…so you don’t pay them. The deal makes a ton of sense. 82M guaranteed, the Giants won. The guaranteed money equals his 5th year option plus an exclusive franchise tag number (estimated) They can cut bait in 2 years. The Giants had to do this because they didn’t pick up his 5th year option and they didn’t want to be in the situation that Dak was in. The Cowboys could have signed Dak to a below market value extension but played chicken and lost. The Giants were smart and cautious at the same time. Great deal. Hopefully it works.

Love how Acho switched up quickly cause he realized Daniel Jones had 24 passing touchdowns his rookie year. People who don't watch him and love staring at the numbers wouldn't be able to recognize the talent you can only see by watching, yet they love to speak as if they know his actual value. Especially given his injury plagued receiving core that has had to use tons of practice squad players, and an O line with a great left tackle, terrible guards, terrible center, and a young inexperienced right tackle. Considering all that, and the fact that he still was the leading factor in taking this team to the playoffs with his arm AND legs, AND winning a playoff game... look around at what other QBs who are better than him and QBs who are worse or not as talented (really good arm talent, great running QB) are making and his contract is about the right number

You are delusional saying that he was the reason the Giants made the playoffs you obviously don't know football. The first 8 games the Giants were 7-1 due to the running game and timely defense NOT Jones. If Jones was the reason why did the Giants go 2-6-1 in the second half. The Giants will have buyers remorse by year 2. Just remember this in 4 years Jones has yet to audible out of a play.

You’re acting as is 24 tds is something special. Don’t leave out that he had 12 ints and lost 11 fumbles. 23 turnovers to 24 passing tds. That’s garbage, plus he has 57 turnovers over his 4 year career. Everything you wrote are just excuses why he is a bottom tier QB. That isn’t the right number. Considering that he is a turnover machine. 1 season doesn’t take away how terrible of a passer he is, can’t read defenses so he just takes off and runs. There’s not much of quality watching him play.

@@jguterrez01 There's also no denying that they simply lucked out. The ball bounced their way a LOT in those games. Crazy fumbles and whatnot. They proceeded to lose most of their games after that 7-1 start. I don't think the DJ contract is "bad" but I don't think it's good either. They'll be an 8-9 or so team in purgatory.

Also had 7 rushing Td's and over 700 rush yards. He proved last year he has real value and has a legit playoff win after all the reconstruction the Giants have gone through since he got there. I don't believe he is the answer either but he has shown a lot of improvement.

Daniel Jones had a breakout season... and finished 13th in passer rating behind Ryan Tannehill and Andy Dalton. Just seems like making him the 7th highest paid player in the league is a bit much especially if the Giants finish 6-11 next year which would surprise no one.

Honestly, it's not a bad deal. The giants only pretty much guaranteed money through the first 2 years. If he gets worse or doesn't improve, they can dump him after 2 seasons. There are plenty of incentives for Jones if he exceeds the contract as well and earns more pay.

I don’t think Daniel Jones is the truth or anything, but I’d be curious to see him with Dabol and a fully healthy receiving core. They don’t have a real #1, but they have some solid #2 and #3 guys they can build on. At days end, Jones is serviceable and he’s cut down on mistakes that cost you games. That’s worth paying, and he’s a QB so you’re just going to overpay.

Minny had a horrible defense, it was the offense that was 8th in scoring and hence the close games the defense gave up more points than the offense scored and their offense were 8th in the league. If Minny had even an average defense they would have won more.

I get people are saying shouldn't keep him and how good is he, but who else you going to get who is better on the market this year? They made the playoffs, yes ok they probably won't win a superbowl with Jones, but they consistently make the playoffs going forward thats an improvement. Remember as much as these teams are sports teams, they are also businesses. And to make real money, you have to be relevant. Sometimes it isn't all about winning the superbowl, because that is a hard thing to do, so you stay relevent for years and become a stable decent franchise and maybe 1 year you get lucky and make it

There was this bum kid named Kadarius Toney playing for the Giants. He caught a few passes, 39, for about 400 yards in 2021. But he caught almost nothing in 2022, so the Giants wisely threw him away to the Chiefs because he wasn't any good. I heard he made a couple plays for the Chiefs in a game played in February 2023.

....yeah let's skip over the fact that he threw 24 in his rookie year. With two terrible coaching regimes and rosters (and add a few injuries in there). He's progressed and gotten better every year. Kid has the right work ethic, personality and desire to win. Let's see how this works out instead of dissecting his contract

Other people have had bad coaches and situations. Most didn't look as bad as DJ. Its funny how some people are given so much leeway but others are criticized and shown the door even after playing well for a decent amount of time. I'd argue he's not top 10 and should not be getting top 10 money.

The QB “market” has inflated to the point where you can’t afford to field the average veteran QB and still afford to get him protection, weapons, and a defense. It’s unsustainable, and we have more than enough data to conclude that paying your QB (unless his name is Patrick Mahomes) 15%+ of your cap will cause your team to irrecoverably regress within a year or two. Most of the QBs who are making deep playoff runs are either on the rookie scale or are value QBs with sub-$30M contracts.

The didn’t mention his rookie year when he put up 24 passing TDs in 12 games. He was on pace for 34 total TDs his rookie year over 16 games. Had a passing TD each game and multiple games of 3+ passing TDs.

Did you say Jones had a better year then Carr? How? Carr had more yards TDs and yes interceptions. Jones had legs but he also had a coach on his side and a line better then carrs. Carr was benched with 2 games left and still was a better qb then Jones who had more games. Giants Def is better then raiders too. 40 million for Jones is a slap in the face to real qbs and I hope this backfires hard. Hurts is also in this category because he wasn't much better then Carr and all of a sudden after saying he should be traded last year is praised for no reason
