@@GODemon13 In the Mosaic law, Israelites who broke the command against working on the Sabbath faced the death penalty. This penalty not only underscored the supreme importance of observing a holy day of rest as a sign of Israel’s covenant relationship with God but also established a symbolic truth regarding God’s eternal rest. In Exodus 35:2, as Israel was about to embark on the work of building the tabernacle, Moses gathered all the people together and said, “For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.” This passage reiterates the Sabbath observance that the Lord had given to Israel through Moses in Exodus 31:12-18 and earlier in Exodus 20:8-11 and Exodus 16:21-26. Observing the Sabbath was an important sign of the covenant between God and His people. Failure to observe this critical symbol of the covenant was such a serious breach of the relationship that it was assigned a penalty of death. Up to this point, Israel had a proven track record of either forgetting or disobeying God’s commands. In the people’s excitement to begin constructing the tabernacle, it was imperative that worship not be overlooked even to do praiseworthy work. For putting work before the Lord was a challenge to His authority. Thus, the death penalty emphasized the seriousness of maintaining fidelity to the solemn pledge between the people and God. Gathering sticks in itself is not wrong. It could be for the purpose of providing fire for warmth or cooking. The problem is that a man was deliberately and flagrantly gathering sticks in the open on the Sabbath day when God had commanded that no work be done on the Sabbath. This was a direct challenge to God’s authority. Keeping the Sabbath was a sign for the people of Israel, but it also holds symbolic significance to all those who are in covenant relationship with the Lord. New Testament believers are under a new covenant and no longer required to keep the Sabbath as a legalistic day with rules about no work; however, the principle of prioritizing time to worship and honor God remains. When we give preeminence to God, we acknowledge to ourselves and others that He is Lord over our work, our time, and our lives. To fully understand the spiritual significance of the Sabbath, it is necessary to see its connection to the rest of God. The creation account records that God, after creating the heavens and the earth in six days, rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2-3). This rest of God teaches us that the Creator graciously set an example for how we His creatures are to spend and enjoy a regular day of rest from our labors. But there is a deeper meaning to this phrase. God’s rest points to a spiritual rest for us-the joy of heaven forever with God-that comes through faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to Him (Hebrews 4:1-10). If we do not rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, we remain spiritually dead. Under the Old Covenant, the Jewish people labored to make themselves acceptable to God but, of course, were unable to keep all of God’s laws. The sacrifices required by the law had to be repeated again and again to allow sinners to approach a Holy God. The elaborate but inadequate system was designed to point to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who would offer “once for all time one sacrifice for sins.” After Jesus completed His mission at Calvary, He sat down and “rested” at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:1-14). Because of Christ’s completed work on the cross, believers no longer have to labor to be right with God but can enter into His rest (Hebrews 9:11-14). Jesus is our Sabbath Rest, and in Him we cease from our toils and find complete rest from our self-effort. We rest in Christ, not just one day a week, but always. The consequence of continuing our work when we should be resting in Christ is death-foreshadowed by the death penalty for Israelites working on the Sabbath. For Israel, keeping the Sabbath was a sign of obedience to God’s covenant. Those who did not observe the Sabbath by ceasing from work were by their actions openly proving that they were not partners in the agreement. On the other hand, those who faithfully kept the Sabbath made a public show of their resolute faithfulness to the Lord of the Sabbath. The weekly Sabbath is also a symbolic reminder of God’s divine, eternal rest, and the death penalty for working on the Sabbath pointed to the fate of unbelievers who refuse to enter God’s rest through the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

If God did not create evil and evil was created by some other being, then does that mean God is not in control? If God is in control he either created it or allowed it to be created. If not, If God did not will its creation or allowed for it to me says God is not in control. The other thing that I think about is if God did not create it, rahter it came from Satan. God created Satan and the Angels who fell with him. Did God not see that coming when he created these beings? If that is the case, then it sounds like God is not in control as he did not anticipate this. Or did God create these beings with the ability to do evil and if that is the case then evil has its root in an action from God.
@heidibrown997
@heidibrown997 5 месяцев назад
Truly, this is going to the root. Did God make man and angels with the free will to choose Him. Yes, He did, and in that sense He made evil possible. But love is not love unless there is that freedom to chose. Angels knew full well the cost of rebelling against God. That to me is puzzling. While man can be deceived or blinded, Angels are not deceived but just what we would call rebellious. So even Angels obey God because they love God. God who had created Angels before making mankind, made man to be served by Angels, to judge Angels even. I believe from reading the Word, that is why Satan rebelled. The point you make is still true. However, God's plan is good, so good in fact, that we have have all eternity to praise His grace. We do see darkly not clearly for now, until faith shall be sight. Could it be, that none of us could appreciate God's goodness, love and kindness without the evil that Satan personifies. In conclusion, God is our Father to love, to be in awe of and worship. Since He IS GOOD, then all His plans are good.

@@chrissonofpear1384 Then here's something a bit broader for you: Regulating something is not synonymous with approval or endorsement. As an expression of His love, God gives us freedom to choose, i.e. we're not robots. Unfortunately, on our own, we are naturally proud and rebellious towards God and make poor decisions based on self-centeredness rather than God-centeredness. As God knows this, He will implement regulations in order to minimize the detrimental impact we have on each other. Jesus did the same regarding divorce (Matt. 19:3-9). ALL angels could though, in a perfect realm, and some of THEM were the first to rebel. Quite at odds with what Romans 1:20 implies. And I didn't see any 'minimizing' in much of the Inquisition, or Thirty Years War, either. They are taught, & raised by TV & it’s really heartbreaking... I’ve not commonly sat down & watched more than 10+ hours of TV per week in I’d say over 6-7 years now, & I don’t miss it ONE BIT!!! It’s a waste of time really, & all that doesn’t include the commercials which are a nightmare in their own right!! =P P.s. I’m curious what you ladies think of another Pastor I really enjoy (he’s more of an educator than a preacher I’d say?? He does so many debates) his name is, James White. He’s a Calvinist, which I am not... but he’s so incredibly intelligent in apologetics, & just Theology (he preaches at his Church from a Greek N.T lol) in general. In my degree I did a course on Isaiah and my professor was fluent in reading Biblical Hebrew, read/translated the passage as "I create light and I create dark(ness)" and he specified that in the Hebrew, those words were cognate with "good" and "evil." This always stood out to me and I marked it in my Bible's margins, which I have open to that passage right now. I think a tendency is for us to place God into a dualist paradigm where good and evil are two qualities a priori to God, rather than underneath him. God created two trees in Eden, one which we should not but could eat from if we chose. God creates evil, but not so it should befall or oppress us, but rather so we can choose him freely. No choice, no love/good.

OT god inflicted oppression, destruction, death and despair on people all throughout the entire OT. This is why Jesus manifest on earth. To fulfil his laws and release us from his bondage. To show us how to exit the lower consciousness of the ego and ascend to our Father in Heaven. Jesus defied the laws of the OT demiurge. 38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. 41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Jesus taught the opposite of the evil god in the OT. How do you square this?

@teph i would fall for that, except, God know everything. He is omniscient. So if He knows all, He knew his creation would rebel. And He allowed it to happen. So that implies that He knowling created evil. So the real question is why does He create things that turn evil knowing that it is what it will do. Is it possible that because only He is perfection, so He cannot create perfection? Because to do so would be to create another version of Himself?

I would suggest one reason (not the only one) for suffering is exactly the same as the man born blind - to allow the love of God to be made manifest. In other words, when someone is suffering it is our opportunity to demonstrate the love of God that is living in us by caring for the one who is suffering.

I don't why you couldn't become a Catholic. Is it because of the Church's rules? Because I think that if you don't marry or return to your (first) wife you can become one. If it's for the personal reasons ma advice is if Catholic theology is true, become one. Jesus said to pick our cross and follow Him. That's the path of self-denial and sacrifice. I like your explanation. It reminds me of something I heard in a science class, that "cold" doesn't exist, except that it is measured as the absence of heat. When you stop to look at all the polar axes the world is made with, it seems to be always the case that the "bad" one is more simply a measure of the absence of the "good" one. Hate is the absence of love. Dark is the absence of light. Etc.
@a-sheepof-christ9027
@a-sheepof-christ9027 2 года назад
Going by that example we could try and claim "ra" (the hebrew word for >evil/calamity< in Isaiah 45:7) would be "absence of Goodness" and we could then pretend that "God did not create evil, because evil is the absence of God aka true goodness". But that logic is unbiblical since God, before casting his light (Greek: Phos/literal light: the logos: jesus, the image of God) into this universe already made "the heavens" as stated by Genesis 1:1. So the assessment that "God did not actively create evil" makes no sense when looking at 1) biblical exegesis/theology and 2) actual greek words. God did create evil to turn it to Good (Gensis 50:20; water to whine:John 2:1-11; true wedding feast: Revelation 19:6-9). Read Romans 9:20 and Ephesians 1:11 on predestination and 1 John 2:2 1 Timothy 4:10 and 1 Corinthians 15:22-28 on universal reconciliation (salvation of all).

@AD-en5dq
@AD-en5dq 5 лет назад
@@toddfordr8218 your conclusion doesn't follow; what follows evil is the absence of Good is since God is axiomatically good to go against or act without the good is to separate yourself from God. effectively the words evil is not real did not come from me you presumed that incorrectly; we both know cold is felt just like darkness is seen so the more accurate conclusion is to say that the Evil is done with intent against the good meaning you must deliberately act against good. you see we all know what good is we have a conscience "the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another" that is to say we should intuitively know not to kill one another so to act against our conscience is to be evil the absence or ignoring of Good
@toddfordr8218
@toddfordr8218 5 лет назад
@@AD-en5dq the argument is whether evil is an absence of good, and not an opposite of good. If goodness is an action, then evil is an action. If evil is just the absence of good then it can not be an action. We are very much taught right from wrong. Indian boys were not considered Braves until they had killed an enemy. Their conscience wasn't taught that killing was bad. That's just cultures determining right from wrong. Darkness is an absence of light. I cant block the light with darkness. I cant turn on the dark. I can only turn off the light. I'm saying evil can be turned on just like good can. Therefore it cant be merely an absence of good. Sorry about the sarcasm in my previous statement, I hope this statement is more coherent.
@AD-en5dq
@AD-en5dq 5 лет назад
@@toddfordr8218 here is the thing this isn't my argument. yes society teaches you things but in your heart your conscience that isn't taught its deeper than that; thats why I think saying your conscience wasn't taught is a contradictions of terms. what I am saying is we as humans prefer doing things that are wrong yes they are actions but in my view the actions that are evil are for lack of a better term nature and the understanding of good in our hearts is the spirits nurture my personal opinion on this subject is as such once we decided to seize autonomy from God knowing Good and Evil we started to define these concepts which I believe are part of reality not imposed by society tho society colors it... Romans 2:14-15 "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them," that is to say regardless of these societal beliefs our hearts have that understanding already but we I guess for lack of better terms intellectually choose evil... So to be evil is to act as there is no good when in truth there is Only good because there is Only God so I suppose to better define my previous statement God is Good and God is everything so to do Evil or to have evil happen you must reject good although good is all there is
@toddfordr8218
@toddfordr8218 5 лет назад
@@AD-en5dq if these things were so clearly written on the hearts of man, we would have no need for books from which to quote. Kids repeat bad words not knowing they are bad and they are scolded for it. A child who is not scolded for it will not know it's bad. We use emotion to teach our children. We reward good behavior and punish the bad. Yes we have a conscience, but it's sculpted by the reactions of our families and society to our behaviors from conception. We are given rules and laws by culture and religions and taught that following the laws are good. When we send out men to war they come home heroes whether they killed or not. Its not the act that makes the sin but how that act is interpreted. To kill in defense of ones family or nation or ideology is not considered murder. However if a soldier was taught that killing was a sin his conscience will be effected if he does it.

Whenever we think we understand some of this in our path for enlightenment, something comes across and it turns out that one word means a complete different thing and curves the meaning of a whole passage completely! Do we need to be experts in Aramaic, Old Greek etc to have the real thing? Ask any orthodox jew if god created evil.. they will tell you yes, He did. The problem here is that in Christianity if God created evil, it will destroy the entire framework of their religion. That is why you have to explain Isaiah 45 away. It's funny that jews wrote the scripture but christians tell jews they don't know what they are talking about. I think christians don't understand the old testament at all and have to work really hard to twist up parts of it to make their theology work in the first place. This is exactly what the gospel writers did and what paul did. to the point that the old testament was virtually twisted into just a shadow supporting jesus and Christian theology. If the assertion is that jesus was the messiah and son of God, you then take that assumption, work backwards from it, move into the old testament and say that certain things there prove their claim. It doesn't work, which is why jews did not accept jesus in the first place. Today, messianic jews are basically evangelical christians, trying to keep the law, implement christian theology and change their own old testament to make it work. As a jew, this video does not work. It is just saying to not trust the king james translation because evil was not what was meant. Other evangelicals who are king james only explains the passage away in a different way. The point is, if God created evil, christianity does not work . If God created evil, satan is not a fallen angel, there is not doctrine of original sin and there is no need for a savior.

If you get drowned, God allowed it. If you get killed in war, God allows it. If your parent go madd and kill you, God allowed it. See where this is going? God gives us free will and then says choose good. But HE PUT THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL in front of Adam. HE tempted him. The serpent comes later. Why would God put the tree there in the first place if he KNEW adam would sin? Then his plan is to sacrifice his own son when adam takes the bait and sins. What kind of nonsense plan is that ? The Bible either is preserved supernaturally or it isn't. These things are spiritually discerned, not intellectually derived. If the Bible says clearly "God created evil", I'll just take that on its face and trust that God knows what He's doing.

I agree with you in part, we have to take on its face. But it's exactly how he showed in the video, the original word in Hebrew has several meanings, among calamity, disaster, and evil (not necessarily moral evil) If you just take it to its face without investigating you can just assume "Well, if God created what evil, so moral evil is his creation too, right?" Of course not.

Evil is not the opposite of good; God has no opposing equal. Evil is the absence of good; satan is a creation with the absence of God. Satan will never be equal to God, only lacking in Him. Powerful revelation! I was thinking about how scientifically, cold is the absence of heat and dark is the absence of light. Then this poured out and I realized that the answer to any problem is always Jesus; a problem is the absence of the presence of God. There is no other answer that is so absolute. 11.30pm 6th May 2019

@@rightdoctrine3922 there are 7 archangels listed in the bible. Satan was not one of them. In fact the bible is unclear to the origins of Satan. Most passages people use to describe Satan were actually referencing specific rulers such as the Babylonians. The idea that God made only perfect beings and despite their perfection they become evil without given the ability to do so by God isn't good enough. If he created Satan and Satan is Evil, then it doesn't matter how he became evil. If God is perfect then evil is part of that perfection. The laws of Nature have animals killing babies and the old or injured. Males kill their own for the right to mate, or force the females to breed. We dont see evil in that, just survival of the fittest. Good and evil are social constructs for men to live by in societies. A right and wrong way to behave with one another.

@@been1734 ...then He is not all present. Either God is all present with no exception, or God is NOT all-present. God cannot be all-present, but absent anywhere. Unfortunately to say... that's not how logic works. Christians can't say that logic is on their side when they're the ones that state logical contradictions as fact to help support their beliefs. If their beliefs were true, they wouldn't need to state logical contradictions in order to support their beliefs, but just logical facts. If God is all-present, then this BS of "God's love is absent in Hell" is true: God is absent in Hell (God's Love is His Essence, so how could God be somewhere without His Love? That's like you saying that you can be somewhere without your soul being there). If God is not present in Hell, then God is not all-present. The only way you can still claim for God to be all-present is to denounce the existence of Hell (How can God be somewhere the doesn't exist in the first place?). So, in another words, you have to give up the belief of Hell in order to also believe in the all-presence of God. The only other option at this point is to believe that there is a Hell, but God's Love and presence is still there, which means that Hell exists out of God's love... ...and for those who believe that are the most evil people I know. They're basically stating that God Loves the fact that people are in Hell... and I cannot worship a God who Loves the fact that people are in Hell. So, choose your deity: God - Not all present, All-loving / Hell exists God - All present, All-loving / Hell does not exist God - All present, not all-loving / Hell exists. ...This, in the philosophy world, is what we call... logic.

Just want to say that I love the way you describe evil as the "absence of", because I have always read this verse and others like it in the sense of God "formed" the light, which in turn created darkness. God makes peace, which in turn created it's opposite. Because to have or to know light, you must have once known darkness, and because God is a just God there has to be balance. And as a Christian one of the best things about God is that He works ALL things even the evil things for the good of those who Love Him.

God is Omnipotent and completely pure. Yes. Let me answer simply so you will understand. If a Father and Mother have a child. If that child grows through a normal, mildly traumatic life like most humans. If that child chooses to kill someone or any other evil things on some random day because they have free will. Are the parents too blame? And should the parents serve time in prison for act done by there child? God is completely righteous, he punished humans by allowing humans to commit evil atrocities to each other. Because our hearts are selfish and we don’t love each other as our selves. He had a plan to redeem those that see the evil in the human heart and would rather choose God over self willed emotions through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law that no man could because of there selfish lusts. He was scarified by envying humans on a tree/cross. If we choose to believe the Gospel and Jesus Christ. God said Jesus Christ covers us in his perfect sacrifice. God no longer sees our sinful nature but he sees Jesus Christ in us. When we believe we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and promised resurrection on the Day of Judgment. Why is there a day of Judgment? For the most wicked people and creatures. If Hitler after killing however million people shot himself. Is that fair judgment? He gets to skip out on being punished for his atrocities? That’s is why God has reserved judgment. God will judge every evil act with true and proper judgment.

The KJ says in John 16:16 ," A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father." The NIV same verse same text says," In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.' ( it does not state that Jesus went to his Father.) Is Jesus the Son of God? In the KJ in acts 8:37 it says," And Philip said, If thou believes with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The NIV deleted the entire verse denying that Jesus is the Son of God How do we have redemption? The KJ says in Col 1:14 " In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" The NIV same ch same verse says," In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." ( They removed," through his blood.) In whpm are we a new creature? The KJ in Gal 6:15 says," For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature." The NIV same verse same chapter says," Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation." ( they removed the first part of the verse) On who's name shall we believe? In KJ 1John 5:13 it says," and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." The NIV same ch same verse was deleted. This is all a deliberate attempt to deny the Son of God. What I showed you is only a few things among many found. I can keep going if you like but I urge you to look into this for yourself. (You to Mike) The original KJ is God inspired, without one flaw or contradiction. Rightly dividing the word and comparisons have proven that. All other new translations are of the New World. I need to look at it again but I do remember having the same question in looking into it and remember what I found was basically that it's not a direct teaching on how to find the will of God but rather kind of how the pagans would do it and how we're not supposed to go about it. While still understanding that at certain times the leaders of Israel use lots and God did use that and honor it, it wasn't like what we're supposed to do. Like when God was tested with the fleece 3 times. is that teaching that we can all take a fleece out any time you want God to confirm something for us? So the devil tormented Job killing his children's, causing all sorts of unpleasant thing to happen, etc... all with God's say so. So Isaiah 45: 7 doesn't say he created evil as in sin or evil thoughts, but the bible clearly shows God allowing bad people to be blessed (natural resources, genetics, good looks, money, natural talent and smarts) and good people to suffer.
