What I find pretty remarkable with RTJ transitioning into his new ride and team, he had ran 5 different classes and a few different tracks in a matter of few days. The fact he’s been able to do all that and still look like RTJ with and still contend for wins with the new team is something else.
Looked like good hard racing . You know you are winning and doing well when they are booing you. Plus Hudson won in Ricky’s area full of his fans. Good racing!!
Hudson really showed his low class in lying about discussions with Todd and SSI in that Flo Racing interview. Should have just shut up rather than saying "Todd called me Sunday night" ,when Todd himself said it had been in the works for some time and had conversations with Hudson a for weeks prior to RTJ getting the boot. I get it, its racing and shit happens. It's also slimy and dishonest. Most of Dirt Track racings fanbase aint about that life. On the flip side The Koehler family and Jimmy seem like a really great fit for RTJ. They are very family oriented. I hope Ricky the best, he's shown now numerous times he's a true wheelman.
Man, people are so quick to forget that it was these same two last year dominating and running 1-2 consistently. At the end of the day it’s still all about money and Hudson brings more to the table with him, along with the corporate sponsorship opportunities that will come with him.
I just want to see some good racing. Life is full of change. That includes LM racing. Also, It takes a fair amount of money to go testing. I’m watching the Doty tonight. Great show!
Just my personal take on it but I have never liked Hudson. Everyone is free to speculate but it sounds like behind the scenes Hudson and SSI were having discussions which led to the rug being pulled out from under RTJ. Yes, they are professionals and it’s a business but it still doesn’t sit well with me. Wishing RTJ the best of luck and hope the boo’s continue for Hudson. That’s my 2 cents.
Justin! The way I see the O’Neal vs RTJ ordeal is like this. Your wife’s best friend has been cheating on her husband and everyone knows. Then they get divorced and you finally meet the dude that she’s been cheating with. You resent that guy for a while bc he’s the reason that they got divorced … maybe I’m off but that’s why I feel like O’Neal is the bad guy. Hes the guy that she’s been cheating with and RTJ is the husband that got screwed over. lol..
It was so wrong what they did to RTJ if it was end of season I’d understand but having over a 200 point lead the firing him so evil , definitely not a Hudson fan and now even less now ! Wasn’t a RTJ fan but feel bad for all he’s done and to get kicked like that , sad !
Uhhh Hudson is gonna get Boo's for stealing RTJ's ride from him with no doubt a big bag of $. But RTJ has seem to found a good ride with his new team already battling for the lead in a Lucas race against his old car! Don't believe the fans are too happy about Hudson's driving this car/team.
@@rstott24 You know Hudson started the deal by bringing $, why would SSI terminate a winning drivers such as RTJ if $ wasn't involved & planned before RTJ was told he was out? Hudson's new ride already had his new wrap when he debuted it 2 races ago, RTJ was driving one of Koehler sons cars with their sons #114 wrap with RTJ's #20 over the #114.
@@casey6518 Maybe so. I don't put much stock in the wrap being ready. RTJ was blindsided, so SSI obviously had some next step in mind. And it's not unreasonable that SSI and Huddy would have been talking behind RTJs back to know for sure he'd say yes. I don't follow why it's surely Huddy who made the first move with SSI or is to blame. Could be the missing link as to why it makes no sense for RTJ to get fired I suppose.
@@rstott24 Ok, but it's strange they had a new & correct sponsor wrap with #71 on it for his 1st race, RTJ is on what his 2rd or 3rd race now in a Koehler car & still running one Koehler's sons race cars with a #20rt on top of the #114. Not to mention when he drove the Steve Sheppard Jr's car within a couple or so days after losing the SSI ride. No. the O'Neal deal seems to have been planned weeks or so in advance of when it actually happened!
I don't think anybody has forgotten about Huds accomplishments in the Rocket house car .That said you should remember Huds accomplishments in the SSI car are using Ricky's book .
@@Trackratz-zl9di, This is the same Ricky that can't win when it matters most. It's easy to discount Hudson and his ability when comparing, but Hudson has won when it matters most and Ricky has not.
Just becoming more of a Late Model fan the last couple of years. I'm a long time Big Block Modified & PA Sprint Car fan. I think Hudson O'Neal is a spoiled child, and he weaseled his way into RTJ's ride. I lost any respect I had for Hudson and his car owner.
I personally think O’Neil is a Wheelman! RTJ is an outsider to me in DLM… not saying he is not welcome, just saying DLMs isn’t his first love like mine and many many others I know deep into the sport.
As a former Hudson fan yes he is the villain and last night he was racing DIRTY!!! He left Rocket knowing taking over SSI was coming and last night wrecking lapped cars into Ricky. Meanwhile Ricky had many opportunities to spin Huddy and actually backed off and slammed his breaks to avoid Hudson and I can respect that even though Huddy didnt show the same respect
@@Random_Atom420 yeah I'm not really sure what race you watched but definitely didn't see him take out a lapped car and as far as RTJ comments afterwards he has no room from all the cars he's bashed into !

And a beautiful sounding flute indeed. The only reason ONeal won the championship was because of the ridiculous system. RTJ had by far the best year of anyone.

RTJ ran Hudson very clean he had several chances to take him out raddle him etc RTJ kept his cool a real class act as time goes on huddy will phase out he does not have the skill rtj has
I think Hudson's interviews and driving lately has changed the way a lot of fans view him. He's throwing blocks and seems like he's too toeing through what he says .
The reaction to Huddy was NOT nice last night. There was no line for him at all in the pits after the races. There's room to like both drivers, but seeing people pick sides is definitely entertaining. Speaking of trophies, last night's trophy was an actual safe. I didn't quite see it the best but I find that interesting to point out.
He didn’t. The public is sad and pathetic. They take the VERY little information they have combined with other bias and formulate goofy, irrational and irrelevant opinions. They don’t even know whom initiated all this or why. Half Witt opinions by naive people. We see this often with race fans at the cup level when KB over valued his own self worth and demanded a dangerously impossible salary. Fans created a delusion that it was JGR’s fault. Huddy doesn’t have the genetics or the personality to accommodate the “bad guy” narrative. People also turned on Bloomquist when he simply stated a fact that Ricky (like all drivers) make plenty of mistakes and that the car was part of the equation. This was all true but the public heard an entirely different story and fabricated a false narrative. Huddy proved that part of the performance was a result of the team advantage. However not much as RTJ was part of that team and fully aware of what they had been doing and applied that knowledge to his current program. Most fans have no idea what went down and a majority of them don’t realize how close huddy was with the team owners. They would likely have made the same decision and would be moronic not to. The good thing is that it may have made the racing more interesting and both drivers seem to be doing just fine where they are.
Well he came in a stole a guys ride with money. Its not surprising people hate him. On top of that him more then likely running the car how RTJ had it set up and RTJ has a new car to figure out. Its kinda a bitch move. But hey Oneal is known for bitch moves already.
@@Trackratz-zl9di I have doubts Owens drives a car that somebody else pays the bills on, he’s expendable. Don’t see many car owners with two cars, especially when they are different chassis. One will be eliminated. Will you think the same of RTJ because he pushed Owens out of his job.
You’re talking as if Huddy has never proven himself. The kid went out and out-dueled Superman at Eldora by beating him at his own game. I’m sorry, but Huddy is very talented. I get folks not liking this deal with SSI and RTJ. I find it questionable myself. But acting like Huddy has no talent is ludicrous.
