1) It might be the void, but they never said and you can see the other Universes from there. The void was meant to be utter nothingness, from recollection. 2) I don't think it was Pete's world, as that was another reality, not another Universe. Multiple realities could exist inside one Universe, I'd assume. Personally, if we get to see the other Universe, I'd like it to be completely different from anything we have seen before. Having watched most of classic who, I can say that the "timelords being evil and playing God with the little planets" is definitely a new invention of new who. Yes they were always pretentious pricks, but that was more just that they were like the British aristocracy and had a high opinion of themselves and their pageantry. If anything though they actually had a non interference directive like startrek and got pissed at the doctor for interfering with history and underdeveloped species. When they finally stepped in to punish the doctor it was because of his time meddling.

Yep. The Second Doctor was literally put on trial by the Time Lords for stealing a TARDIS and breaking their "non-interference" rule. As you say, the Time Lords were presented as being a bit like the British Aristocracy: they freely broke their own non-interference rule when they decided it was justified but didn't tolerate unauthorised meddling by renegade Time Lords. iirc, the First Doctor took a dim view of "time-meddling" by other renegade Time Lords, so I guess you could say he wasn't all that different to the Time Lords himself, i.e. judging his own meddling to be 100% justified and for the greater good, but taking it upon himself to thwart and punish other renegade Time Lords who he caught time-meddling for more selfish reasons.

So the universe is being destroyed as a result of a organization that "oversees" the universe, and there reason for doing so is the Doctor's general existance. The Doctor has been removed from the situation in order to prevent them from saving the universe and the last thing in the universe to be destroyed is earth. The only difference between this and the Pandorica opens is that the "ending the universe" was an accidental consequence of the Silence's actual goal and the Doctor getting locked up so he can't save the universe was a decision made by the alliance with the misinformation that the Doctor was who blew up his Tardis. Honestly it wouldn't suprise me if the episode ended with the Doctor reversing the flux and getting stranded on Divison outside the universe the same way 11 was trapped outside the unuverse on the other side of the crack. Me saying the Divison and Paple Mainframe are similar as organizations that oversee the universe might be stretching it a little, but the similarities feel way too numerous either way.

This is legitimately one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who I've ever seen, and I've seen them all since 2005. (I don't do Classic Era stuff, I know there's a LOT there worse than this, I've seen Time and the Rani...) Chibnall's trademark location hopping was particularly irritating, the Ood was written in a way that didn't feel like an Ood at all, Tecteun being killed off felt anticlimactic and a bit rushed, the UNIT being established stuff wasn't that great (Although I could see potential), The Grand Serpent being the main villain feels like if Professor Lazarus suddenly became the main villain in the finale of Series 3 (Yes, The Master used his tech, but that was The Master's idea, not Lazarus') and the "Ooh, a reference to The War Machines!" was VERY much "The Worst of the Steven Moffattisms" popping up again. This isn't even getting into my dislike of the series plotline overall, but that's a problem with me, not the show, I can't hold that against it. At least the hermit was good. A bit out of place, but it got me to crack a smile. A great actor can do wonders for an alright character. It was also nice seeing Kate Stewart again.

If only he would realize his other colossal mistake and retcon the Timeless Child. He really could have his cake and eat it, too, by saying the Doctor unknowingly found herself in an alternate universe where many things are the same (Time Lords, Weeping Angels, UNIT, Daleks all existing), but this universe's version of the Doctor has quite a different history and our Doctor is being mistaken for this universe's version, wherever that Doctor may be, whether currently Ruth or another regeneration. So Chibs could keep the Timeless Child stuff canon while making the fans happy because he didn't really reveal our Doctor's secret backstory after all and William Hartnell is still the First Doctor. Or this era is all a simulation to punish the Doctor or get info out of her by some mysterious enemy, which would also work to make sense out of the one-dimensional, NPC-like companions and explain why the Master's arc went out the window, while all these crazy revelations could be to confuse and manipulate the Doctor with lies. Too bad that neither twist will probably happen. Will RTD be able to fix the show?

I just find it funny that Dan yaz and Jericho just run around doing pointless tasks that are just there to take up screen time until the plot just accidentally walks into their boat. Although I do like that it's Dan who recognises who the tunnel man is

My issue with the Dan, Yaz, Jericho sub plot is that, if my guess is correct they’re going to use a tunnel to get back to present day. Making their whole Grand Tour in 1904, and the message to Karvanista, pointless. Also, I suspect Vinder meant to be absorbed by Passenger. How he knew they’d absorb him and not just kill him is anyones guess. There was an obviously ADR line Vinder delivers back with the Mori. He tells Dan he will save Diane from Passenger. Again. How he knew he could, is anyones guess.

@MeredithDomzalski

What is ADR?
@lachieechoecho
@lachieechoecho 2 года назад
@@MeredithDomzalski ADR is Automated (or more correctly Additional) Dialogue Replacement. It’s when the actors come back after filming to re-record their lines for many reasons. Windy on set, or other background noise, microphones couldn’t get close or else would be in shot etc. Sometimes though it’s because the director wants a different performance than what was originally delivered or, they realise some important information needs to be said, but they never filmed it during production. Now you know you’ll see it everywhere! 😂 If you hear a character say something, but don’t actually see them deliver the line, it’s a good chance it’s ADR.

I really didn't think that Chibbers would pick up the Timeless Child torch again based on how much of a backlash it received. I was hoping that we wouldn't and it would be retconned at a later time. This is looking unlikely as he is embedding more into the cannon and I assume that there will be more to come in the next episode and the few episodes next year

The bit I didn't get is that this ignores the previously established multiverse of Doctor Who. It was said every decision made a parallel universe, an infinite number with the void in between. Well first she doesnt call their location the void. And second, the way they talk about these 2 universes, even the way that they look, they are so different from one an other. But what if they are identical in everyday except for one minor decision from like a nobody. It would have made a bit more sense and with higher stakes of it was actually between multiverses that they were travelling.

The seer, see er or however it’s spelt IMO is the funniest thing I’ve seen in doctor who for a long time, totally unexpected and just so funny 😂 the rest of it though is very mish mash and put together just like every other episode, village of the angels is probably the least interrupted but even then we had Bel popping in, either way this is better than any Doctor who we’ve had while Jodie is the Doctor, loving the reviews and keep up the great work 👌

So, let me try to make sense of this... Tektayoun - don't care about spelling - a Gallifreyan from universe A currently being destroyed to make way for universe B, is actually an agent of universe B who found the Doctor who was from universe B with ability to regenerate which Tekatyoun retro-engineered giving it to the Gallifreyan making them Time Lords who very likely would have stopped universe B from taking over universe A if they hadn't all been wiped out by chance by the Master. ... ...

The idea that our universe being destroyed and earth moving to the new universe is a rather brilliant idea for Doctor Who to explore new ideas and species. Bad Wolf studios has that His Dark Materials show with a similar idea of alternative universes. RTD could explore these ideas but execution is key.

Stack of Chekhov's guns. Chris, you almost made it, you could have realized an interesting idea. But I got the impression that every time there was an interesting and original turn in the story, someone turned on the panic in the style of "Stop stop stop! What are you doing?! There should be a cliché number 1,2,3,4 here ... ". And so with everything. Stack of Chekhov's guns, which not only failed to fire, but were hastily removed from the wall. All new and original concepts end either in a dead end, or a cliché, or a stupid joke. This is especially true for the ending. As a result, not a single storyline was brought to an end and not disclosed. As if this story with, without jokes, a catastrophic event of the level of almost the Time War - did not leave any consequences at all. It didn't affect the characters, or even the UNIVERSE. The cataclysm is shown in passing, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Doctor doesn't even try to fix the damage - the flow will just be "forgotten". Damn you Chris.

Then she wakes up, remembers he's a liar, and seeks verification....from a woman who freely confesses to killing and torturing a child.... It's like inviting Rose West to testify before the Privileges Committee investigating Boris Johnson's lies....

While I have a hard time believing that the 3 companions did ALL that world travel in one year, I believe the financing would be quite simple. If you have a good grasp of history and important developments, I dare say some quick investments can garner you capital. Remember, they were in 1901. 3 years of research & planning for their search to solve the mystery, and that amount of time to gather funds. Do-able. Also, that 3 year period would have had them help settle the little girl, who's fate it was to stay in that place. As for Vinder & Belle, he has a bit of dialog where he notices her craft go into hyperdrive, and he notes "hmmm...hyperdrive... SOMEONE is in a hurry to get away from here. " That is the connective tissue to let you know it's the same location she just left.
