That wouldbe been fantastic drama when they all meet in Mexico 🤣.

My guess is they thought Marshall wouldn't make too much drama out of it and just be "Okay then. I'm out." Kwame's obsession with Micah was much better drama, as was Irina's complete lack of enthusiasm for Zack. And they need at least one "solid bet" so they can't ditch people like Brett & Tiffany.

Totally agree! There is also a large Asian community im Seattle, and I wish they had more representation in the Seattle season. I truly think that most of the couples would probably go farther if they stay on the show. Non the less, it would have been interesting.

@@Kaivijs Probably cost cutting. Each couple requires a minimum of two full time camera/production crews to run split shifts over the course of a filming day.

It doesn’t really have anything to do with that though. They cut these couples because they didn’t work out very early on and there just wasn’t enough screen time.

@@skeliskull no, they only pick 5 or 6. We found that out after Season 1, that two couples were just told "Thanks for coming, good luck" and only took the 6 couples to Mexico. Poor Rory, the Pod Therapist got left behind like that.

I been saying since season 1 that we need more episodes at the beginning of the show. It’s like they meet one second and is engaged the next. We don’t get to see anything develop

@ M Fuentes. I agree the viewers need to see more of what happens in the pods. The editing seems excessive to the point that relevant context was lost. That is why we knew basically nothing about Josh even though he ended up on the Finale. Excessive editing means the viewer actually doesn’t have vital information. I think posting footage on a site for interested viewers like the show Big Brother does might eliminate this issue.

If the producers don’t see you emotionally, connecting with anyone, they will axe you off the show. So many people that weren’t featured have been disappeared.

“Love is Bland” sounds like a great parody version of the show.

It’s probably a budget thing because netflix pays for a lot of the wedding expenses. And of course other expenses like the time in Mexico and an apartment in the city afterwards. They could probably still afford it, but maybe it would have been too much to keep up with in the show if there are too many couples

I heard that they cannot end the engagement without producer permission and that if they do not go to the alter they pay a fine. Cannot remember which podcast said this but I'm assuming if they end it early then they get no publicity.

They don’t give up their lives, that’s so dramatic. They chose to go on a reality show

In the 3 past seasons they’ve never shown the Black bridesmaids walking down the aisle. Every single wedding where there were Black bridesmaids they were only shown seated in the audience. Every wedding with White bridesmaids they’ve shown them walking down the aisle. (Except Amber’s from season 1. She had Black and White bridesmaids and they didn’t show them walking down the aisle.) After the 3rd season I sent a direct message to @chriscoelen complaining about how unfair it was. So this year I couldn’t wait to see Tiffany’s bridesmaids walk down the aisle. They were only shown in the amount of time it takes to blink. So I’m not at all surprised that Asian women scenes were cut. Someone at Kinetic Connection is extremely biased towards people of color. Especially women of color.

Probably need at least 1 super chaotic person in the couple to get a ticket. Even though these relationships didn't work out, the fact that they weren't chosen for Mexico actually looks good on their character.

I think it also has to do with the show’s budget.

Like everyone in a love triangle gets engaged of course you would want to see how that plays out when they meet every other in person for the first time in Mexico. I still think they should show all engaged couples because those people gave up their lives to be on the show

I feel like it's all about the drama/story. They need at least one couple they're sure will work out, this season that was Brett & Tiffany. Then they have the love triangle drama with Kwami & Micha, so both those couples got selected. I'm assuming Irina & Zack were picked because of Irina's connection with Micha plus drama. Marshall & Jackie though, I'm not sure. If Josh & his engagement had worked out, they'd probably have both couples for another love triangle situation. Makes me wonder if Zack & Irina would've been cut in that case. Also, if Zack had gotten engaged with Bliss would the show have cut them instead, maybe air Wendi & Jimmy instead? Back to Marshall & Jackie lol, maybe they were a safety couple like Brett & Tiff, maybe producers could tell this relationship would crash and burn on tv, maybe Marshall's connection with Brett, or maybe it's because of the Irina Micha laughing while she was crying scene, maybe they wanted another POC relationship and that's why they were selected? Heck maybe producers knew Josh was also getting engaged and they jumped the shark and told Jackie & Marshall they were picked only to find out later that Josh & Monica weren't going through w the engagement. These are just my baseless assumptions though lol.

They probably pick at least 2-3 couples that they think will end up getting married as that determines the success of the experiment and then 2 couples that will cause drama to keep the show entertaining. I can completely see why they chose irina and Micah. Irina because we all wanted to see what happens after the proposal as everyone knew zach chose wrong, and Micah for the love triangle with Kwame. Jackie’s story arc was probably unexpected to the producers.
