I love it. 18k is steep. Considering say a Rootbeer or a Rolesor Daytona but ... this is a beauty. In a year, 15k on secondary for new w box and papers I'd say.

"Swiss Watches Direct" from the UK will knock of 20% of the price of any Omega. Used them previously when i lived in KL. These two tones will be a steal in a few months.

Bruce I prefer the Sedna gold with black sub dials. $15-$16k would have made more sense. However give it few months might be able to pick up new around 20% off msrp. 🤔

If you're into vintage watches, I have good news for you: Omega issued several Speedmasters like that in the mid- to late 80ies. There was a Speedmaster Special Italy (DD 145.0022‑2) and a Speedmaster Reduced (DA 175.00.33), both with a black dial and gold subdials, a Speedmaster Reduced with a gold dial and gold subdials (DA 175.0032) as well as a Speedmaster Professional (DD 145.022) with a gold dial and white subdials. Despite their age I have seen some of them in pretty good condition on chrono24.

Great review as always Bruce. I agree with everything you said on this one and I think it’s a beautiful watch. I would buy this one over a lot of versions on the Speedy. The price is the only part that is hard to swallow. I would have expected somewhere between 12-15 but 18 seems a bit greedy.

I'm not sold on the dial, and the ceramic bezel will take a while to get used to, but that bracelet is magnificent. It looks like it was designed to become 2-tone.

I love this watch except I’m not sold on the bracelet. I will have to see it in person. I would have put the watch in the $15k range but gold has gone up a decent amount recently.

I personally think this Speedy is gorgeous. I don't subscribe to the idea that a "tool watches" need to eschew precious metals. At the end of the day, watches are jewelry. Us WIS' like to pretend that we're wearing a piece of gear that is made for adventure and harsh elements, but those days are over; watches are antiquated pieces of tech and we wear them because they look cool.

I think this looks really nice, although I would have preferred a lacquered dial over sunray (I’m not a fan of sunray). That being said for the price they are charging I would much rather stick to the classic speedy and still have $10k left over for another awesome watch (or several)

damn.. just bought a speedmaster '57 in twotone.. JK, i'm absolutely in love with that one.. and i bought is in 'as new' status for a fraction of what this costs. But i do admit, this one is gorgeous. I have always been a sucker for TT or full gold (have a gold zenith captain gmt as well ^^)

I think they did a good job with these overall. I like the yellow gold version best. More options to choose from is never a bad thing for a consumer.

I like it. Probably really expensive. I also like the orginal. I just wish they would have steel applied indices on the original. That would be sweet. For 10k Canadain i feel like the speedmaster getting pretty expensive for what you get. Maybe im wrong tho.

Hello again, I think the Omega bracelet pops more than the full gold Rolex Day Date bracelet. As a two tone I dare to say, the Speedy bracelet looks more luxurious than the President bracelet. The brushed and polished contrast on the Omega bracelet tops Rolex this time.

That's actually really pretty! I won't comment too much on the price since I don't really understand the materials cost involved, but I do know prices on everything have been going up, so if you're not sitting on a big stock of ingots, your cost to acquire the materials must go up. I think Rolex has probably acquired materials in advance, but can an investor-owned company do the same? In any event, those are super pretty and I would love to own one, maybe some day! :)

I think the people who downplay gold are just people who can't afford it. 'Hater' as the young people would call them. lol Although, I don't think they're completely off when they say it's a bit 'Old manish' because when I see a gold, two-tone datejust, I always think of the older men smoking and playing cards or dominoes etc. but it's a good old. It's a positive old. These people were the "Old heads" of the neighborhood, men that would just sit around and shoot the sh*t, but had endless wisdom and knowledge. I love it.

Yes they did. I don't think they'll be able to sell this watch at its retail price. Two-toned sports watches just don't work. I refer you to the highly-mocked steel and gold Explorer, a watch that even Rolex can't sell.

Lovely watch... but... is it still a 3 Hz manual movement for £18,000 If it is... thats a lot of money. I own the 9900 (Seamaster 300) & 9904 (Speedmaster Moonphase) caliber watches, 4 Hz Co-Axial movements... £18,000 buys you a lot of options

It sucks that they increases the price few thousand on popularity. I don’t think the standard issue speedy is a $8k watch. As many as they are produced. No way. There is no demand. But. Hey. If ppl want to max out some credit cards. Then go for it. But it’s a shame to see the huge price jumps last few years

I never shared the enthusiasm for the Speedmaster Professional. In my opinion it is too big and looks boring. The two-tone version you featured here is far more appealing to me, though the only Speedmaster I love is the Speedmaster 38 Orbis Edition, due to its more wearable size (38mm) and the blue dial with interesting details (bear on the seconds chronograph hand).

Here in the UK the Daytona is just £600 more, with the Rolex costing about £4500 over the steel. These are £9600 more than the steel versions, which can't be the gold. It's just greed. Given the choice, 99.99% of customers are going for the Daytona.
