My biggest problem is when I find a shoe that is waterproof, and the glue doesn't separate the sole and upper, then the sole itself wears out way too quickly and the hollow structure makes a hole in the heel. I am a heel dragger and I am in an out of my car 200+ times every morning. The shoe looks great to keep that morning dew from soaking the shoe when I walk across a lawn in the spring and summer.
@@johnspartan98Especially the voice mimicking is superb now. No need to go on 5vr and find a voice actor to impersonate someone when you can just pay to use an algorithm.
Vic Mignogna did a pretty great job. Before, I would've agreed with you 1000%, but Vic's dedication to play Kirk as Shatner would've made me change my stance. It CAN be done, but the actor can't indulge himself and make the character "his own", which is becoming distressingly common (see SNW's Pike, Kirk, and Uhura). He should study Shatner's every facial tick, walking style, speech pattern, authoritative aura, and attempt to replicate that as closely as possible. THAT would be Kirk, not Paul Wesley's laconic dudebro attempt (if you could call it that).
They can use CGI on an actors face they what they did with Admiral Tarkin on the Rouge One film and they can use AI software like they did with James L Jones's voice in the Obi-wan Kenobi series. I think that's the only way to get James T Kirk back.
William Shatner is 92, he's sharp as a tack, he still loves Star Trek...and we love him. So bring him back in some way or another before it's too late. Because if you don't we will all regret it...when he finally does go where no one has gone before. Terry Matalas you have done so much to bring back the Star Trek we have all been missing. Please give the great James T Kirk a fitting send off while you're at it.
He may be 92 but he looks and acts decades younger than Picard. If he is healthy enough to be the first Trek actor to go up in space for real I think he is young enough for one last short season of TV.
@@rickfoley5596 I agree. Picard is so frail, he looks like he might not even finish this series. Shat looks 20-30 years younger than him at this point.
Captain James T. Kirk (portrayed by William Shatner) was one of my heros growing up in the 1960s. Along with James Bond (portrayed by Sean Connery), they were the two individuals I tried to emulate. Got a lot of enjoyment reading the books William Shatner wrote after Star Trek: Generations and watching his death scene in that movie always makes me sad. It would definitely be great to see him (once more time) grace the silver screen (either in TV or movie) and bring his character back to life for all us loyal and faithful Trekkers. The remake of the Star Trek movies with Chris Pine playing Captain Kirk are ok, but cannot touch the Original Series Captain Kirk portrayed by William Shatner.
The Abrams reboot destroyed the franchise for me. Shatner's character would only be diminished by becoming part of the disaster that is Picard. Patrick Stewart had some nasty things to say about Shatner when they appeared in the Generations movie together.
@@alantasman8273 I am so glad he didn't come back under kurtzman version of Star Trek. I wish I could have found my statement from when STD first came out. In it I said that nobody is going to watch this cause they are alienating the the existing fan base. Trying to get a younger audience but I watched Star Trek with my parents and my kids watched TNG with me. And when we tried to watch STD we stopped after 4 episodes it was just that bad.
The main point is you need to bring back Kirk while Shatner is still alive, the original Kirk. I know how it goes, if Shatner would pass away they world regret not bringing him back one more time.
'There's no time like the present,' as the saying goes. My guess is that the mystery legacy character still to appear in PICARD Season three will be either Kirk or Sisko. I'd be happy to see either one, but think Kirk would be the even greater surprise plus they've already dropped a Vulcan eyebrow-raising 'hint' for it to be Kirk.
You can still bring back Kirk Spock McCoy Scotty Sulu even if they're not here. Just use CGI to put their face and it looks even better than the original actors. That's what they did to Luke Skywalker.
@@jonfreeman9682 Yes I Know they can do that, not as good as the original. IF they wanted to CGI him to make him look younger I would be okay with that as long as they use his voice.
While I think it's unlikely to happen, a Shatner cameo similar to the Luke Skywalker moment in Mando Season 2 would be an awesome crescendo on what I believe is the final adventure of the 90s era Trek characters.
I don't watch Star Trek Picard. I don't think that. There be no Cameo it'll probably just be something stupid they would have William shatner as a Cameo
I thought it was appropriate. In Saving Private Ryan Tom Hanks Captain Miller character just ran out of luck. He died as a hero but reality is what it is.
Kirk's death in Generations was a cheap way to die." Captain Kirk dies in freak accident as make shift bridge takes him to his death." 24th century headline.
It was a stupid way to kill him off. The entire script of Generations felt like it was written by a couple of dim witted sophomores. Kirk’s rock sled death was just the greatest of many inanities in that awful movie.
I expected Kirk to return with Picard, but that would have defeated the idea of Picard learning a thing or two from a living legend like Kirk. Kirk's death after doing a heroic thing helped push Picard forward.
I want to see at least a cameo of Shatner to make up for that derp death under a bridge and trainwreck movie Generations. And I don't want these other shows to water down his legacy by recasting him. It's not like Batman or James Bond. Shatner is the one, the only, Captain James T. Kirk.
Kirk is greatest captain in the history of the federation. He was a warrior! He deserved a legacy...and lineage which the terrible generations deprived him off. Children and legacy...but the they can give snw kirk the opportunity to play kirk by somehow de ageing him and commanding a new generation.
Read the Book Generations see the Movie we should have got... Sadly and fairly DeForest who was ill wanted to go out on 6 as was a great role for him once he said no Nimoy passed and so did Michelle & George the first half the movie was meant to be them all not a quick 10 mins and good bye to 2 of them... The Death was stupid BUT not the end of Kirk...
“Don't let them promote you, don't let them transfer you, don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there, you can make a difference. -James T Kirk
When it comes to Trek, Kirk and Spock are the legendary characters, which is why they keep coming back. If Matalis has opened the door to the possibility of another appearance, it's going to be hard not to walk through that door in some form. I would love to see Stewart and Shatner together again, perhaps finally bringing down Section 31 for good - that would be a great moment, with Spock perhaps adding the final assistance with Riker.
It would be super cool if they can bring Kirk Spock McCoy Scotty Sulu the whole gang back. It would be an epic conclusion to the two greatest Star Trek shows of all time.
I would just be happy with a de-aged Shatner making an appearance in a couple of episodes to give the character a chance to ride off into the sunset like he should of been allowed to originally. In Generations, they destroyed the perfectly good ending he recieved in Undiscovered Country, now this is easter egg seems too big to not do something with it, i really hope they are able to pay it off as they just raised the bar and now everyone is expecting something...
Can't see enough of Shatner. We don't care if he is 92, he has still got it and will be well received. Someone please work with him while we still got him.
YEAS!! Bring him back and make him his usual larger then life self. We want a full on James T. Kirk. I was undecided until I read comments about regret if we dont get a little something. I completely agree and it needs to be Fantastic! Its a good thing Mr. Shatner brings larger then life and fantastic with him where ever he goes. Piece of cake folks.
I've ALWAYS Known that Cpt. Kirk did not die on Viridian 3, for Kirk himself said in "The Final Frontier" "I've always known I'll die alone." He was not alone in Veridian 3
William Shatner coming back for a lengthy cameo is not only Awesome its respectful to Shatner and many many fans as well as the film! I along with many others hope he comes back! The writers and producers have an enormous opportunity here I believe to honor the storyline, actors and fans and hopefully they will.
I think, since he’s 92 they might bring him back for a short scene, like he’s happily retired or, they can bring him as a cameo and have Picard visit him virtually? Maybe? But definitely I would love to see him on the show..
There are many possibilities with this clip. William Shatner has been a hero since the original series. Was very sad when Kirk died in Generations. In the JJ verse, Pine was awesome as Kirk. I think he studied Shatner for the role. If a younger clone was to be used it would be a great crossover and bring the timeline together. Probably won't be, but just an idea. Either way a return of Kirk would be a great thing.
Shatner's book would have been FAR better than Generations as a crossover movie. It would have seen all of the OG stars back in significant rolls with a surprise, but welcome, resolution and much better hand off from OG to Next Gen.
@@solidmage1720 It's not going to happen. It was just an Easter Egg and shout out to the fans... plus it set up them having Picard's body. They had Archer in there too, and I doubt he's doing a cameo.
@@JustMe99999 except what we saw from Kirk and Picard are not the same. We know it was Picards body there and Kirk was not in the same storage. Also Kirks storage associated with whatever Project Phoenix is. IE an ongoing project.
They passed on Generations... If smart if they want Subs and money Paramount should do what WB were with Adam West make the real Gens Return and other two Kirk books into 4 cartoon movies Get anyone alive to voice themself and those we have lost an improssionist and realise them one every 6 months for 2 years
It's ironic that there's an active Genesis Torpedo just across him. So is there a radiation leak that resurrected his body but in stasis. Remember Spock got resurrected by the Genesis effect and considering that it's very near him, it's slowly healing him. Also he's already been exposed to too many things that would had made him immortal from the TOS episodes too.
Imagine that: Kirk's body, Picard's body and the genesis in the same room? Will we have the organic and the positronic Picard existing at the same time?
Sci Fi is typically incredibly STUPID. I liked Spock, but bringing him back to life after such a heroic, Tale if Two Cities death was STUPID. Getting back to the planet when he was 7 (somehow feeding himself till then), sexing up Savik, then killing time on the planet till he's aged just enough to be played by mid 1980s Nimoy. I liked ST4, but these series are silly when they bring dead people back to life.
@@STho205 So stupid! Like flip communicators, rockets that land standing up and several more impossible things. Fiction is simply theoretical imagination made real later by innovation.
Huge fan of the original series, the animated series and the movies. Haven’t watched any of these… but if they bring in Shatner I’ll be there for it! ❤❤❤
Then in yet in another dark side of the room at section 31, we have on ice Spock?, Mc Coy, Sulu Chekov and Uhura's bodies. ( it was quite a chore getting Spock's body from the Kelvin universe.) Aye, dont fir git Mr.Scott as well.
I had heard there was an alternate ending with Kirk surviving with Picard but they chose the death scene thinking it was more dramatic. Kirk is so badass Death cant keep him down. Shatner is not only alive he seems in much better shape than Stewart (no offense) and him appearing in some Trek wouldnt be out of the realm, in reality its on him, if he went to Paramount and said he wanted in, he would be in like Flynn!
No, Kirk was always intended to die. The only change to the ending was his death. The original death was in the novelization, and was they had to reshoot the death because the test audience had an overwhelmingly negative reaction to Kirk getting shot in the back and killed
they told Shatner they were going to kill kirk i he wanted to do the movie or not.. So he did it even though it was a horrible script. Even the TNG cast has said it was a bad death and bad script
No, there was an alternative death scene with SORIN shooting Kirk in the back. He was always meant to die. I think Shatner was up for it, until he played it. Then he felt guilty and regretted it.
Neglected to mention that in the text under the X Ray it states that Kirk was “critically injured” and his body was retrieved by project Phoenix. Doesn’t say he was killed so maybe he was still just about alive.
He was only "Mostly Dead. There's a difference between being mostly dead and all dead". Miracle Max in deep space. Have fun storming the Romulans Boys.
Shatner is still in good shape - he was able to briskly walk up that tall stairway to the Blue Origin capsule just recently - so I'm sure he's physically capable of it. It would be nice if they did it, the other show brought back the Guardian of Forever, why not bring back Kirk for at least a cameo?
Didn't Captain Kirk once say "I've always known, I'll die alone."? Of course, he will be back because he wasn't alone when he got hurt under the bridge!
I want Kirk back ... Before he leaves us in real life ... He started it all. He and the rest of TOS are why every other Trek spin off was made. He (all of those remaining) deserve better.
The original Genesis Device brought Spock's body back to life albeit without his katra. What if they are looking at a way to use the Genesis II Device to bring back certain legendary individuals like Kirk and Picard?
That’s really good thought! As opposed to recent new characters (mostly DSC) that were disliked, Ed Speleer’s Jack is a well-liked, charismatic, compelling character. Same with other new characters like Crash LaForge
What you missed out was it says kirks body was critically injured (not dead) meaning they repaired his body and placed him in stasis meaning he's alive in storage, plus under the name project phoenix. Phoenix is a bird that rises from the Ashes.
First and foremost,It must be said that -" The Return was an incredible novel and would have made an incredible movie. Now lets see if they can find a writer who will return Kirk to his former glory. Not a monster or an evil being. Just Capt Kirk as we know him and love him. What other actor could keep his personna alive for so long. Amazing.
I think elements of Shatner's first trilogy should be canonized. This could be done by an animated film and by having him cameo on Lower Decks. Something like having the Conspiracy Theory Guy finding some of Kirk's diary on a pad or two he found that confirms the basic plot of The Return with the Romulan-Borg plot nicknames Project Phoenix. Later on, Conspiracy Theory Guy with Mariner and the others find the still alive but dying Kirk in a stasis pod that Scotty and Dr. McCoy constructed to save him until a cure is found. At the end of the episode, we could see Section 31 taking the stasis pod.
Do you want to know why the original star trek tv series was so popular is because Williams Shatner and the other actors showed so much feeling and expression in their acting these actors are legendary
Give actual Shatner a 2 hour Kirk direct to streaming movie. How he was resurrected, and what he does after that. Doesn't need to be anything big. Just something nice, heartwarming, and befitting a great send off. It could be a simple character drama. Kirk finally gets some peace, and a nice retirement. I'd be good with that.
I actually didnt' pick up on this until I saw a snippett of this on RU-vid, so now I'm saying that it would be absolutely fantastic if Kirk made an cameo in Picard and even saved or solved the current situation in his own way and would pay hommage to Shatner himself as he just turned 92, realizing that our favorite Captain/Actor won't be with us forever.
It would be a great mistake to not at least have a walk on part for the return of Captain Kirk. No one else could perfectly play his part and the fans would love to see him again. Just something to think about doing while there is still time.
I commented on a video from Dave Cullen's channel on this same thing. I didn't like his death at the end of Generations. I did like how Kirk saves the Enterprise-B and the survivors from the Lakul. He selflessly tells John Harriman that John needs to be on the bridge of his ship and not Kirk. Kirk also fulfills a prophecy back in Star Trek V where he tells Spock and McCoy, "I've always known.....I'll die alone". In a sense he does when a band of energy from the Nexus wave tears into Deck 13 where Kirk is and sweeps him into the Nexus. That would be a fitting death for Kirk if that was somehow reworked as the ending of Generations. I'm not sure about Kirk coming back. It would be hard to recast the character since Shatner owns Kirk and Shatner is into his 90s. The closest actor to portray Kirk was Vic Mignogna in the fan short series Star Trek Continues. I'm not sure if it would be right to bring back Kirk while his closest friends Spock and McCoy are dead, as well as the rest of the bridge crew from the Enterprise. Kirk was able to save the day many times, with the help of Scotty, Spock, etc. I'm not sure how it would be without them. If Paramount/CBS wants to bring back Kirk for a cameo, they would have to have Terry Matalas and his team of writers do it. They would do it right.
Kirk is already cloned and that clone is the leader of the HyperBorg (Borg integrated with changlings). Now his mission is to use dna to create clones with superior leadership, strategic and tactical dispositions in an effort to wipe out and assimilate star fleet completely and everyone else..
i was 4 years old when we last went to the moon, I remember sneaking down stairs and watching it on an old black and white TV, as my parents slept on a cold wet night about 4 am, in a small fishing village in Cornwall UK, it was around the same time I saw my first ever colour TV through a neighbours window, and what was the first show i saw in colour... the original Star Trek!.. fingers crossed if this all goes to plan, ill be 65 when Artemes 11 launches, how far we have come, it was only yesterday to me we watched star trek the next generation and futuristic pad screens, the same things we take for granted now as i pads.
While I grew up with James T Kirk, I think his time has come. Use his DNA if needed then let him fade into greatness like all people and things do. He is still my favorite captain of all time.
I hate this death scene for so many reasons. Number 1 being that Kirk said "I've always known I'll die alone." in ST:V. I know it's nitpicky and ultimately doesn't matter but I felt that line was presented with a strong sense of foreboding and when he died with Picard, laying under a stupid metal bridge... uggg...
i dont care i kirk lives. I just want him to get the death he deserves. Kirk was always intended to go down alone, on his bridge. Holding out till the bitter end
Yes Bring Back Shatner-Kirk! They could even go the Luke Skywalker route and have an age appropriate actor/body double, deep fake his face and be voiced by Shatner. That way he would look like he did in Generations.
Always happy to see Captain Kirk in any movie, now I know about the novels and we'll be picking them up, nobody can do Kirk better than William shatner, just like nobody can do ironman better than Robert Downey Jr., So I hope they put William shatner on the big-screen one last time.
They can use Genesis to make him young again at the age when he was in the original series then give him a new crew, new enterprise and a new series. They even showed Genesis so that might be what they're gonna do.
yeah i think is was only just a nod to the Kirk era nothing more, same with seeing voyager in the episode, again just a nod to voyager. They cannot continue to keep the franchise in the pre kirk and kirk era, its been done to death, they have to move forwards with it, the Picard series should really open a few doors, with the new ship that's in this series and the new captain. Let him and his crew take the controls now, and maybe even move seven on to another ship, so someone else can be 1st officer.
I find it strange that there have been no Shatner on Trek for so long. I want to see him return. Wonderful to see Kirk on the screen in the Picard episode.
Oh yesssss!!! Am not only a DCU fan and collectionist I also loved the Star Trek series. I never like the way Kirk died, if the people responsable on doing episodes and series, with the technology we have now they can make Kirk return we only hope. 😊
I recently saw William Shatner. He is not going to play Kirk Again. But with a good doppelganger and CGI like the did for Paul Walker, it is possible that Kirk will never die. So HELL YA ! We want a new Kirk. Seven can train Jack and when Jack becomes captain in say 5 seasons, Jack can accidentally find Kirk and resurrect Kirk in the 24th century. Data can get a new Body too
There is a point that needs to be made about the kids “myself” of the 60’s that grew up on tv shows at the time. Our folks were busy working to support us and we had lots of time alone which wasn’t bad. Shows like Star Trek gave us not only guidance but hope for the future and actually taught us how to treat others with respect. They were much more important than they are given in importance to what they did for children during a decade that seemed impossible. Call them one eyed babysitters or whatever, they taught us things schools couldn’t or would not. But laughingly, I did think girls would scream at anything scary.
Surely with the CGI tech used in Mandalorian they can get Shatner and lookalike Actors and deep fake technology and create Kirk. They should have done it in strange new worlds
I’m sure I read somewhere that Shatner went through a process of recording his voice phonetically, in such a way, that we would be able to create audio that sounds exactly like him speaking. So, with good cgi, and this audio effect, this effectively makes Shanter, and his characters, able to do and say anything we want, at any age we want. Imagine never having to recast a character again! Mind you, such new performances would be extremely creepy, if an actor passes on.
As many stated, it has to be soon. Kirk will always be an icon, and many are gone from the TOS. You have fans of all eras and it a huge franchise to capitalize on. Next Generation cast is another icon stable of characters and Picard was a success. We need more, we want more!! Make it Happen, Make it So!!
Even though I love the original more then TNG. I'm still a big fan of TNG. I personally think they should let James T Kirk rest in peace. He has had its day and made his legacy.
