I swear it’s like no one watched the same thing. They prioritized other needs over Barkley where the data showed a certain value. Barkley had the transition tag last year and was able to negotiate the market and didn’t sign a similar deal. He was given the chance to negotiate the market without a tag at all this year and clearly it was just better for each side to go their separate way. It’s a win win for both sides but sucks for the fandom. Joe was straight and wasn’t okay with another transition and definitely not the exclusive tag.

I looked back at the four draft classes of Dave Gettleman - six of 35 players remain on the roster. The swings-and-misses from not just DG but also Jerry Reese was catastrophic and still Plaguing the team.

What good is a 12.5 million dollar RB if you don't have an offensive line to block for him? With the money they would have paid Barkley they signed two proven offensive lineman to upgrade the offense and traded to get a top pass rusher. This is how you build rosters. You don't throw a bunch of money to an often injured RB that is aging. He's not the last link to a Superbowl run. This team had huge holes to fill and running back is a luxury in a passing league. They bolstered their line and drafted a future pro bowl receiver in Nabers. That's how you build a team in today's NFL.

Let's keep it 💯, Joe Schoen made a mistake by putting the tag on saquon. Daniel Jones should've been the one to get the franchise tag, and saquon should've gotten the contract 2 years ago. Daniel Jones struggles reading defenses. I feel Joe Schoen has made some good moves, some others are head scratchers. Joe Schoen better hope saquon doesn't win multiple chips.

Saquon is a much improved blocker I don’t think he’s the receiver CMC Is but still above average when he’s locked in. He has an injury history and a lot of mileage and is still explosive but does look like he lost a step

Todd Gurley has been out of the league for two years and just turned 29. Ezekiel Elliott is a shell of himself, albeit serviceable, and he’s 29. Derrick Henry just turned 30 and the Titans let him walk. To Schoenes' credit, he is operating in a marketplace that was not his choosing.. Qb's are and have been overvalued and Rb's have been undervalued... My point being, he is not bucking the system.. He is using his judgment based on the market.. Its not his fault Nearly All Rb's don't make 10M per .. and All 1 Qb's are All making huge money now 40M+ per . He offers contracts based on the market... He doesn't set the market its already been determined....

Teams don’t let young healthy good offensive linemen hit free agency. So, saying that you had to spend money on two guards is complete nonsense. Pick up offensive lineman late in the draft and develop them.

As electric as Saquon is, he could never master the art of pass pro. I remember Ahmad Bradshaw came in as 7th rounder, wasn’t capable of pass pro early on but 3-4 years in he was one of the better RBs at pass protection. Saquon never got it down. On top the injuries and he’s been getting caught from behind the last few years.

Ask Recco what position other than RB should Barkley have played to reach the NFL? He could have made 4-10 times more as a QB but can he play that position? He wouldn't have made it as a Receiver. Can't tackle so he can't play defense. Maybe a Safety but he's a little too bulked up for that.

When was the last time a RB based offense won a Superbowl? Bettis with the Steelers? Davis with Denver? Few and far between and the league has changed even more since then. Schoen is taking the Giants in the right direction. Question is do we have the right QB???????????

Fact of the matter is the Giants have too many holes to afford the second highest paid RB. The Eagles can afford it so they did it. Time to move on.

40 million payment for Daniel Jones instead of drafting Tua or Herbert the next year in the draft. Botch job on who they drafted that high in the draft for a QB and a fumble in breaking the bank with Daniel Jones. When the foundation is cracked, they now can't give Saquon a small, reasonable raise. Hence they lose their best player and keep an overpaid unproven QB. Now they are stuck trying to build around Daniel Jones. Botch job. Can they be a better team the last year. Sure but this team now has a ceiling and they are not going to be a superbowl team with Daniel Jones. Their foundation is weak.
