Thats crazy ingenious to add the polymer to the steel mag so you dont have to switch out the mag release. Personally, I think PSA is giving Shield Arms a run for their money AND they can actually manufacture them in huge amounts unlike Shield. They'll sell fast if they can prove their reliability.

33 year Glock user and armorer. First, no crisis on the capacity. 10 rounds of 9mm ammo would normally be enough to deal with most threats excepting maybe multiple attackers are with hi-cap firearms. As far as the 15 round mags go, I have 12 S15 mags (all gens) on hand and never experienced a single stoppage from any of them and am part of a professional group of 10 instructors and law enforcement officers/deputies who carry the G43X/48 exclusively with S15 mags. Between us, we have now accumulated over the 100,000 round count with only a handful of ammo related stoppages far below the general stoppage criteria many depts have in place. That being noted, I readily recognize there have been issues with the S15 mags but there are a multitude of reasons these stoppages have occurred. The primary focus of mag to gun fit interfacing is of the biggest concern as I have had a number of people bring their G43X/48 pistols to me and we did find issues with function but interestingly, those mags worked flawlessly in my personal and test guns. Here is the reason why, most are unaware that the G43X/48 frames made stateside have had a lot of variances in the frame geometries which have been known to cause a slew of issues but in the case of the S15 mags, one frame may demonstrate more play between the mag and frame than others. The way Gaston Glock designed the original mags was that they would expand when fully loaded as to create a reasonably tight fit with the frame but then be easy to remove (note: the first gen mags for the original P80 and G17 were not drop free on hitting the mag release). So OEM mags are not known for having a loose fit when loaded. Hence why Gen 3 S15 mags have the added warts on the back of the mags to assure tighter fit to mitigate frame variations. As far as the PSA mags, seen a mix of luck with them but in my tests they worked fine. The key is Test Firing no matter what your gear may be.

I just commented on this... There's a gunsmith on RU-vid who mainly does ARs but he did a video on this dice his wife carries a 43x, she wanted the capacity, and he didn't wanna install a metal mag catch for the S15 mags... His video showed the PSA mag lips catch on to the slide release when being inserted into the firearm... Now as you say, since there's intentional play there, not all 43Xs will have this issue but it was really informative to see his issue and his simple fix of buffing and filing the PSA mag lips... In his video, he shows how the PSA mag would do this instead of just some subjective whining, and being a professional armorer like yourself, he goes over it step by step so normal idiots like myself can see it properly... I'm the idiot for forgetting his channel but I'm sure if you looked up "PSA micro dagger mag in Glock 43x" you'll see it... Ok I looked it up... "School of the American Rifle" is the channel

I just had two PSA 15 round mags fail in my Glock 43X. Neither mag will lock the slide back after the last round. Not my grip, not the gun. The factory Glock mags work, the Shield Arms mags with the metal mag release / catch work. I'm a PSA fan and have lots of their products and know people that run the micro Dagger 15 round mags in their Glocks with no problems. My mags seem to have a follower issue. I can put the Shield Arms spring and follower in the PSA mag and it feeds and locks back after the last round. Just sent a request in to PSA to see what they say. Nice video. I put off buying PSA micro dagger mags until this past weekend because I spent a fortune on shield arms mags that did not work reliably. Shield did try to narrow the problems down, but every time I was having to test him with another 1 to 200 rounds, and that was getting really expensive just to try to make a magazine work. Over the past month or so, these PSA mags look pretty good. If they are flawless for me, I will EDC them. Or, I mean, EDC one and carry an OEM as a back up. If they don't work perfectly, I may very well just go back to my Glock 26 with the 12 round mag pinky extension and be done with all the experimenting.

I’ve heard of issues with the magazine follower nose diving, sometimes causing FTF issues. I tested this with my micro dagger last weekend. Loaded magazines to capacity, then loaded it to ten, eight and six rounds. No issues with either magazine. One FTE, but I attribute that to possibly limp wrist. Through first 180 rounds, only one FTE. Pretty good start. I’ll do another 2-300 rounds (I mix it up between Tula stem case, Blazer, and other FMJ rounds. After break in period, I’m going to cycle JHP carry ammo. If it continues to eat like my Glocks and P80 builds it’ll join my EDC rotation.

There was another RU-vidr that showed some modernist you can do to the mags to make them work.I forgot the name but I'm sure it's easy to find. Part of the issue that he showed was that the shell casing was just barely catching on the top forward edge of the mag. If the spring is weak, the shell will catch more easily. The other issue with the PSA mags is that the plastic on the side catches on the slide release. They may have fixed these issues by noe, but its a couple things to look for it you're having problems.

The Gen 3 S 15's have taken care of their issues except for those Glock units whose mag wells are way far out of spec. But with th eS15's you must put in a steel mag catch/release whereas the PSA mags need the poly mag catch which allows you to continue using your OEM mags.

When the shield arms mags came out to attempt to fix that issue it came with WAY to many caveats like wearing down the mag catch, reliability issues, that made the 43x a no go for EDC. When the dagger micro came out I thought it was going to be the same story with unreliability and mag catches but it looks like they nailed it. 15 rounds in a compact carry. Glock 48 with PSA MD Mags for me too! I have a Zaffiri Precision 43X ported slide and barrel with holosun EPS Carry mounted; but when I carry without optics, I use my G48 slide with the Trijicon DI Night Sights. Also have the ghost connector installed with an I.T.T.S. trigger from Tyrant CNC. It's the most flexible slim/micro 9 out there because of all the aftermarket solutions. I love my XMacro and XL too. Possibly the most complete kit out of the box experience there is! All I had to do to them was clean and oil them and mount my optics on them. I did add +2 MagGuts to the 12 rnd mags for my XL to make them 14+1 though. That's it! I also have my HC/HCP/XDM Elite as well. This is the golden era of sidearms for sure! My Glock 19, 17, 29, and 43 are always on standby for when SHTF though!

Great info. I like Shield mags Gen 3 for my 43x because I know were they're made. The Check-Mate Magazine Company is making them for Shield Arms Gen 3 not sure of Gen 2. Check-Mate made Beretta M9 Mags for the US Govt. contract for years you have to have USA made companies for any contract for the US Govt. Mecgar can not be in the M9 for those contract so Check-Mate was award the contract. I don't know were PSA is having there mags made could be a GREAT company. You can trust Shield mags for carry Check-Mate makes Kimber mags also and the Sig P365. The reason Sig has mags made there is Conan the President of Sig use to work for Kimber. How do I know my friend Dennis was the custom shop manger for Kimber for years told when Conan left to be President of Sig he coped a lot of stuff from Kimber. Sig mags maybe not all but P365 are made by Check-Mate fact. Also I have a Ramm Tactical trigger in my 43x and Karl the owner his personal carry gun is 43x/Shield Mags. Karl said Shield told him 2 to 3 days before you use new mags load them up full springs will take a set.

Have some of the silver “Slick” finish Micro mags and some of the black Micro mags. The last round is tight to get in (use a maglula loader too). But no issues running the mags topped off 4 or 5 times each.

It’s extremely loose fitting so I’m highly disappointed… So I just ordered a blacksmith tactical V2. I chose to have them send me whatever random mystery color they choose. I’ve put over 1,000 rounds total for both of them with the like of ammo such was 115 grain fmj to 124 grain fmj to 124 grain federal hst and + P variant to 147 grain HST. Both been reliable to me. Shit,I’ve even wash a loaded one in the washer machine and mag dump my 124 federal hst the day after. I can say that I can trust the gun/magazine to save my life when I needed it. I have a ton of issues with the s15 gen 3 in a 43x mos. First couple hundred rounds were flawless out of 5 s15 mags. Went to an all day class shot 500 rounds and they all jammed relentlessly. It was embarrassing. Some mags worse than others but I rarely made it through a whole mag without a couple stovepipes. FTE, and. FTF. I just ordered 3 psa daggers I’m hoping for the best. Sent mags back to shield arms they replaced them with mags that still jam. Wasted a lot of money but that’s the game I guess.

I don’t consider either Shield or PSA mags reliable compared with factory Glock mags. They both have their own set of issues. Ultimately I would solve the capacity issue by switching to a Hellcat Pro. Same size pistol, 15 round RELIABLE steel mags, steel sights, and a much better trigger.

My two Shield Arms mags FAIL consistantly in one configuration. 15+1. First round fires but second round fails to feed. Drop the mag, clear the failure, reinsert mag, next round stovepipes. However, every round from there on runs fine. Slide back, insert full mag, release slide...failure to feed. This is no EDC mag!

I think your poll yesterday speaks for itself. A large majority of people do not trust aftermarket 43x mags for conceal carry. To me, conceal carry is like wearing a seatbelt. If there is even a .01% chance of it not working when I need it to... I'm going to opt for the factory reliability. Of course, Glock could just make 43x mags that hold 15 rounds factory... Anyways, just my 2 cents.

if glock made a 15rd mag it would be the G19 mag so the grip would also need to be thicker. Glock will not make mags that are not polymer over metal.
@deucedeuce1572

They have the HMC9, which is a G43 that uses P365 magazines. I have no clue why Glock hasn't done it yet. I've been saying it since before the P365 even came out (since the G42 came out). Was a bad decision for them to stick with polymer magazines from the start, because the thick walls reduce capacity... and they also had Zero mag compatibility issues, because the mags were single stack for the G42 and G43. (and the G42 was .380acp too).
