First time I saw Ed Sheeran was on SBTV during my Grime/HipHop discovery era as a kid. He always stood out because of his ability to sing with a rap cadence and speed. And he never had that “I’m too cool from grime and rap” vibe and attitude that a lot of these singers had back then. Even now, he could’ve easily named other things that gave him success but he named the UK Grime scene. Respect

I was at the club in central London (Sunday show) he’s not lying. It’s an entirely black crowd and they were very harsh. When we saw him come out with his guitar we were all baffled. Within a few minutes he had won the entire crowd over. The grime/uk rap scene supported Ed from the start
