You make a perfectly valid point, but really movies will always put profit above story, so sequels will inevitably degrade. Best thing to do is use your own head cannon to decide what to keep or discard.
it use to be like that, now it's just about worshipping women. A new femenist movie comes out every day and they lose money but these movies keeping getting made. They're not happy about it, which is why they insult they call the audience sexist, but these movies aren't slowing down. It isn't about profit anymore.
@@tommyhatcher3399 Well said. No one likes to be preached to when they go see an entertaining movie especially in this genre. Sure there are good films with messages but these days they hit you over the head with it and if you don't agree 100 percent, it's like you say-You're a sexist pig! Give the character a good story and a good character arc regardless of gender and you'll have a successful movie. Going back a la Dark fate and erasing the "terrible man savior" and replacing hi with a woman just alienates your audience.
That brings up an interesting question: should deleted scenes be taken as canon? At the end of Superman 2 the phantom zone criminals lose their powers and slide down into the ice prompting Henry Cavill fans to say that Superman has killed before the whole snapping of Zod's neck. And yet in a deleted scene you can see the very much alive criminals being arrested as Superman and Lois talk to Lex Luthor. Should we consider that? But in a deleted scene of the Kevin Smith movie Clerks, Dante is killed by a robber in the store. If we considered that canon then their wouldn't have been a Clerks 2 or 3.
@@kyleday5026Not only did T3 simply rinse and repeat stuff that we’d already seen in the 2 previous movies, but it also had WAY too much humor. T1 & 2 had intensity, and NONE of that were in T3. Or well, till the end anyway. Honestly, the twist at the end was the ONLY interesting thing about that movie
You make a good point Rob, I’ve always preferred the first Terminator movie more, perhaps because it was the only film in the franchise for a while and like you thought it was going to be a stand alone movie. I do enjoy them all to be fair and never considered the fact that T2 wasn’t necessary 🧐 surely they can’t ask Arnie back for another film 😬 (what about the TV show as well, there are dozens of Terminators in that 😮) take care mate👍😃👍
Some people seem to think I'm against it but they obviously didn't pay attention. I agree it's a great film and I'm glad to have it on my collection. BUt from a story point if view it was finished in the first film. Thanks ALan!
I've only seen T1 and T2. That was because I was challenged to watch them. In fact, a friend from work handed me the DVD of T1 and said: "Here. Watch it, Mike!" I liked T1, but T2 was just sort of OK. I never had any desire to see them again or see any sequels. Just not my style at all. I choose to ignore these franchises. You make some very good points here.
HI Mike. You don't really need to see any more beyond T2. They get progressively worse and insulting. I'm glad we have T2 but I'm just saying the story was finished in the first one. But it's almost not worth getting into any franchise these days. They just keep ruining them!
you guys forget that these guys want attention. its not about money anymore. old guy gets less sexy...how does old guy get young girls to see him as a rock star......you get your name everywhere and have jobs to offer
Agreed. A lot of people seem to be thinking that I don't think it should have been made. On the contrary I'm glad it was because I love it. I'm just talking story wise.
I agree i saw terminator 1 first and then seeing 2 second wasn’t much a fan of it as i was with T1 and it’s darker slash horror tone and chase along with the very believable character of Reese as a soldier with ptsd from the future I wanted more movies like this BADLY For me T1 over T2 anyday any year Iam still waiting for another horror slasher tone like T1 sci fi tone! I know I’ll get so much hate for this but oh well go suck and egg it’s my experience and opinion after all in my opinion sometimes less is better. I still have yet to watch the anime that came out recently Terminator Zero iam hearing good things about it like it sticks more to dark sci fi tones of the first terminator.
I agree on just T1 and T2. Because they do find the Arm and Cpu. , its like technology getting a advanced push in these findings, and getting the T1000 arriving
@eluberimabib4070 alright, I will politely hear your complaints. Just know that if it involves the philosophical and logical failures of time travel, I'm discounting that out of hand.
@eluberimabib4070 it's a different atmosphere, certainly. I like both for different reasons. One is like cyberpunk horror, the other is full on action. I can appreciate both
I agree about another Terminator film being unecessary. But the sequel was very well made (although repeating the chase story again) it didnt disgrace the original film, as so many sequels so often do, TERMINATOR 2 is perhaps the more important film of the two, because of the emphesis on the nuclear threat more, & the struggle to survive was even more amped up, Cameron didnt want anyone else directing a sequel which explains the long time gap between the 2 films.
The sequel WAS very well made and it gave us one of the most unique characters in sci fi in the T-1000 so despite it all I'm glad we have it. And you made a great point about it not disgracing the original film. So many of these sequels and continuation these days can't seem to handle that and they often end up killing the originals characters we grew up with (see my video-Stop killing my guys). A great comment thank you very much!
I think so. The Terminators look so awesome, up there with aliens and predators, and the story and setting and music and everything is something so cool, it's worth returning to as much as possible. The sequels sucked, yes, but if they stuck with real effects instead of CGI, maintained the horror, made the bad guy actually seem threatening, they couldn't go wrong. Terminator movies are like Mega Man games in that way. People these days go on about Ripley and Sarah, but the main draw of those films were Arnie in the first one, and T-1000 in T2.
You're right, Ripley and Sarah are great characters and heroes but every hero is only as good as their opponent and they have fantastic ones in the Terminators and the xenomorphs for sure Love the comment i really appreciate it!
I think the Skynet that sent the T-1000 back is a different Skynet from the one in the first movie. That can explain how they sent back new Terminators. T2 is still relevant as giving us one of the greatest heroines in cinema.
I agree about the heroine. Sarah Conner is one of the greats and I even think she's already heroic in the first one two, especially at the end. I t was great character arc for her.
No he's right he's exaggerating that they dident need a terminator 2 but I think that they butcherd this franchise they made to many of them terminator 1 and 2 is enouf I think that terminator 1 and 2 was enouf and they should of stopped at 2
Never said it WASN'T a great movie. I think it's one of the best. My point is just from a story point of view. And I agree the ones that came after were not needed and only ended up deconstructing the franchise and it's characters.
That just comes to tell you that movie producers are running out of ideas I mean look at all the sequels that we've been getting I mean God made live versions of a bunch of Disney movies
Yeah, another example. Not really needed from a story point of view but glad they made it because it was amazing and it helped that the tone was so different than the first one. That current one that's playing seems to be a retread of the first one with modern day CGI. But I haven't seen it so I'm just going by what I've heard and seen in the many trailers. A lot of people seems to have liked it and its done well at the box office I guess.
they are so different in tone. just like alien and aliens. alien and t1 are essentially horror films. t2 and aliens are action films. t1 gets slept on because t2 is a cover song of t1 that is palatable for all audiences and visually captivating. t1 will give must folks paranoia lol
No.. I love the first Terminator. But, never liked T2. Alotta people always said that was great and I never understood it. Terminator as the good guy never worked for me.
T1 is the best one, only the slowest of people will argue T2 is the best one. If a robot from the future was stalking me.. I'd think that is pretty scary, ah T1 is not just scifi but also a slasher & horror. T2 is watered down and removes the the fact it would be scary, making T2 only scifi & action.. it should be creepy and unsettling as well (but it never captures what T1 captured vibe wise). T2 is good, T1 is a masterpiece. The rest do not exist to me
A lot of people are expressing the horror point of view. That never occurred to me. I always saw it as a sci fi movie but I guess it does have a lot of the same qualities as a stalker/slasher type of movie.
It's shocking that with an attitude of, "anyone who disagrees with my subjective feelings must have mental defects," no one buys your garbage merch or watches your terrible videos. I mean, you seem so chill and cool. Nah, you're not the issue - it's everyone else!
