Also a thing i realized is that the tutorial protagonist does have a really high chance of survival in a realistic sense. As by the end they have a hunting knife which they could either use to cut through the fence or just cut the barbed wire on tom and climb over.
@@bloodleader5 You'd be surprised how many survival knives and military knives have a wirecutter function that will turn fences and barbed wire into nothing but silly string.
@@sheepbleat6556 If you had ever actually used one of those tools you'd be surprised how much of a joke those "wire cutters" are. Usually it involves taking the wire against the unsharpened spine of the knife and slamming the *plastic* sheath closed on it... and that requires you to be able to fit the knife in that spot in the first place. Those things are next to worthless and wear out in no time. Chain link is also several times thicker than any wire designed to be cut by typical electrical tools, about the equivalent of 6 gauge (your house wiring is mostly 12 or 14 gauge), and it's made of *hardened stainless steel*, not copper. You need cable cutters for copper that size, but for steel? Even that would be a struggle.
I think the knox event was caused by the goverment. The tutorial level is a simulation that went wrong. This would explain why its fenced up and has that surveillance building. The huge horde probably escaped and went on to cause the "foul smell in the air" due to the fact viruses dont have any smell
It has been verified that the "foul smell" was in fact likely the virus, or, particles carrying the virus. If you've ever been in a pneumonia ward, or been around a room full of covid patients when you still have your sense of smell, you absolutely can smell the lung infection. It's a sickly, sweet-smell, like rotting lemons, cheese, and that smell when you get punched in the nose. You are correct that you're not smelling the virus, but the particles carrying the virus though.
My theory is pretty close to yours; The scientists were monitoring something other than you in the area.. Almost like they were originally monitoring Patient Zero, where the Knox Infection all started.. especially taking into consideration the secret morgue in the corner of the tutorial map where they probably kept the patient’s body..
But why those scientist experimenting without a guard on their side to neutralized patient zero? Why is the facility near a populated place? And if a single zombie manage to infect 3/4 of Kentucky and it is still day one, how is it even possible??
Also know that in the tutorial if you disobey Spiffo's tips (like not eating the entire mouse in one go or if you vault over the wrong fence) he will scold you make me believe enven more the scientists are indeed monitoring you and the spiffo's tips are just from them, also linking to the theory that the Knox infection started from the Spiffo's restaurants, wich in fact must be more than just a fast-food chain
I feel like this could also just be a reference to Silent Hill 2’s secret Dog Ending. Basically the world of Silent Hill was a simulation run by a dog.
I actually discovered this the first time I played the tutorial. But I was killed by the scientist zombies before I could get a good look around. I didn’t think much of it because I was new to the game. Now I see this it makes me appreciate the game even more.❤❤
Kind of reminds me of Unturned's lore. It took years but eventually it was revealed that the zombie outbreak was caused by the fast food and gas station mogle Big Jay hiring the research organization Scorpion-7 to research aliens and ancient volcano demons in order to genetically modify berries so he can use them in his mass produced food in order to mind control people into voting for him during his presidential campaign. I just really batshit insane lore in games that's built upon many years over the course and various game versions.
Also if we remember the isolated military base it seems that it could perfectly well be nearby isolated in the forest the character is called Jane doe that is how unidentified women are called This even makes me think that it may be a clone rather than someone real. Do you remember that the military base has an elevator that is theorized to go to the basement? Maybe that's where it's all happening

On the radio, a "Conspiracy theorist" comes on and says spiffo-corp has been using modified meat to make an extra buck, and that's the root cause. He then plugs his book "Apocalypse cow", which explains the whole "discovery". Very sus...

We must herd thousands of zombies into a rural cabin in Kentucky and place a subject inside for the sole purpose of seeing how long they can last! Our scientists will mimic a certain orange raccoon to guide the subject.” While the country is tearing itself apart with the zombie epidemic lol
I think that spiffos is the reason. In every Vanilla city ,where you can spawn is a spiffo restaurant, even in rosewood. The food probably hat the virus in it

I tried to escape into the woods, realized that unless they get stuck on windows and shit, they follow you forever. Never noticed the spiffo sign on the research area, though.
And the ones with no one to answer to as well. Who's gonna audit them? They are the audit. Who's gonna critic their work? They are the critic. You say bad job? They say good job.
It may be an labolatory in LV. That has hospital beds , dog cages and other suspicious stuff like in the back which is spiffo plushies aprons and tray and cups. Don't remember specific name of that company but it is on the far right of LV.
I think Spiffo’s is actually a front for what is in reality a morally bankrupt pharmaceutical company that in conjunction with the US government used the restaurant franchise to administer the infection and observe the effects it had on an unsuspecting population. I don’t think they knew that it would have such an adverse effect probably BC the initial infection presented more like a flu. I also think the tutorial takes place during this initial infection and your character happened to be near the lab in which patient zero and other infected were stored. They eventually escaped and infected the area which the scientists then tried to contain. This is why if you disobey them they complain about wasting time and money. I think they were using you to clean up their dirty work when they ended up getting infected themselves and as the horde escaped the facility they spread the infection further.
@@americanhuman1848 or epidemics for that matter. My headcanon for zomboid is that it’s simply some act of god or whatever else beyond the veil. It just makes it a little more haunting as people don’t know why or what is definitively going on and panic breaks out without any stereotypical hero or government to swoop in and save the country. Still it’s just as likely it’s something else and I think the devs want to keep it obscure. I still believe that the tainted meat theory is the least likely. Zomboid is a very realistic game and while plausible, would almost be silly if it was just cause of evil zombie hamburger meat. If anything this is just a silly Easter egg poking fun at the idea.
@@TemmieContingenC nuh-uh, it was clearly because smeefon dusk flew into space and stole the virus from God (the sky is a shield put up by the government to keep people from seeing God) and tried to get it studied in a lab in Kentucky. then, he hired about 10 people to spread the falsehood that it came from the Spiffo burgers, but only one of those people survived to tell it (that one on the radio). and actually all the zombies are paid actors (they are really good at acting) and the player is simply being setup for a death sentence via murder, vehicular manslaughter, arson and more charges by the government because he committed tax fraud but they had no proof, and because he believes the earth's a sphere (what an idiot, everyone's been to the edge), oh and the player also thinks the earth revolves around the sun (seriously? we all know earth is the center of the universe and the sun is a cube). but then the government ran out of money so the (now formerly)paid actor "zombies" turned on everyone and started actually eating them. I'm American human, and this is Project Zomboid lore (real).

I absolutely believe Spiffo is behind the cause of the outbreak in one form or another. Either by purpose or mistake/byproduct or even just where patient zero came from. The mascot for the game is the Spiffo mascot afterall.
Well..isn´t a "spiff" something related to encourage the sales of "something" by someone?. I´m not an English native speaker so..a bit of what a "spiff" is, may be escaping my understanding. But you can find all kind of products from them such as backpacks, t-shirts, mugs, figures, costume, vehicle, signs on the roads, etc. And I don´t remember if there is something about it on the radio too. As if some sort of very strong marketing campaign was done around their products.
The spiffo on the wall makes me think this could be a reference to dead rising since the zombies in that game where caused by the US trying to make cows produce more meat but wasps got infected and spreading the zombie virus but that's a huge stretch
In my opinion they were making a documentary to air to other survivors but it went wrong and ended up with the actors and scientists who knew about the zombies dieing and trying to finish it
I found this today on my first time ever opening the game I started running from the hord and ran to the top and then through the bushes and I expected to die but then the building was there I got killed by the scientists when I walked in cause I didn’t realize the gun was outa amo

If you get a digital watch in the tutorial, and live until the next day, the date on the watch says COVID. Actually it is the temperature in Celsius, followed by the date, 07/10 But that spells out C0┐/10(cannot replicate the straight back 7 in ascii code) . Which on the blocky digital watch looks exactly like COVID. I am new to this game I sure hope the tutorial was put in after 2020....?
