OMG... I am in tears!!! I used to get my hair done at Cornrows & Co. on 14th Street. It is so good to see the beautiful Ms. Farrell!!! I was young and my mom made sure I got my hair braided regularly at Cornrows & Co. My life changed, my thinking changed when I heard her say that there is no "good" hair or "bad" hair... just healthy hair or unhealthy hair!!! I remember at 17 years old, after getting my hair done, going down to protest at the Grand Hyatt for a woman that had lost her job because of the hair that grows naturally out of her head. Little did I know that I was protesting for ME and my children to come!!! Thank you, Mama Pam and Baba Taalib for paving the way... if you only knew!!!!

she's correct because I'm very hydrated and wash my hair about 1-2 times a week (live in hot sweaty Texas) but my hair stays dry...for years I've dealt with extreme split ends only to find out that I'm " severely anemic" & my vitamin D was so dangerously low that I was prescribed 50,000 IU/week...after taking prescribed about of ferrous iron & Vitamin D my hair almost immediately stopped breaking....I hope to see results of dryness also
@HoneeyBee3
@HoneeyBee3 2 года назад
In case you dont notice anything, just a tip, dryness may be more of lack of quality protein or lack of Omega3's...like fatty fish, cod liver oil, or flaxseeds for example etc. I was deficient in both iron and D, but didn't see improvements until I started focusing on bvitamins to support my iron absorption (because my iron sat wouldnt rise until I added b12 & folate), and then I saw MAJOR improvements in moisture, definition & growth when I got adequate quality protein, and omega 3s. And by quality protein I mean things like legumes, fish, and chicken breast. No red meats or processed meats. For example, when people have chronic dry eyes or dry skin, hair included there's usually no internal lubrication which is derived from omega 3s.

I have dry skin and dry eye's so can I take Omega3 supplements to combat this? I do take Thera Tears for my dry eye's
@HoneeyBee3
@HoneeyBee3 2 года назад
@@Shrimp459 yes, it helps a lot, but you do have to give it time to work. It won't be as instantaneous as putting in drops, so give it a few weeks to build up in your system. I usually see benefits around week 2 or 3 when I get back on my routine. And dont take an excessive amount trying to make it work faster as too much of a good thing can still be bad. Too many antioxidants can actually have a negative effect after a certain threshold. Make sure it includes EPA and DHA if you go with a supplement. Fish naturally has both, and the only plant based sources that has both is spirulina and algae I think...which is why I try to eat fish at least once a week in addition to my legumes and flaxseeds. I havent found a trusted plant source brand. And the plant based sources are SO expensive. BUT, if dry eyes are your only concern, google "sea buckthorn dry eyes" too. I read it works a bit faster than waiting for omega 3s..like within days. So as long as you have no allergies or possible interaction concerns, it can jump start things for you while you increase omega 3s in your diet.

I thought it was change of climate, so the little that left on my head I locked it. Now, I realized the cause of my hair loss, I was anemic at the time and the lack of vitamin d, since I didn't have the sun anymore. Anyway, it has grown back and I ensure to take the best care it. It was a white lady, my boss at the time that got me to ask my doctor to do a vitamin D test. My black doctor just like my black self complained saying it is expensive (in UK, we don't pay) but he said it cost about £250 - this is maybe 10 years ago. It turned out my Vitamin D was so low my GP was surprised, he ordered a very high dose immediately for 1 week and since then I buy Vitamin D tablets....I do hate going out in the Sun because it triggers my migraines but I try to go out after the high sun has gone. I do have fibroids so my hair grow is slow....I wash it and take supplements and Iron. I need to keep on top of my calcium too because I stopped milk because I became gluten and lactose intolerant. I get high BP sometime and a nurse told me to eat these 3 food which works when I keep it up - beetroots, apples and banana that is not fully ripe so still has green on it - the nurse insisted MUST have green on it and not ripe - ripe banana has a different taste and is very high in sugar - exactly ripe banana is still slightly green and has less sugar.

Oh my God 😃 I'm so glad that this video showed up on my recommends. This was truly life-changing. I did not know your hair loss, it could be tied to your health issues. that course one, two, three, and four, etc... which I fellt over the years was BS.... it never really never made sense to me. having her explain it it's life-changing 🙏🏽 Ladies we know we should be washing our hair at least twice a week. I love knowing that at times I use too much shampoo and conditioner. That I definitely need prescription vitamin D. the other knowledge that I've gained from this video. I'm definitely getting her book and new book 😉 thank you so much sisters 💞

This video is great and one of the best hair care videos I've seen on RU-vid. She is so knowledgeable and I wish I was closer to her salon 😩 What she said about health issues and hair loss is so true! I have a somewhat large fibroid and my hair is really thin in the front. Also, I have digestive issues and my hair is thin in the back too. FACTS!

Wow, "it's upside-down." FACTS here, thank you! Yes, we all know why it was turned upside-down, and that is because they want us to believe that our hair and everything about us is less than. Nothing could be further from the truth. I always tell my family and friends that "all hair is good hair" because they are quick to say "you, she, or he has good hair" because the hair may be straighter with a large curl pattern. The hair brain-wash runs so deep for so many. Actually, we are EVERYTHING, including our hair. The world globe was turned upside down as well, to make some countries appear smaller now guess which one? Knowledge is a beautiful thing. This video is a must-share so much wisdom on hair care.

I get so much pushback from new guests that sit in my chair… until the end of their 2.5-3 hour appt. They become believers. My goal is to guide my clients into loving their hair into healthy and hydrated hair… from tight coils to waves. I am 80% on board with Pamela. ❤️ I absolutely encourage everyone to seek out a texture specialist to help with your foundation and to understand YOUR wave pattern, texture density and outer texture. With knowledge comes power. Style and flexibility comes with your foundation (not knowing your hair type.. which is a myth.)

Thank you for this video, it was very informative! I always notice the circles on my floor on wash day ( I believe I am in the medium range, on the smaller end). Thank you for this video. I. Absolutely. Loved. It. Ms Ferrell touched on all the things many of us have faced: dry & brittle hair, hair loss in patches, extreme exhaustion, etc. For myself the doctor kept saying you’re fine, nothing’s wrong, your tests are within normal range. Normal for whom??? Kept pushing back until he referred me to an endocrinologist. Best decision ever; vitamin D was 9. Taking the prescription vitamin D made a huge difference! Fight for your own health; no one else will.

I would think as we get older the circle size may get larger but I’m sure that may vary on individual basis from origin point (but I’m basing this on my own hair & women I’ve seen who wear their hair in it’s natural state regularly)

she said if you're washing your hair once a week and it's still dry then you need vitamin d. so i figured we should be washing our hair once a week. as i've gotten older, i've noticed my circle size getting larger. my father's hair was the same way.
